Reading the Football League Paper today, Hill is quoted as saying 8 of the team that lined up v Hartlepool will be starting next season. So take out Delaney, Nuttall and Matheson then it shows he does intend to play all the kids next year.

A long season of struggle is ahead next season. We won’t be anywhere near competing in the National League with that many kids. Blend 2 or 3 in at most for sure, but you can’t rely on up to 8 in that unforgiving league.

At least that’s now made my mind up re next years season ticket.

Does he mean in the starting XI for the first game of the season, or part of the SUFC squad at the beginning of the season?

Does it mean those OOC are definitely going to be offered a new one? Does it mean Delaney wants to stay?

Not sure how he can say who will or will not be here in August given the uncertainty surrounding the club at this moment in time.

Throw away line that means many things as NI has pointed out, any rational viewpoint would be squad members not shoe in first team starters week in week out. We need experience next season as a blend with some of the promising young players we have already on the books. Best wait and see before forming a nailed on opinion in my view.

I’m sure Hill meant in the squad and not all starting at the same time.

Also, if it’s written in a paper it depends on how the journalist has interpreted it.

Hill put it in as a wind-up answer to a not very bright question.
He then reduced it to 6 with the same laugh in his voice.

Accept it can be interpreted, but to quote ‘of that starting 11 today I think 8 will start next season, I’ve been planning that since Christmas’.

Yes but how can Hill be sure that he will be here next season as manager. What about the new owners or is that just another lie and that Lee Turnbull has just been brought in to take the flak for the coward SWANNS!

Hill and Swanny xxx, already agreed on youthful squad next season. What as changed I can’t see anything, like I said after the Sutton game we were told that’s what they were going for, and from all the youngsters coming in since it would seem there’s something in it.

I’ve been planning that since Christmas’.

Even if Hill has been planning it since Christmas it doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Particularly if ownership does change.

If things remain as they are, with Will Swann still in charge of recruitment, then yes, it may happen.

Even if we bring in “seasoned pros” to add experience. If they are of the same quality as the likes of Davis, Kenyon and Bunn then I’d prefer the teenagers!

All managers get the opportunity to prove their case. Mr Hill less than convincing and sending Cam Wilson out on loan for so long proved that.

We signed young loanees that were no better than what we had and continued to play them. If Cam Wilson had been given the opportunities he would have scored 10 goals.

The January recruitment was abysmal and the people responsible for that are still here !! Why ?

They are still here because they own the club or are related to the owner.

A simpler explanation is that it was the usual Hill bullshit.

I said at the time loaning Wilson out was stupid. Shone in pre season and was knocking goals in the reserves. One game he played upfront and absolutely extracted the urine in which he scored 2 screamers and looked head and shoulders above everybody else and then was loaned out.

    I still don’t understand that one !

Hill genuinely said 10/12 will make up the squad for next year so basically we are absolutely F**k*D!!!

The national league is NO PLACE to put all your trust in a team of U23’s!!
Even today we were apparently really good yet look at the stats…. Hartlepool had an embarrassing amount of shots!
These lads are playing because we have NO choice… to be now making out this was always the plan smacks of desperation!!
These young lads have done well but this should NEVER have been the case!
One or two maybe, drip fed into the team but this is madness!!

Then Hill states a 17 year old GK who hasn’t played a single game until today is a future England player…. I’ll take some of what he’s been having!!

My thoughts are….. a year of struggle ahead (which is utterly embarrassing)

Could we end up in the national north??
I stated this 3 years ago in a post, a little tongue in cheek at the time… but I’m now feeling in 18 months that’s where we will be!
And probably part time or the club folded!

This is simply my opinion but we are yet another lesson to all football fans… be carful what you wish for as the next car crash owner is waiting in the wings!!

I have been a critic of the youngsters and seen them make simple errors or mistakes and I have questioned their contributions other than the basics.

Against Hartlepool I thought they all did well, we actually saw some football and players putting in a shift.

The keeper should have been in months ago and Gallimore hit a good range of passes throughout the game. Young needs to settle down and think a bit more.

But by and large I enjoyed the game, we did not lose, scored and created a host of other chances.

I think those so called senior pro’s have been the problem all season. That’s maybe why they won’t attend training sessions.

I do agree with F row that we will struggle but that’s off the pitch politics, straight down to National north for me.

Shall we just wait until we have seen who has departed and who has been brought in before we all start wetting our pants?

Or he’s a better player now for having played 30-odd games at Scarborough and we’re going to reap the benefits rather than having destroyed his career by getting him to play with this absolute shower?

He had opportunities at a much lower level and scored once, that doesn’t suggest to me that he would have scored regularly in L2.

Nuttall and Pyke are the worst two strikers who have worn an Iron shirt. But then they can’t be called strikers! Who brought them in KEITH HILL!

Granted they’re not great but both are better than Tomi Ameobi. Interesting there’s been no apology yet from Nuttall (unless I’ve missed it). It was a massive over-reaction by him to the situation but I’d like to think an immediate post game apology might have calmed things down. If no apology made before next Saturday it’ll be interesting to hear our fans reaction to him at Bristol.

I saw Cam Wilson through both his U18s years. He played more right sided and cut in on to left foot and scored some very good goals. He also appeared in Russ’s U23s and was gaining good experience against much older players. He would have done fine. Certainly no worse than Pyke or Sinclair.

We should been developing our own
