Dear Ernest
Your latest delusional, derisory, deflective podcast was very poor and it’s not only you that is not wanted it’s your character flaws and constant bullshit, cowardice in the face of failure, blame for anybody or anyone but yourself, constant promises which do not materialise and the plethora of reasons or excuses of why nothing ever changes is achieved or improves.
The fans are not there because of YOU and YOU alone, for all the reasons outlined plus during your self publicised spats with the Council, individual supporters, the local newspaper, local businessmen, former chairman and directors people were seeing you for what you really are and for a man of your reputed means and stature it was both unbecoming and counter productive.
It is noticeable how your early meetings with supporters attracted the most gullible and most believing along with the cynics.
Before long the cynics outnumbered the believing and whilst the cynics camp has grown among those still supporting the club and those protesting by staying away the believers are no longer even seen at games.
If the clubs supporter base had grown at the same rate as your personal anti-ernie club rate we would be premiership.
Seemingly unaware to yourself you have alienated entire communities, the local community of Scunthorpe and the wider football community.
Family members, friends, neighbours, work colleagues even complete strangers look at the plight of Scunthorpe United FC and know where the blame lies and the name of the man responsible.
The National media through several reputable newspapers like the Guardian and Telegraph has exposed your frailties and the clubs performance under your tenure. Are they all wrong, are we all wrong?
We Iron fans shared the same anger now directed at you from the football world when Bury FC demised. You can kid yourself all your like mate your name is mud from Lands End to John O Groats
The entire football world is watching with bated breath over the immediate and long-term future of the Iron.
There is an undercurrent of positivety just waiting to burst when you finally depart.
This club will see the supporters return, fortunes on and off the pitch turn around all on a positive aura which will be lifted when you and your toxic reign ends.
It won’t only be goodbye it will be good riddance.

July 21, 2022 at 1:55 pm #241048Very well said Ironking, you are fully corredt in all that you say, I put a similar piece on the forum earlier today, but for their own reasons “the moderators removed it”, it was not in any way out of forums rules, but moderators do what they think they should do. Anyway with a bit of luck the club will be shut of Swann, but it will not be as simple as that, but why the hell anyone would wish to buy the club in its present status, god only knows, but all we can do is hope that Swann has a little bit of a feel for the club and its remaining supporters, and just ask for a realistic price, what ever that is.
Good luck Ironking, but do not be shocked if your topic is also removed.July 21, 2022 at 2:37 pm #241049but why the hell anyone would wish to buy the club in its present status, god only knows
Well if he’s looking for a complete cut, which it sounds like he is…despite us being in the national leagues, it’s still somewhat of a black canvas for new owners to mould and shape as they wish.
That’s one solid reason as to why people would be interested.

Many a true word written in error!

July 21, 2022 at 6:37 pm #241059I know you lot are sceptical but Swann sounded like he wanted out…we’ll have to wait and see.

I gathered that. I was meaning the scepticism more as a collective response of all the forum posters. I smile regularly thank you and smiled when Swannster said he agreed a price for the club.

jesus that was another thing he started ranting about saying how it was sands stadium or something and slagging of the fans some more , honestly couldn’t keep up with that interview
July 23, 2022 at 3:15 am #241131Something is amiss, Ernie kept saying the fans don’t want him here, when normally he has blustered through with “when you are the chairman you are there to be shot at,” or “in all walks of life when you are in a position of responsibility or leadership there are always people who want to have a go,” Usually followed up with “I have broad shoulders and can take whatever people throw at me.”
I don’t believe he is any nearer to selling the club, just setting up the fans to depart and blame us for not wanting him.
Just a thought, oh and for good measure the consortium will pull out because the fans were ungrateful.

July 23, 2022 at 9:08 am #241133I do so hope you are wrong.
This is the IK end of the spectrum – the opposite to the WG end.
I’m rooting for WG’s view, of course, and always attempt to be optimistic if I can.Is there any possible centre ground here?

July 23, 2022 at 12:12 pm #241140Yeah he did say that, but judging by that interview they will be attending every game then.
