Listening to the radio today cant help but feel envious of our neighbours Grimsby Town having new owners who are local people to them and have been supporters of the Club for a considerable time. They sound genuinely interested in the football, the town, supporters and the local infrastructure. They say they will also engage and listen to supporters and allow the manager to make his own footballing decisions. I hope Swann was listening to the broadcast. He could certainly learn a lot from it.
But the major issue for GT is the relegation. The virtues of the new owners are all well and good but will they help the club to get back into the EFL anytime soon? Only time will tell.
I noticed that two Grimsby MP’s commented on the takeover and while one was ‘gushing’ because they are a fan the other was more impartial and mentioned that over the past few years John Fenty had prevented the club from ‘going under’.
I think sometimes you need to take a step back and be careful what you wish for.

Was the supporter of Fenty of the same political stripe as the Conservative council member for Humberston and New Waltham ward? Just out of curiosity.
I reckon most Grimsby fans would rather be in the Conference under their new ownership than spluttering along in the League under Fenty.
I’d advise Grimsby fans to view their new owners as I view every football club owner. If they tell you it’s Thursday, check your calendar, presuming they haven’t nicked it!
