Iron Bru › Forums › Blast Furnace › HOW DO LOWER LEAGUE CLUBS KEEP GOING??
I am really amazed that after so many months without gate money, how we still have a full set of lower league teams still in existance!!
I appreciate that Scunny are more top heavy regarding players and management, than most of these teams, but where is the money coming from to pay all the wage bill, and other weekly club bills, not only is there no gate money, but also no food and drink outlet cash, no car parking fees, and I would think that sponsership cash is well down to normal times.
It was reported that our club was losing £80,000 per week last season even though gate money was being collected, I know that players wages have been reduced, and a lot of our top earners have left the club, but we must be losing money big time at present, and there are no signs of anything changing.
I also wonder how many fans are paying for away ifollower £10 matcches played by Scunny, and who gets the fees for such matche, is it the home club, or Scunny??, I am thinking, it is actually costing me twice my normal fees ha ha!, becase my home ifollower fee is paid for with myn £240 pensoners season ticket fee paid upfront, anfd then the £10 for each away game, but cash really must be short, and clubs like Accrington, Rochdale etc must be owing a lot of money to some body.
I have been wondering the same for quite a while.
Combination of loans kicking the problem down the road, some wage cuts and a realisation that even at our level TV pays at important chunk of the bills?
Who knows how much longer it will last though….
Wealdstone voted to curtail season.
