Come on then let’s be having you. Going for Keith Hills first win as Iron manager, no particular reason apart from the obvious improvement under him as a team, the law of averages and it’s about bloody time. Saw the highlights of Hartlepools win over Rochdale and they basically scored with two attempts whereas Rochdale looked a much better footballing side and should have been out of sight long before Pools scored their first goal. Come on Iron get your fingers out and bloody win a football game.

The OWS:- “Graeme Lee’s first home match in charge of Hartlepool saw a five-match losing streak in League Two come to an end with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Rochdale.”

George Taft:- “We’re focused on each game at a time and we’re going there to win. They’re on a good run but I think it’s something we can do.”

Well George I suppose a good run of one win in a row might suit us at the moment.

It’s taken us 4 games Cass to get 3 points so I guess getting 3 points in 1 game is a good run.

Another 1-1 draw, but as Cass says, Pools narrow win last game followed five straight league losses, so they can be beaten, but I forcast a 1-1 draw, followed by good wins against Bristol Rovers and at Oldham, and being a top predictor tha I am, just see these come up!!

Though I’m hoping for a win, our defence is looking shaky at best so not seeing 3 points away from home I’m afraid. 1-all draw for me as well.

    Loft & Jarvo up front.
    Must be 4 – 4 – 2

Seeing as we don’t do clean sheets and we don’t score more than one, I’ll say 1-2. A penalty and an own goal to give us the much needed 3 points

I can’t see Hill getting anymore out of these players. We are harder to beat but still dire forward line no creativity and zero chance of staying up. Oldham 4-1 at home to FGR fought back to 5-5. We have nobody who looks like a striker on the pitch.

Another hard game to watch. Its f***ing dire

It’s looking like Hill doesn’t fancy the loanees. Gallimore before Hackney & Bunn before Scrimshaw.

    Jai Rowe. Some real promise.
    IMHO, Jarvo outperformed Loft.
Hippo looks like a real find. Can be better than Eisa -contributes more.
Beestin had a good game as did Onariase.
My feelings about Millen are distinctly mixed.

What happened to Taft? – Injury or simply subbed?
    Where is Perry?
News on Kenyon, Davies and Hallam?

Bunn got some useful minutes under his belt.
    GK did well – again.
Gallimore did not look out of place.

And – what Cass just said!

    I’m so glad Hill came.
We’re now on course to finish with 35 points, which will keep us up…oh… wait.
    Nope, still going down.

And what news of the mythical paying off of the EFL loan, oh happy clappers?

The improvement in just a few weeks is significant and we are drawing games we would have lost but we need wins and it’s hard to see where they will come from without a goal scorer.

The massive improvement to still not good enough shows just how dire it was. And although the improvement is quick it was allowed to be so shit for so long that it’s still not happening quickly enough.

Another away point is fine but we need to win home games starting next week hopefully. Interesting to hear the Humberside perspective both Newy and Burnsy were very impressed and Burnsy who hasn’t seen Scunny this season said that there is plenty of optimism going forward as the entire team gave everything today and he’s full of praise for the job Hill is doing. Hope his optimism is justified.

You could tell after five minutes this was going to be a nil-nil.

With two poor forward lines the only way either side was going to score was from a mistake or a set piece.

We’re better organised under Hill. We press more and are generally harder to beat, but we create very, very few chances. Our one and only corner came in the last minute, and it didn’t beat the first defender.

On a positive note our young midfielders did not look fazed and with a bit more composure Gallimore could have got the winner. Hippo caused them problems (have I really just said that) and Bunn looked like he could add an extra dimension if he stays fit. Apart from a couple of sliced clearances Rory commanded his box well. Taft was no miss second half. I don’t know how he did his groin, he didn’t exactly exert himself in the first 45.

But we desperately need goals from somewhere.

Three good signings in January and we might have a chance.

    “Three good signings in January”?

    Two points NI:

    1. That would be a first under Swann.
In fact one would be surprising.
    2. Has he paid off the loan? Is he going to? Because if not, there’s not likely to be even one digning, lrt alone any good ones.

But hey, what do I know?

The loans can go home for me (and probably for Hill too) Pugh and Gallimore are no worse than Hackney and Wood and a fit Bunn (big ask I know) would keep out Scrimshaw in my book.

On recent showings Billson should not take Watson’s jersey.

Yes, we’ve little confidence in Swann right now, so we can only hope Hill is his own man and not beholding to the cygnet or players agents.

    Keeping them crossed until February!

And although the improvement is quick it was allowed to be so shit for so long that it’s still not happening quickly enough.

Completely disagree. From where we were to now is like night and day, we look unrecognizable in a sense.

I’d even go as far as to say if we had 2 half decent strikers we’d have turned these draws into wins. That’s what will possibly let us down and that’s not Keith Hills fault.

I think with the work he’s down over what, 3 weeks?….has been nothing short of a miracle considering we were a team that were knackered after pressing for 35 minutes.

Togetherness, hard working, much improved fitness, least we look like a football team now and in Hippolyte he’s turned him into what looks like a top end league 2 player. That in it’s self is bonkers.

We seriously need wins I’ll agree on that but Hill’s doing the most he can with a pretty shit hand he was dealt.

Les, Perry is injured “groin” don’t think he’s far away. Davies not sure about. Hallam is a lost cause. Kenyon is 3 weeks away. O’Neil despite him being absolute dog mess, came back 2 weeks ago and broke down again so he’s another lost cause.

Loft was subbed again today, he seriously needs to get a grip of himself because I can’t see anybody wanting him with the way he’s playing. Loft is poor at the minute but on his day “few and far between” he does have the ability to score though.

Jarvis is more consistent throughout the 90 minutes and is a work horse but never really looks like scoring “besides that bullet header”

Bunn sounded like he added something though. I just hope to god Loft pulls his finger out sooner rather than later.

I’d go Loft and Bunn next match. I despite Loft at the moment for the way he’s playing and I like Jarvis but he never looks a goal threat.

If and this is a big if, Loft can somehow turn it around…I still think he’s a bigger goal threat than Jarvis. If we had a better striker then I’d start Jarvis without doubt as he’d be the ideal foil but needs must and we need goals.

This is how bad it is for striker options at this club !

Kenyon and Davies were in the stand with us today, nice touch by Hill to put them in with us, good PR, kids having photos with them and a chat with the fans, they sang along with the songs, all in all they seemed to have had a good time, Enjoyable game and still trying to win it in the last 15 minutes when we probably had our best spell impressed me, even if we go down at least we’re trying now and that will do for me, if we’re not good enough so be it.

Well done guys, a good point today, and it will be all the more important with wins in our next two matches, my draw forcast was correct even though it turned out 0-0 instead of 1-1.

Keith Hill swwms to have got a big improvement to the treams performances, and with three good signings in January, things could be ok. I just cannot see why Loft was selected, he was hopeless once again, and he must be dumped in January if not before, Scrimshaw should always come before Loft, and I still think Hackney is worth his place.

Now the Iron appear to not lay down and let teams come at us for the last 30 mins, but why the hell didn’t Swann get rid of those waste of time so called management in Cox and Lillis, they should have gone last January, but so many so called supporters wanted them kept on “because they are very nice men”, what a load of balls that turned out to be, the same people now agree with this, but lets hope it isn’t too late.

Echo previous post .. IF ONLY Cox n Lillis had be relieved of their duties sooner and Hill in a few weeks / months sooner .. thats hindsight im afraid.

MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT under Kieth hill … but only ANOTHER DRAW .. thats 4 on the bounce in L2 if im not mistaken, whilst great not to loose its wins that are needed and looking at the current table its hard to see a way out of this mess with our current tame strike force and lack of any real threat in the final third…hoping Hill can remedy this in January.

I watched the game on internet as usual and some highlights (use the term loosely) here via YT

also Gareths excellent Ironarmy vlog .. maybe some of you guys are included and well done to the 300 plus who made the trip on a freezing wet n windy day.

Some huge games coming up notably Oldham , Carlisle ..real 6 pointers , in truth every fixture is massive now and come the New Year things will be all the more clearer.. hopefully on a positive side.

For the most part Covid restrictions lifted here from 16th Dec so my business can re open which is great but means more traveling so harder to follow the footy and the forum.

Early i know but wishing all members and Iron fans a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Not easy but .. KEEP THE FAITH .. UP THE IRON… CLARET N BLUE ALL WAY THROUGH..

Scrimshaw should always come before Loft

Thing is we need a goal threat and a clever player up there to link things together. Bunn definitely added something and despite it being very early on, if Bunn is picked as an option upfront then we need a bigger option up there.

Loft, despite being an underperforming pain in the arse still has more chance of scoring than Jarvis. I like Jarvis and would do a job as a foil to a much better striker than himself but we haven’t got one in the building and we need goals.

Jarvis while offering far more to the team in 90 minutes than Loft does, I’d still say if Loft actually turned up then he’d have more chance in scoring than Jarvis.

Jarvis despite his work rate/team work, never usually looks like scoring. Sad state of affairs when I’m thinking about going with Loft despite me wanting to currently strangle him for playing so poorly.

I wouldn’t want to go with Scrimshaw and Bunn either as the ball would be forever coming back. Not sure Hill really rates Scrimshaw as he’s not been getting a look in of late.

    Where’s big bad Turan ?

It’s not really an issue about points tallies. All we have to do is gain more points than three or four of the other bottom teams.
If we fail and better just two – the likelihood of survival is still extremely high.

Suggests to me that Hill is trying to get through to January with our players rather than those on loan. Quickest way to get players in January is to send back the loan players he doesn’t rate and get 5 new ones in if the rules allow it.

Let’s hope the rules and current deals allow him to send this lot back and that Hill has good contacts and he alone chooses the loan players.
