    Soon enough SST.

Don’t think pre-match excitement is running at fever pitch with the Iron faithful these days.

Our lot to be overawed by the opposition as once again the inspirational Cox tells them they are playing a very good side. It would be interesting to ask Mr Cox if he thinks other than us if there are any sides in the division which aren’t very good.

Think is dad used to go to foxhills, and used to play footy with all the multitude of lads in Sheffield park.late 60s early 70s. So good on ya if you score tonight.

Looks like 442 with best available players in their positions.

Is it too late to change my Prediction League choice?

    Agreed. Looks like 4-4-2.

Time for the big ego McAttee to fill his boots?

I’ve had to mute the TV. Appalling commentary. Can’t take any more of their deluded biased nonsense. We’ve battered them and they reckon 3 of the 4 goals were borderline!!

5 goals away from home and a penalty in one match, that’s too much to take in.

    Thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
Quicker, sharper, more intelligent all over the pitch. Making the correct passes in the final third and players being in the right positions off the ball.

Good to see the full backs pressing forward and giving Eisa and Gillead more space and time on the ball; Eisa was excellent and has clearly been told to stop cutting in every time.

Mcatee was up for it and linked up brilliantly. Good to see Loft and Jarvis get on the scoresheet too; want to see Loft in those areas more often now.

O’Malley impressed and will serve as a suitable deputy for Brown.

So pleasing to watch us play like that tonight and not retreat into our shells after going 1-0 up.

    More of the same please

That was a glimpse of what Scunthorpe can be, and just aren’t too often. Harrogate were garbage- favouring kick and rush at 100mph on a very ‘non-league’ park- and we coped admirably.

Felt the game took a while to settle down and on a park that size it was a little bit like pinball. We held the ball really well and were lucky to see Eisa on one of his ‘on-song’ nights. Harrogate struggled to contain Eisa and I thought he took his goal from open play very well after a cracking through pass from McAtee- the moment of the game for me.

Once again was very impressed by McGahey and Onarise who really have built up a good understanding. I thought young O’Malley had a very good game too and didn’t look at all phased.

No failures on the park this evening and the players as other have said looked comfortable with the system. Credit again to the side for their workrate and quick thinking at difficult times.

Yes we got a little bit of a rub of the green at times but I think after the last couple of season we deserve a little bit of that. We won’t be up against guff like Harrogate every week but the players should use the result as a springboard to push firmly away from trouble in the next few weeks. I hope the management resist the urge to tinker with this formation and work with it as the baseline foe the rest of the campaign.

Finally, good grief, but where did that commentator come from. Count Arthur Strong on nasty hallucinogenic steroids. There’s a global conspiracy against little Harrogate you know, at least three of the goals were dodgy. Sides can be second best in this league and still win you know. At non league level half of Town’s chances would have gone in. The ball keeps falling kindly for Scunthorpe and the people running the game are rubbish.

I bet if we all tune into the stream at 2 a.m. he’ll still be online, sitting in a darkened stadium, continuing his deranged monologue. Aural haemorrhoids.

Good performance against a poor non league team in an appalling pitch.
Dealt with their long ball rubbish well and could have had a few more.

Also if people aren’t aware you can choose between home and away commentary so you could have listened to humberside rather than whatever rubbish was being spouted by the Harrogate team.

Easily the best season performance so far in terms of attitude, link up play and goal threat. All played well. Pleased I invested my tenner after some indecision. Only negative is a tidy Bolton side only score one against us yet a poor Harrogate two.

Apparently that’s the first time we have won three away on the bounce this century!

So even in the halcyon days of Sharp & Keogh or Hayes & Hooper we didn’t rack up nine from nine on the road.

Which begs the question why have we been so bloody awful at the SVS? Can’t blame the fans or the pitch, so what the hell is going on?

That’s a false stat. In 06/07 we won 3 away on the bounce on three separate occasions. In 04/05 we won 3 away games on the bounce once, in 08/09 we won 3 away on the bounce once, once in 13/14, once again in 15/16 and twice in 16/17.

Not according to Sky Sports: –

“Improving Scunthorpe claimed a comfortable 5-2 Sky Bet League Two victory at Harrogate to match their best run of consecutive away league wins since 1997”

Good performance against a poor non league team

They must be doing something right, they’re not badly placed in the table..granted they were poor last night. Harrogate had defensive injuries which crippled them.

I know we’ve had a dodgy start but when everybody’s fit and firing we have a top 6 side .Playing like that last night with Gillead and Eisa running riot, we probably would have beaten most league two teams.

This is why we shouldn’t be giving teams like Bolton too much respect.
