March 25, 2021 at 9:13 am #203880Going to be very difficult. Hearing of one who will not sign what has been offered.
Released list I think will be about 13 but would not be surprised if another 5 will reject offers. That will mean massive problems the longer you leave recruitment. So will it turn out to be a false economy and costs actually rise because we start panic signing.
Gradually some plans unravel and shambles follow. Is this the moment when the route is fixed.

March 25, 2021 at 9:30 am #203881the main thing is not to wait until the last minute to sign new players.

March 25, 2021 at 11:32 am #203883When was the last time we had something resembling a first team going into the start of the new season?
To be fair, this summer was always going to be a very difficult one for the club given the lack of income this season. If a few players, no matter how important, think they can get more money elsewhere then we’ll have to let them go, this is not a time to be playing games.
March 25, 2021 at 11:57 am #203884Certainly the money will be key and players might have to lower their expectations. Realistically how many of our OOC are capable of playing above L2.(I don’t support the view that we have any Championship quality players – see Charlie Goode for confirmation of what might happen) Consequently they will probably have to rely on one of the “bigger” clubs in L1/L2 (or ambitious NL e.g. Stockport) wanting them to improve on what we are in a position to offer. How many of them are actually as good as their agents think they are? Do they want to play regular football or is the cash more important to them? We know it is to their agent.
March 25, 2021 at 1:12 pm #203885I’d be pleasantly surprised if the approach to this close season is anything more than the same old same old.

March 25, 2021 at 3:18 pm #203889Players are a bit like insurance once up for renewal most choose somewhere else. Some would let Eisa go and say no big loss others would say he is one of our better players. Kev has only played a cameo role this season so do we try to keep him on big bucks or do we move on?.
March 25, 2021 at 5:13 pm #203895Yes indeed Awaywego. It’s quite a conundrum.
We could get rid and end up with better, or we could end up with a complete spud!
March 25, 2021 at 10:15 pm #203904Spud from Trainspotting wouldn’t be boring at least.
March 25, 2021 at 10:33 pm #203905Aye! Unfortunately we end up with too many sick-boys!

March 26, 2021 at 10:34 am #203914We’re more likely to get Dave Spudgun from Bottom.
I’m not optimistic…but what’s new? -
