Well done to the new board for making such quick progress on the purchase of the ground. Hopefully we can put the horrendous Hilton era behind us though we have to be aware that it will take time to undo all that damage.
It is a shame that Swann gets any money for the ground but we have to play realpolitik and accept it’s the least-worst option.
We’ll look back at the last two owners as people who undid everything good about the club. Here’s to Scunthorpe United becoming an important club for the community for many years to come. Up the Iron!

November 16, 2023 at 10:56 am #276928To Want and expect Swann to walk away with nothing was not being fair he will have left with far less than Wharton walked away with, lets have a bit of fairness in the matter. Lets hope they hand the money over when needed.

Why?
November 16, 2023 at 11:32 am #276945Wharton, Fenty, every tom dick or harry normally walk away with money when they move the club along to a new owner that’s why and Swann shouldn’t be expected to be any different.

Your grand on the way then?
November 16, 2023 at 1:23 pm #276955Who as actually purchased the ground Scunthorpe united or that new registered company 64 highlighted. The New Show Ground Community Interest Company. The club really need to tell us whether they’ve brought the ground and the club back together or not.

November 16, 2023 at 1:35 pm #276959No they appear to buying it themselves Cass, if things transpire that the ground will be separate to the club and can never be sold (unless moving to a new ground of course) then they will get my grand and sure many other contributions, I feel a little bit disappointed they have not involved us if im honest, my thoughts are still the same i want the ground to be out of the club owners hands forever.

November 16, 2023 at 3:59 pm #276970If reports on social media are correct it might be a little premature to go full party mode on this.
It’s claimed the club will own 25% of land (ground?) and an as yet unknown 3rd party will own 75% (car parks and training pitch).
Might be a load of BS of course but after our last 2 owners I’m holding the champagne for now.

‘I’ll be on BBC Look North this evening talking about what the purchase of Glanford Park means for the club. In many ways, today’s news is bigger than the takeover. #UTI’

November 16, 2023 at 5:38 pm #276984Should never be forgotten some of the work Matt has done to highlight our plight. Put himself out there to abuse and threats made against him- alongside many others.
Similarly, I don’t know the full details, but I suspect the Iron trust have played a significant part by listing the ground as an ACV to allow a bid to prepared.
Professional football in Scunthorpe could have easily been a thing of the past by this point, personally, I thought apathy would have seen us gone; but the community has rallied round and fought to protect the club. Terrific stuff.
November 16, 2023 at 5:42 pm #276987Anyone want to post a précis of Matt’s LN interview later?
For those of us who live outside the area.

November 16, 2023 at 7:07 pm #276992Disappointed the club couldn’t put forward a director to speak to the camera on look north, a double act of Simon and Ian in the stand would have been nice, lol.
