Ian Sharp
@IanSharp
For whatever it’s worth Lee Turnbull was incredibly supportive and carried himself with dignity and respect under extremely difficult circumstances. Like every other staff member I had the pleasure of meeting he bleeds

January 26, 2023 at 12:56 pm #253989In my opinion, Lee Turnbull has a lot to offer Scunthorpe United. Please stay Lee.

January 26, 2023 at 1:08 pm #253990We’ve seen Turnbull’s true colours Cass and shown his opinion can be bought, get rid very few will trust him ever again.
January 26, 2023 at 1:11 pm #253991No, we’ve seen what he was paid to do and say.

January 26, 2023 at 1:33 pm #253994I’d rather not see him go. Prefer if he stayed in some capacity. Yes, he made a huge mistake, but the club can only benefit from him staying. Forgive and move onwards and upwards.

January 26, 2023 at 1:45 pm #253995I agree Turnbull has a lot to offer the club the only thing it will come at the detriment of the fans has he’s shown already.
January 26, 2023 at 1:45 pm #253996A huge mistake?
Not sure about that.
What if we get deducted three points for the pitch invasion say, and are relegated by a point?January 26, 2023 at 2:02 pm #254000The point is that a CEO of a professional football club cannot be seen to be in any way condoning the breaking of ground regulations.
What if he turned a blind eye to the following ones for instance?
“Racial, homophobic or discriminatory abuse, chanting or harassment is strictly forbidden
and will result in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground.”
“The use of threatening behaviour, foul or abusive language is strictly forbidden and will result
in arrest and/or ejection from the Ground.”1 user thanked author for this post.
January 26, 2023 at 2:04 pm #254001The huge mistake he made was taking the king’s shilling in the first place when he’d no need to, not like he was unemployed, he’d seen Simon Elliott resign from the board why did he think it was a good move to come back at that time, what has he done other than threaten fans with the police and sold us a couple of lemons? deceitful over the wages saga, Mmm definitely a keeper.

Not sure about that.
What if we get deducted three points for the pitch invasion say, and are relegated by a point? It will still be the fault of the previous ownership.

January 26, 2023 at 2:51 pm #254008Hilton will need people ITK around him and like him or not LT fits that demographic.
I wonder if Neil Wright will be back?
January 26, 2023 at 3:12 pm #254009Fantastic news, which I can hardly believe. I really couldn’t see any way the club could be saved without some sort of miracle, so let’s hope that’s what this turns out to be.
In the meantime, let’s keep our feet firmly on the ground and accept things are likely to get worse before they get better.
January 26, 2023 at 4:33 pm #254017‘What if we get deducted three points for the pitch invasion say, and are relegated by a point?’
We nearly lost the club forever, so what will be will be in that regard. The protesters on the pitch did what they thought was necessary and I think the majority agreed with them. Not really interested in the other ‘what if’ examples you’ve cited. The situation was a unique one. It needs to be viewed in the context of the very prospect of losing the club and a section of supporters mobilising in desperate circumstances.
Anyway, though I think Lee made a huge mistake in the content and threat of police door knocking in his statement, I’d still prefer he stayed. There is a possibility he and supporters grow stronger through this, as long as the majority forgive and move on.
January 26, 2023 at 4:33 pm #254018I understand the annoyance around Lee … but there is that saying about ‘a rock and a hard place.’ From the outside it can seem v black and white .. but he was juggling all sorts of pressures, including rubbing shoulders every day with staff who had livelihoods to worry about. I think he probably regrets aspects of his statement … but sustained and extreme pressure rarely brings the best performance out of anyone. Nuttall received room for a second chance .. and got us a few goals and some money as a result. Lee deserves to be part of this new dawn … I hope he stays on and brings his passion and ability to serve us for years to come.

January 26, 2023 at 4:42 pm #254019I think Lee needs to do a mea culpa and apologise first. I’m all for forgiveness once he has tried to rebuild bridges.

January 26, 2023 at 5:03 pm #254020I’d agree. It might help him understand the issue fans have and for them to hear his explanation. Don’t know if he was surprised by some booing he got last night – if so, I’d find that a concern.
January 26, 2023 at 5:22 pm #254021I know that all the family members have been removed from the website, the club statement has been made that David Hilton is now Owner and Chairman and that a Termination notice has been filed with Companies House for both of the Swanns but what about Coolsilk Property & Investment Limited? The company is still listed as ‘Persons with significant control’ is this just a formality and takes a bit of time to be changed or has the wool been pulled (again) before a big bill at the end of the month needs to be paid?
Sorry to be a cynic but we have been burnt before.
January 26, 2023 at 5:30 pm #254022I’ll give him a second chance if he apologizes like Nuttall did.

Files sent to Companies House do sometimes take a day or two to appear on the website, I’m surprised the termination of the directorships of the former owners has appeared already.

January 26, 2023 at 5:39 pm #254025It does take a bit of time Ben. Not sure how long in this case and if it’s something to be concerned about or not. If it’s like that in a month or two I’d be concerned!

The Coolsilk charge has been satisfied by the look of it, BUT there is still one outstanding charge (and only one) and that is to “Svenska Handelsbanken Ab (Publ)” and signed off by David Beeby in 2015. One assumes that Mr. Hilton has this in hand………..
January 26, 2023 at 6:52 pm #254034Anyone know whether Alcazar is still with us over 3 months since his last post?
January 26, 2023 at 6:57 pm #254036I haven’t seen any “I told you so” posts, so probably not!!
January 26, 2023 at 7:10 pm #254038Neil Wright going down like a lead balloon on Facebook, no message while swann was in charge but with a new owner in charge posts support for Turnbull. To little to late in the main.

Is anyone surprised?
New Chairman.. New broom required. Ask Simon and Ian if they’re willing to join the board. other local businessmen who want to help.
A suitable Fan rep has stepped up to the plate this week.
Take Mahoney’s blazer off him.

January 26, 2023 at 7:59 pm #254047Turnbull needs to apologize for the crap he came out with. Neil Wright can piss off though for my liking, as said above he had nothing to say instead of suggesting fans should be charged due to invading the pitch. Now a new chairman is in he’s singing like a canary, he needs kicking straight into touch.
How the hell can he represent the fans ?. I mean come on, he must be living in an alternate reality. Part of this new start is clearing crap out and he’d be the next one to go for me.
