I predicted under 2,000 for the first game and happily, this did not occur as eventually, we began to bring some players in. The 31st May comment had been most deleterious to the club.
I know as an unchallengeable fact that hardcore supporters have been lost forever as they have felt so so let down over the last three seasons. The ones who had told me that they have given up – really have. Getting those on the fringes through the gates now looks extremely problematical.

I am not trying to stick the knife in here; I am just desperate to see the Iron succeed.
Indeed, I urge Iron supporters to give the new team as much of a chance as humanly possible over the coming weeks. Performances, more than ever before in the Iron’s history, will dictate the size of attendances. Goodwill is going to have to be recreated – it has not started well.

    Fans not customers!

Guess this level of loyalty is reflective of today’s society.

All I can think of is Gerald Ratner

The state of the ground is a disgrace.

UTI99, your little slogan has added zero to this debate – and tends strongly towards being offensive to decent people for having the effrontery to want value for money.
Personally, I would like fans and customers coming through the gates.
Bizarrely, it appears that, in your mind, the two ideas cannot be complementary. Indeed, you seem to find them mutually exclusive.
Surely, bums on (clean) seats is the only measure of any worth, here.
Judging fans/paying customers would be risible were it not such a critical issue.

I’d rather be surrounded by fans whose support isn’t based upon tatty flags, dirty seats or whether they’re served a foot long Lincolnshire hotdog.

Is it that bad to want the lads on the pitch to get the best support possible?

As usual UTI would rather play club sycophant then see the bigger picture, it’s very sad but I guess predictable.

OK so you want fans not customers so how do we attract the fans?
Sh1te football, filthy stadium, excessive parking charges, poor refreshment options, little or no ‘fan’ engagement because that’s what we’ve got. How would you suggest we tackle this to get rid of the customers and attract the fans.

The absolute state of this. Where is the sense of pride?

    <script async=”” src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js&#8221; charset=”utf-8″></script>

That is nothing short of disgusting, Just completely disgusting.

Swann, if you’ve lost interest to that extent, do what you SAID you would, write off the debts, give us back the ground and land, and just F*ck off.
    As soon as possible mate.
If you really have no shame as to what you have done, there is no hope for this club.

For the sake of all that is good, just go, man, go, and take the useless family with you.
Maybe they can run a pub in Blackpool, because the whole lot of you sure as holy hell can’t run a football club.
    Two tries, two disasters.
    Just get gone.

This is the bloke who on Friday night’s podcast was asking the supporters to come along and buy food and drink and spend money in the club shop.

Yet UTI99 reckons none of that matters and we should just turn up, watch and sod off home without buy a foot-long and trying to hold it it after sinking a couple of pints somewhere other than the Iron Bar.

A bit out of sync with your boss aren’t you?

But that would make you a customer surely! For some reason UTI99 doesn’t want those – bizarre!!

And that’s my point. The way Swann spoke on Friday was all about getting customers in to spend money.

    Customers not fans?

BS…we most definitely DID NOT lose our first eight matches last season, not sure where you’ve got that one from!

BigLeftToe—–My information was that the Scunthorpe 1st team started last season with an home record as shown below :-

    H PORT VALE CAR-CUP 1-2
    H NEWPORT LG-2 0-1
    MAN C UN-21s TR’Y 0-4
    FOREST GREEN LG-2 1-4
    CAMBRIDGE LG-2 0-5
    SOLIHULL MOURS FA CUP 2-3
    MANSFIELD TRO’Y 1-2
    MORCAMBE LG-2 1-1
    BOLTON W LG-2 0-1

So EIGHT LOSSES AND A DRAW results of the first teams first 9 home matches, so sorry for putting Eight Losses, and just look at some of the score lines for Home matches, and some fans were saying give the manager a fare crack of the whip, and for the record the team also lost 3 of the next 5 home games!!! so your statement that sort of suggested I was a long way off with my eight home game losses to start the season was ONE POINT OUT, and this was for NINE MATCHES, a big deal hey? !!! AND THE MANAGER IS STILL IN CHARGE HA HA!, IT’S A GOOD JOB THE CHAIRMAN DOES NOT HAVE A RECORD AS A MANAGER SACKER ????????????????????????

We also beat Carlisle 1-0 at home in our third league game of the season. Think you need to throw your information in the bin, you’re making yourself look a little stupid.

Remember the Carlisle game. Rory’s finest hour and a half.

Carlisle outplayed us and Rory won us the game with some great saves. Let’s hope he is on song again against Cumbrian opposition tonight.
