The manager’s summary in his interview was ‘pityful’
Don’t think anymore has to be said – other than he seemed overly nervous and on the brink of saying something he shouldn’t.October 9, 2021 at 7:32 pm #215183Well what a waste of half a tank of petrol and eight hours of my life that was!
At least the Iron fans turned up which is more than the team did.
Powder puff defending (never seen a team have as many free headers against us). Zero creativity. No pace. Nothing!
Completely pathetic, and Harrogate could fill their boots. Surprised it wasn’t 10-1.
Can’t see any way back from here. We’re dead in the water unless drastic (and I mean drastic) measures are taken.

October 9, 2021 at 7:45 pm #215187Hard to sum up that performance- definitely the lowest point of watching Scunthorpe over the years.
There’s no point even debating tactics/formations anymore; this team WILL finish bottom of the league as nearly everyone is not league standard. No new manager coming in will change that.
Cox is horrifically out of his depth and needs to walk. His record speaks for itself.
This won’t be the low point either

October 9, 2021 at 8:22 pm #215198The manager’s summary in his interview was ‘pityful’
Don’t think anymore has to be said – other than he seemed overly nervous and on the brink of saying something he shouldn’t.it was interesting that he actually said that some of the players are just not good enough (even though he signed most of them).
He did sound a broken man though, I suspect he would like to walk but if he did he wouldn’t get a pay off so has to wait for the bullet.October 9, 2021 at 8:42 pm #215202Swann is the main one to blame but Cox is a close second. I get the budget is low but Morecambe had a low budget last season and were promoted so it can be done.
This is Cox’s squad of players he stated had determination and character and supposedly signed “winners”.
Nobody can hide from the fact that this is the 2nd squad of players he’s managed now that’s he’s not been able to organize or get them to listen to him.
This can’t be 2 groups of players fault. Look, Cox I feel sorry for as asking a rookie manager to turn this club around was always too much to ask but he’s absolutely clueless and won’t make it as a football manager, he’s not cut out for it.
The warning signs were there even from the 1st games of the season when Cox commented that at times they were doing what they wanted like last season.
They clearly don’t listen to him and he’s unable to put any kind of structure into, not only this team but the last one too.
Miles out of his depth. In an ideal world Swann would give the clubs assets back and stick the club up for sale shortly after the sacking of Cox but we all know that won’t happen so best we can hope for is Cox to be sacked and for us to sign an experienced manager who may be able to get some organization into the team.
Cox should have been sacked long before now but if he’s still in a job on Monday morning then we really need to protest “peacefully” and really speak up because if it wasn’t serious already, it’s really hit home now.
Even at this early stage, the fat lady is warming her vocal chords.
That was shameful today, really was.
October 9, 2021 at 8:45 pm #215203Cox his staff and players should he made to walk home from Harrogate. Then keep on walking with the person who’s the real reason behind this shambles.

October 9, 2021 at 11:44 pm #215236I was at the game today, my work colleagues is a Harrogate Town fan and he got me a ticket so not only did i have to suffer the embarrassment of the result but i did so in the middle of a load of jubilant Harrogate fans who couldn’t believe how bad we were. I did notice Cliff Byrne sitting a few rows across from me making notes. I don’t know if he was watching Wood or one of their players. (We made them all look good), but he left when it was 5-0 – maybe he is considering putting himself forward if and when Cox gets the bullet.

When I say he left at 5-0, I mean that he left just before we scored, about 10 mins from the end of normal time
October 10, 2021 at 12:23 am #215240Cox has now destroyed his legacy at SUFC, yes fans will remember the good times but he’s miss placed his faith in his managerial ability and as result most fans won’t think of him in the same way!! Shame… but If he’d gone earlier he’d still be respected!!
Absolutely mess!!
October 10, 2021 at 1:01 am #215242One squad to not have listen to you is bad enough but this is a near new squad of players and it’s happened again.
No structure, No patterns of play. Funnily enough we looked like we started to turn a corner when we had Hippolyte and Pugh in CM but he ripped all that up and we’ve gone backwards.
Cox signed Kenyon and Bunn and they’re both crocks which doesn’t help. Cox said post match that the team was naive but when it was pointed out to him that Davis and Taft we’re experienced at the back and we have other experienced members in the squad he was somewhat caught on the hop.
I would say comfortably that Cox is the worst manager we’ve had by quite a distance. I understand it’s far from easy for him to work under these conditions but to have 2 different squads of players not listen to you is extracting the urine.
Cox’s man management skills must be absolutely shocking in all fairness.

October 10, 2021 at 6:48 am #215244I think you meant to say that he is in the same category as Dickie Rooks and Ron Bradley.

Spot on les but in fairness to WG he wouldn’t have been around when you and I and indeed many others on this forum were witnessing the twin disasters of Rooks and Bradley. Unfortunately looking back at Iron managers from decades ago doesn’t help our current position one iota, maybe a bit of perspective but that’s about it.
