June 9, 2023 at 5:06 pm #264186Well, here’s a thing, if we’re not playing at Glanford Park, why is the pitch looking so good in the new signings photos?
Unless it’s greenscreened.2 users thanked author for this post.
June 9, 2023 at 5:07 pm #264187I would hope their focus would be safety. Nothing to do with them any legal wrangling over ownership or tenancy issues.
Do I hear a faint clutching of straws in the background?

Unless it’s greenscreened.Yeah good point the pitch does look like its been well taken care of not left to rot … some one still must have a set of keys as all the new players have been photographed there.
June 11, 2023 at 9:45 am #264286been talking to a Gainsborough Trinity Director this morning and asked him if we get kicked out of Glanford Park would we be playing there and he said they haven’t been approached.

June 13, 2023 at 1:14 am #264363Yeah but why let the truth get in the way of a nice miserable moan?
‘It’s the chairman, it’s the manager, it’s the happy clappers on social media.’
Maybe it’s the miserable bar stewards that haven’t one good word to say about the club they say they support.

June 13, 2023 at 8:12 am #264368You seem to be moaning more than anyone at the moment. Both on here and the Scunny Fans Facebook group. Quite sad to start a thread on it over there causing the exact unrest and division you claim to be against. Whether you like it or not, you can’t expect supporters to think exactly as you do. Some may agree with you, others won’t, so perhaps be more of an adult and accept that rather than initiating a playground pile on on another platform?

June 13, 2023 at 9:43 am #264377Many of those berating criticism of Hilton will also be moaning if things go more awry, when Hilton sceptics will inevitably say “I told you so” and criticise them for backing Hilton. Some after backing Swann too. They will then call for unity or understanding from those they slammed.
Of course I hope this doesn’t happen and if it does, the I told you so statements won’t help. However, I suspect ironinsider and others would make them and I won’t have full sympathy to some, given the way they have reacted to people who don’t just accept whatever Hilton says.

This is a more interesting comment that some might think.
I’d definitely come under the “Hilton-sceptic” camp here but it is not because I haven’t got one good word to say about the club. It’s precisely the opposite. It’s because I care about the club that I will always question those running it. What are their intentions, what are their motivations, what is their background? Because I want what’s best for the club and I don’t want its name to be dragged through the mud. Look at what the last 10 years have done to us: we’re a complete laughing stock and even when we were flying higher under Swann we were deeply unpopular around the leagues for splashing the cash & a chairman who picked so many arguments with people in the game. I want Scunthorpe United to be respected as a club, not just for its achievements on the pitch, but for what it means to the town, for its youth teams, for its social engagement, in general for doing things the right way.
I found it almost impossible to proud of the club under Swann and I don’t want to feel that way again. Hilton, for me, has got off on completely the wrong foot and has made many of us very sceptical. It’s on him now to change that perception.
Ultimately, I’m an optimist and want what’s best for the club. I don’t want us to go the way of Bury, Darlington, Chester, or many other non-league clubs. I want a Scunthorpe United we can all be rightly proud of.
Up the Iron, up with questioning.

June 14, 2023 at 10:09 am #264421Once bitten, twice shy.
So many Iron fans have been hurt, and yes, even damaged by the events of recent years.
They are concerned but whenever somebody perhaps overstates the anti-Hilton case, naturally enough, they adopt immediate panic mode.
Am I Hilton-sceptic? – Not especially. I feel that there might well be a sort of ‘shape’ to what is going on but I consider that we have no realistic choice other than to wait and see. There really are no other feasible options.
The trouble is, we are all now trained into being so fearful it is wholly unsurprising that DH has become a bit of a target.
My greatest fear is that he may not be a wrong ‘un at all and feeling unappreciated he may just decide to call it a day.2 users thanked author for this post.
June 14, 2023 at 10:16 am #264422He has the bulk of the support in your position, at least, les. If he is going to call it a day because a smaller number question him, then maybe being a cult leader is more of his thing.
June 14, 2023 at 10:49 am #264426Occasionally pop over to the Town Forum to see what they’ve got to say, one of them posted twice on Happy Clappers asking for more info on the proposed ground and it’s funding.
They wouldn’t put it up.
Are we surprised?June 14, 2023 at 11:13 am #264429Yes, it is interesting Ferrite. I’m sceptical but for good reason. I sincerely hope Hilton comes good and can make supporters proud of our club again. I’m not convinced so will have to wait and see. In the meantime I’ll keep questioning. If he’s the real deal a small minority of sceptics on social media shouldn’t matter in any case. Aside from the players being signed, the support and sponsorship the club is generating is a real positive, so people are clearly on board. It does irk a little to be told to support the Cods, not a true supporter, wants the club to fail etc. Particularly, when it comes from lads haĺf my age who have known mainly good times. The sort who support a Premier league club too and wouldn’t have dreamt of watching the Iron almost every home game c.1977-83 and endured many many away games with 30-40 others on a cold winter week night watching another beating.

I find it hard to believe that any businessman would walk away in such circumstances, having spent the money he tells us he has spent.
June 14, 2023 at 1:28 pm #264436There is a difference between being sceptical and a difference between choosing to act like Interested Bystander. I say as I’ve said before, he’s not even a Scunthorpe United fan. In my opinion he’s nothing more than shit stirrer who like to cause disruption and division.
Iron insider is a cut from the same cloth. I get people are wary of Hilton, you’re right to. I can’t say I’m comfortable in trusting and being as heavily reliant on one man but just give him a chance.
No doubt he could be rotten but he also could be good for us. Case of watch this space !

Your problem with me is that I don’t sing the baseless tune that you keep humming, whereas if I was on here blowing hot air up Hilton’s posterior without any foundation whatsoever, you would be clapping like the proverbial sealion. There lies the problem and highlights the difference between me and you, I deal in facts whereas you’re gambling and hoping.
June 14, 2023 at 2:42 pm #264445You may deal in facts, but you never present any!

Cracking post.
I imagine Lord Kitchener will internally combust trying to process a dual position on the matter
