A difficult fixture.
Won 6 of their 8 home games. Losing both the other games 0-1.
They’ve only conceded 4 goals in 8 home games.
A very early call – I’m going to go:
Bulls 1-0 IronThe game should be on, the forecast looks good!
November 26, 2023 at 4:16 pm #277437Just keep backing Scunny to win one nil. They will probably keep doing it!
UTI
November 26, 2023 at 8:57 pm #277446Pugh has been really good for them and he won’t be able to play against us. Ogle and Kelly will probably be back in contention.
I’ll go 0-2 to us. Roberts and Smith.
November 26, 2023 at 9:04 pm #277447Pugh has spent most of his time on the bench for them has he not?
November 26, 2023 at 9:41 pm #277449They brought him in because they were protecting their starters who had been out injured and returning.
November 27, 2023 at 1:35 am #277452Another tough game (arent they all WHEN AWAY) so unpredictable as to which Scunny side turn up.
Abit early but Im gonna go 2-2
November 27, 2023 at 9:51 am #277454Why we just can’t give another Banbury away performance is baffling, it’s what’s required and it’s more or less the same players who will be playing, just get on with it Iron and stop fannying about away from home.
November 27, 2023 at 11:19 am #277458Not sure if Hereford are all full time players – but as they have a tough game at home on Tuesday night against Scarboro, and we have a week to prepare, we should win at a canter. He says confidently! :)

November 27, 2023 at 12:20 pm #277461The Iron are back on their travels again, and are at mid-table Hereford, as stated above, Hereford have a very difficult game on Tuesday night against an in form team, at the same time Scunthorpe have a week off from the twice a week schedule, this should give more time for the injured players to get more match fitness.
Although Hereford are in a mid-table position, they are not winning matches at present, with two draws and two losses in their last four games, so on paper, we should be able to win this game.
Scunny are just crawling over the line at the moment in games, but with Tamworth still topping the league, we must go for all three points.
I will forcast a score of HEREFORD 1 SCUNTHORPE 3.
But any win will be acceptable !!!!!!!!
November 27, 2023 at 12:32 pm #277462Hope we set up to play OUR game and make them deal with us. Don’t like a negative approach as it invites trouble.
November 27, 2023 at 1:30 pm #277467If we move the ball quicker and get decent crosses into the box we will win the game, we all know our players are better than the opposition’s just go out Iron and bloody show it.

Strange seeing Pugh in NOT a Scunny shirt
November 29, 2023 at 9:12 am #277529Theirs for a nominal fee?
November 29, 2023 at 12:18 pm #277533Possibly so but I hope not.
November 29, 2023 at 1:11 pm #277535Out of interest Sanfran, if Pugh stayed who would you take out of the current team to make room for him?
He’s probably our 6th choice central midfield option behind Butterfield, Scales, Clunan, Shrimpton and Beestin…IMO of course.

November 29, 2023 at 2:18 pm #277545Pugh while not being as talented as other players from a technical stand point is very effective if used correctly. Pugh is somewhat limited but as a simple midfielder used to break up the play, I doubt there would be many better at this level.
I know we have to watch the wages but he’d be very handy to have around because if anything happens to Clunan and we need a genuine sitting midfielder I would choose Pugh over Shrimpton personally.
I think Shrimpton’s the better player overall but Pugh far exceeds him when it comes it the ugly side. I would be tempted to get him back fully fit and confident and send Jenkins back to Leeds.
As I said further up, he’s been doing really well for them and don’t think he can play against us so that would be a bit of a hindrance for them.
November 29, 2023 at 2:41 pm #277546Yes WG, he has to sit the game out.
We do tread a thin line.
Sell / move on the higher wage earners? … but, if we are promoted, then we don’t want to be left with just any Tom, Dick & Harrys.November 29, 2023 at 4:36 pm #277569Sorry for not replying BLT – thought I had.
Anyway I would leave Alfie out – with Tom you will always get 100%, he also does the job that he is asked to do. And he will not be a big earner and the present board will be looking to get expenditure under control asap.

November 29, 2023 at 5:26 pm #277571The game as got to be in some doubt with the weather only getting colder.
November 29, 2023 at 6:31 pm #277574Down to -3 overnight Thurs and -4 overnight Fri. Hope they have some decent frost covers as I’ve got my ticket and don’t fancy it being rearranged for a Tues night in Jan/Feb!
November 30, 2023 at 10:28 am #277630I hope they have a look at 3pm tomorrow to see if it will be playable at the same time on Saturday. Coaches are setting off at 8,30 on Sat,they are going to put the covers on today.

December 1, 2023 at 7:51 pm #277778Hereford FC General Manager, Jamie Griffiths said: “Thanks to the great work of the volunteers yesterday, the pitch is currently in a perfectly playable condition, with the covers doing their job and the pitch being protected from the overnight frost last night. At present we remain hopeful that the game will go ahead as planned. However, we appreciate the distance that Scunthorpe supporters, and many Hereford fans will need to travel tomorrow to get to the game, and we are committed to providing an update as early as we can tomorrow morning to help supporters plan their travel accordingly. After discussions with the match referee, we have arranged for a local referee to take a precautionary look at the pitch first thing tomorrow morning and we will aim to provide an update for supporters by around 8am.”
Can’t do better than that, well done Hereford.

December 2, 2023 at 8:54 am #277790Hereford OWS:-
“An EFL match official has carried out a precautionary pitch inspection and is happy that the pitch, whilst firm in places, has a good chance of being playable by 3pm. We have liaised with the match referee and Scunthorpe and will continue to monitor the pitch, but we are confident that the game will go ahead. We are planning to remove the covers at 10:30am and are calling on our fantastic fans to help.”December 2, 2023 at 8:58 am #277791Shite Scunthorpe again still nothing on there mediums that the game is on.they say they appreciate us but do they really?
