So as we sank from the EFL without trace, fight or any pride our inglorious leader was absent still. Busy waving the White flag hoping to attract a buyer.
Stories are emerging that some of our senior players (deliberately not calling them professionals) refused to train or merely turned up as and when they felt like it to the training ground.
The absolute lot of them are gutless and clueless. Off the field issues were endemic of our performances on the pitch.
Acceptance of this was another managerial failure on and off the pitch.

Are football managers exempt from this universal truth? To what extent does the manager set the parameters?
May 12, 2022 at 10:16 am #237280I would have had more respect for hillock had he named those who disrupted an already crap season and made the fight for survival even harder.

May 12, 2022 at 11:23 am #237287It has been happening for too long. Exactly the same under Cox.

Then they should ave been properly “ managed” out of their contracts and the door !!

May 12, 2022 at 1:07 pm #237290I feel that on most of the occasions players just turned up at GP and claimed injury, the number of players that were on long term so called injuries is nothing that other clubs encountered, fans just accepted that certain players would be unavailable because of being injured, I wonder how many of these injuries were fake?????
For so many players to be effected this way, must point the finger at the clubs medical staff and training staff, I have stated before many times, why is so and so still injured, after reading this latest rubbish, why were these players that did not wish to play, or even train for that matter, sent home and suspended, surely they could have been binned, and off loaded from the wage bill.
The more that we hear from GP the more I feel so happy that I stopped getting my long term season ticket, but still being annoyed for all the money given to the club with iFollower payments during the past two seasons.
HOW DO THE FANS THAT CONTINUE ATTENDING MATCHES FEEL WHEN THE NEWS COMES OUT THAT SOME OF THE SQUAD DO NOT WANT TO BE SELECTED, ADDED TO THE FACT THAT THE CLUB OWNER DOES NOT WISH TO ATTEND MATCHES. SORRY FOR USE OF THE WORD (MATCHES), WHEN THE TEAM HASN’T WON A GAME FOR 17 GAMES, (MATCHES) IS OBVIOUSLY THE WRONG WORD FOR ME TO USE.
The corrupt things that have happened at our once little loved club over the past few seasons, non-league football is surely the best place for Scunthorpe United, it has been unmanaged and steered down the Swanny into probable none existance, sadly there does not appear to be a cure!

May 12, 2022 at 1:40 pm #237292Some players only want to play and can’t be arsed to train, Hakeeb and Townsend fitted well into that bracket. Should the manager have just folded and given in to them?
May 12, 2022 at 3:00 pm #237294I guess some saw the state if the training pitch and thought I ain’t training on that
May 12, 2022 at 4:54 pm #237298I wonder what form the training takes?
Fitness/stamina training? Well certainly not under Cox!
Defending set pieces? Doesn’t seem likely!
Shooting practice? You’re having a laugh!
Passing? Well obviously not to teammates!
So given what the subs get up to at halftime it’s probably keepy-ups. Very useful in the midst of a relegation dogfight!

May 12, 2022 at 7:18 pm #237301The head of recruitment did a great job on researching the attitude of these players.

May 12, 2022 at 8:36 pm #237303May 12, 2022 at 9:03 pm #237304Like most goings on at football clubs you only get to know the truth once a book is in publication, but if the rumours are true then certain players should hang their heads in shame.
With all the young players in the squad they needed guidance and role models to help them settle into a very different game them youth team football, it is endemic of the goings on at the club in the last 4 years that the opposite happened.
We have to get rid of all the dead wood at the club but that will need to be done at all levels of the club from the very top right through to the very bottom, every day we hear things and you think now surely not.
Unfortunately the surely not appears to yes that’s right, players refusing to train, players refusing to play, and players not even turning up to training, we need a new owner that will come down with an iron fist and say you do as all the others do or don’t bother expecting a wage.
If every day people refused to do their job or didn’t bother turning up they would sacked and that is what should have happened to these players, in hind sight we can now see why all of a sudden the youth players starting to get games not just squad members.
We are the laughing stock of the football world where players do as they like and the club has been completely run into the ground, it is heart breaking to hear these stories and a pair of fingers to the fans of the club.
We used to be a honest hard working little club with players that wanted to Play for us and when they did they gave it everything on the pitch, but this season appears some of the players took the piss from day one and should never be allowed near the club again.

May 12, 2022 at 9:36 pm #237306The Manager is 100% responsible for player conduct and behaviour.
If any player breaks the rules on more than 1 occasion they should be immediately suspended and removed from the squad list. Supporters should be aware of why players are no longer available for selection and termination of contract hearings started.
No wonder there was no chance of survival because they were allowed to get away with it. I would rather have seen non league free agents given an opportunity.
Highlights the shocking mismanagement at the club throughout the season.

Topics: 11Sanfran must be blind to the fact we have been playing youths recently because Hill has ‘removed from the squad list’ senior players! 🤦🏻♂️
As for revealing the details there’s a thing called confidentiality when it comes to employment contracts.
May 13, 2022 at 6:51 am #237310I don’t see anything in his post that states details of contracts should be revealed?

I believe our manager was worried that he wouldn’t even be able to field a team, had he fired or even suspended the wage thieves. If that is the case then I expect to see a big old clear out in the near future, I didn’t see enough go in this years ‘retained list.’
Kieth should be able to do his job without constraints, not just from the poss tots in the boardroom, but those here posing as footballers who just can’t be bothered.
Get shot of em Kieth!!

May 13, 2022 at 7:48 pm #237343Totally not safe to assume the players he got rid of in January were a big part of the problem, Hill did comment on all the ones that left and only Green left by mutual consent, so maybe he might have had a attitude problem but no one else, well that’s assuming Hill was telling the truth.
May 13, 2022 at 8:08 pm #237345Hippolyte was always sulking and moody and if told off disappeared.
Perry is a complete and utter arrogant twat liked by no-one.
One player was allegedly sacked and not paid went to tribunal and failed to turn up twice!
Don’t believe the latter as a tribunal could rule in absence.
May 13, 2022 at 8:39 pm #237349Reading these posts only makes me more dispondent! Think it’s time either Hill and Turnbull or just either one of them just told the supporters the bloody truth, get it out there and tell us the supporters what really has gone on.
I know they will be under legal constraints but surely they can tell us enough to clear the air with the supporters, if Hill stays then like he says he has to have full control of the players he brings in.
I for one will be waiting before I commit to buying a season ticket,
We keep saying that things can’t get any worse but my god they do and it it is unbelievable what we are hearing.I would like to say I gave Mr Swann my backing for a very long time but now have to say how wrong I was! He has ruined our once proud little club to an extent that it’s is touch and go if the club survives.
