only McGahey missing and he is back in full training, hoping for a win, but this is Scunthorpe United so expect the unexpected.

Players will be physically ready but no doubt they’ll be a lack of match sharpness.

    Ugly 1-0 win

Scrappy 1-0 win, VanVeen off the bench to nab the winner and reclaim his title of greatest player ever to wear an Iron shirt, whilst sporting that stupid beard.

Clarke starting with Jai Rowe on the bench.

Didn’t we bring in another RB, or am I imagining it?

Seemed an odd signing at the time and even odder today.

I thought he signed because the club was worried Clarke was long term.

    Clearly not.

Only question mark for me is what more does O’Malley have to do to sustain a place in the team?

Other than that happy with the team and pleasing to Karacan straight back in.

I’m getting a bit fed up of the lack of attacking intent from this Iron team…

some great results of late are papering over the fact we offer next to nothing in the oppositions half!!

Bit harsh shooter, harrogate were using the wind advantage well, second half will tell us if its them having more intent then us.

Obviously delighted to be ahead and i’m happy I tempted fate!

I just don’t want us to keep playing so deep all the time waiting for a long ball or a counter attack, we’ve got some good attacking players and should really be making it harder for teams.

You are right shooter, it was a poor match and we didn’t do enough attacking. Strong wind probably helped to spoil the game, plus through not playing we had dropped to 20th. Too cautious but our defence looks good and we needed the 3 points!!

Not too worried after a three week layoff. I expected worse.

Get Kev firing again and we should do better. Next two games will be tougher than today’s though.

Excellent result even if the performance was scrappy. Thought Onarisie and Loft were outstanding, can’t believe the transformation in Loft since Xmas: First touch, passing and finishing have all improved and he now looks the real deal.
Great time to score aswell, how often do we concede just before or after half time usually ?

Credit to the team and Cox again tonight

I thought two or three players looked as if they had a pound of lead in each boot.
The performance ought to be better on Tuesday. Good job we were only playing Harrogate, today.

Surely if the defender doesn’t try to engage or tackle the attacker it can’t be a penalty! March was just throwing himself all the time and I had just said the ref was buying it then he gave the penalty.

We now have a full strength squad so he is playing with better players, the shape of the side is helping him as he has support in Devarn and abo instead of running around on his own.

One of the most embarrassing performances I’ve seen from a team trying to cheat to win free kicks and penalties. Harrogate should be ashamed of that today. Pathetic. Glad the ref seemed to catch on to it 2nd half.

Onarise was superb again. Hopefully not injured and just off as a precaution.

I have to agree with Darryn, diving all game, not our best performance but we managed 3, still very defense minded but I would be happy if all those involved today are with us next season, I hope Jem will stay seeing we give him a chance of a return to football and really I think we were a little match rusty today, great result and two cracking goals from Loft and Spence, I thought people were saying a few weeks back that Loft was rubbish.

March has try something different after getting bullied by Onarisie all afternoon.

I just cannot believe that so many Scunny fans are saying that we where poor today and it was a poor match, Harrogate came to Scunny today being the form team of League Two, and had scored good points in their last 4 or 5 matches, we had not played for three weeks and although they should be full of energy, match practice was very short for our team, so although Harrogate probably had more possesion, I think that they did not make many goal scoring chances, Scunny scored three cracking goals and Harrogate scored a penalty which was never a penalty in ten years, it was a result of their player taking one of his twenty dives during the game.

    My player ratings for todayare:-

HOWARD—-7—Nothing much to do really, but looked ok.
CLARKE—7–Playe well enough and overlapped a lot in 1st half.
BROWN–7–A bit shakey first 15 min, but played very well after that’
BEESTIN–7–Solid match an got stuck in, played well.
TAFT—8—I like this player, gets through a lot of work and is quick.
GILLIEAD–8—As usual worked very hard, some good runs and crosses.
ONARIASE–9—As usual, my MOM, he plays well every game, a very good signing.
KARACAN—8—Played well on his return to the team, he will be a good asset.
GREEN–7–Started well for 15 mins, then faded badly and went missing for long spells.
LOFT—7—Ran his socks off and was knackered when subbe, some need passes.
EISA—7—Well I do not know what to say, a couple of good runs, but some terrible passes.

    subs—BEDEAU, HALLAM—7—SPENCE AND KEVIN–8–.

REF—7—Di ok apart from that terrible penalty he gave them, also should have restrickted their constant diving, but in generl kept the game going and we have had a lot worse.

COX—8—Did well today, but we could do with a bit more play in the other half of the pitch, funy how no part played by Rowe and O’Malley, but at least there is no signs of Turan and Hippolyte, but where was McAtee???

In general, a very good three points and four wins on the bounce, and it should have been four clean sheets also, because it was spoiled by that stupid penalty.

Clinical finishing and decent defending won us the game. Super!

The other bits were not so good. It’s a long time since we have misplaced so many passes; there were often few outlets when a player stuck in possession was looking to find a man; movement off the ball was ponderous and the intelligence we have come to expect was sagging a bit. (And yes, I know it was windy.)
This game was about getting rid of the rustiness.
With players staying fit 7th in the league can yet become a reality.

Harrogate have a few good players – and that cheating forward looks a real find but overall, we should now be expecting to beat teams like that on a regular basis.

McAtee and Hippolyte were left out of the squad according to Neil, I also think the ref eventually sussed that March was going down very easily and didn’t fall for it but how he never got booked for diving I don’t know, the goal disallowed looked borderline and their defenders weren’t really appealing, but Barton has got it pretty much right.
