Always thought he did well under challenging circumstances.
    These are very challenging circumstances.

Let’s hope the only similarity with Cox is the hairstyle!

52 years old? Thought he was much older, must’ve had a tough paper round.

    Well done, Mr Swann!
The right three players in and the fans will start to return to watch our rise up the table.
(Thank goodness. We are still in fairly easy reach of third bottom.)

but he will put players in their best positions and play to suit the team available and if formations don’t work won’t stick with it regardless I expect, and probably won’t overthink and pick teams to counteract opponents I hope

Sounds like Peter is bored with meddling too much with the football side. Can’t see Mr Hill putting up with that.

Shame we didnt stick with Hurst and we probably would not be this deep in the shit.

Can see why Keith Hill appointed, 1 of 3 for me but do not know if the other 2 applied.

The Hurst demise – was it not based on the brief given not being adhered to despite further instruction from above ? Suspect something I had heard brought the matter to a swift termination.

Calvin Andrew was with hill at Rochdale and has always been a handful when he played against us, not sure if he is at a club or a free agent.

Can’t ask for anymore with this appointment.

I’m not expecting immediate results as He will need backing in January; this squad is still woefully short of being a competitive league 2 team.

22nd place and it’s job done for me, this year anyhow.

Welcome to the circus Keith! but what a seen and heard of Keith I pretty confident he won’t take any interference from certain members of the staff, still not certain we will survive but at least we have got on the first rung of the ladder.
January now becomes the most important transfer window in the clubs history! It means the next 9 weeks needs to be all hard work both on the pitch and off.

No mention of an assistant, has the combined Cox/Lillis salary been used on Hill alone? MacMahon as assistant?

MacMahon could well be his assistant, think Hill will bring a whole different approach to Cox particularly to orders being carried out and discipline within the squad. MacMahon will probably make a pretty good arse kicker and I think a few of this squad will be finding out just what an experienced lower league manager demands from his players. I think the squad had better wise up and quick.

A great appointment for the current situation. I was excited about the idea of Adkins but could see it all going wrong, this is not the time to gamble. Hope this can steady the ship and give us a strong platform to build from.

    Three months.
He and Swann fall out, (par for the course with Swanny), and Hill walks.

    Still going down, guys.

I can understand where you`re coming from Alcy.
If only Swann came in once a week to sign cheques and then cleared off the club would be in a much better position.

Once a month would probably suffice – perhaps he could do it on a match day and suffer like the rest of us.

Realistically think this was the best appointment we could have hoped for from the available options (Nige was never going to come back!). Hopefully he’s able to put some fight and determination in this squad and tells Swanny where to go if he tries to do any meddling!

I’ve been optimistic about our previous managerial appointments only to be disappointed at a later date. I’m going to reserve judgement this time and hope the results do the talking.

I’m hoping to see an improvement in Ryan Loft. He was once described as a handful, and that might well have been ‘coached out of him.’ This manager will need a makeshift target man until January at least.

I like Loftie, hope he can step up.

Calvin Andrew is at Barrow I think. I did suspect Swann would have to sack off Lillis and Cox and use their wages for Hill and have McMahon step up. That always made sense to me anyway.

What I’ve read further backs up what I thought about Hill. Hill doesn’t take any shit whatsoever..get’s in peoples faces, tells home truths and will be kicking some of these up the arse if they don’t watch it.

We’ll soon see who’s up for the fight and who sulks because he’ll dig whoever they are out pretty quickly.

The poster who claimed Swann will be tired of involving himself in the football side of it now is spot on because if you were heavily involved, he would the last person a chairman would appoint.

Posters will moan about style of football but all I care about is staying up at this moment in time so if we have to resort to his old Rochdale tactics of direct football to a target man, play percentage football and look for second balls, get plenty of balls in the box and play with a bit of aggression while being really well organized…so be it.

I’m not really a fan of that style but needs must and if it helps us, then fair enough.

One thing that would be the sticking point in lack of a proper big n nasty.

Will Loft be able to add that physical side to his game ?

We’ll have to see. Hill will be wanting that from him and that’s what’s been missing for me, he’s big and has strength but never really has used it.

Green’s the same in the sense has blistering pace but never really utilizes it.

Perfect appointment for us right now, I think he’ll do really well and if we stick with him you just never know what he could deliver.

Well done Peter, now just let him get on with it and support him in January and you’ll have started to earn some credit back!!
