One of the three co-founders in 2015 referred to her and another co-founder as being ‘trained Marxists.’
Ummm, that’s BLM. As I’ve stated, the knee didn’t originate with BLM. So the ideology of BLM doesn’t matter. The gesture can be separated from that group.
There’s no Marxist cell out to cause a revolution in both football and gridiron.
Both Kaepernick and the English footballers have been clear their stance is to stand against racism, not for some Marxist cause. The motivations of the BLM lot are separate to this and it should be obvious now they’ve stated this time and time again.
I’m guessing those who thanked the OP would have no problem with a team of devout Catholics crossing themselves before kick off.
Fifty Pence has got it spot on. Well said.
Apparently you can buy jackets for turning your back on players taking the knee. They’ve got ‘dinosaur’ emblazoned on the back but you can get bespoke ones to order with more appropriate terms to suit each wearer.
‘but surely those so called ‘ultras’ must be cheering on black players when supporting their local teams?’
Why surely? I wouldn’t be so sure.
‘Out of interest, is Phil Foden still keeping him out of Man City’s team?
Where was Foden last night?
Ah, doesn’t fit….’
Support for taking the knee falls down too easily you say? Not as easily as this spurious claim! Not least because he’s not played a game for City this season due to injury and is very much a player Southgate loves.
It’s a bit ironic that our “I’m not a racist but, but, but, but ……” posters are so eager to defend their hostility and lack of respect for our country’s footballers using a false link to Marxism.
The same posters are happy to thank Big Job’s extreme right wing hate posts abusing black people, Muslims, women, homosexuals and disabled people.
All supposedly representing the views of the white working class.
Heath, I note you’re back after a long absence, but why do you NEVER post about football?
Just racists, homophobes, bigots etc.
PS: “BIGOT”… one who will not allow others to hold views opposing his own.
Alcazar, I can’t speak for Heath but I also comment more on these topics. I now live away from Scunny and with young kids I don’t get the chance to watch many games these days – so I read the football posts to get a better idea of what is going on at Glanford Park, I rarely comment because I don’t have much to contribute on these topics. Had this board been around in the 90’s I would have contributed more. But for some of the topics, like this one, I do have an opinion.
No one is not allowing others to hold views opposing their own. A number of posters are objecting to players taking the knee, others are arguing against them.
