Clearly don’t practice set plays, either defending them or putting a decent ball in. And hoof ball can only take a couple of minutes practice the way we play it. Question is – what do we do in training!? We don’t seem to be able to impose ourselves on a game. We have no obvious pattern of play.
Why did Cox just go down to their level. We kicked off, hoofed it out and never stopped tryin the same failing approach. Poor day for Cox

Typical Holloway. Destructive football of the worst but it was effective. We just weren’t good enough to combat it.
Marks? – Onariase 6 – everybody else not up to those dizzy heights – and he missed our only realistic chance.

Not to have a serious attempt at goal in a derby game is utter rubbish, our so called forward line is a joke, stop eisa and Gilliead and that’s it nothing loft,McAtee and Jarvis do not look like producing the goods on any sort of a regular basis ,no van veen, another striker who can score goals is an absolute necessity,I dread to think what might happen if van veen stays injured.

We could of rustled a more interested bunch on Bru to give a half decent go.
At least we would of turned up.

    Absolute dross

Sounds like Cox has issues with Eisa along with a number of others

His final comment in his interview is concerning, when his team have to battle he thinks they will struggle.

Cox is way out of his depth.

We need to try very hard to get rid of three loanees in January.
It’s very clear which areas need strengthening. I doubt that any of the three are with us at bargain rates.
Get another four or five out on loan, if we possibly can.

Three semi-decent players in could change the team substantially.

How many times do you have to hoof the ball up to our useless forwards before you realise it’s a complete waste of time!

Not one chance from open play all match. One piece of play when they passed the ball to each other for more than 3 passes, just after the Cods scored, in the whole match. Never tried it again.

    Hopeless!!

Hurst in running for Bradford job according to my Bantam mate.

The players today were just not good enough in both ability and attitude.

Swanny’s policy of getting rid of the better, more experienced and ultimately more expensive players over the past two transfer windows is looking like false economy.

What he’s given us is a larger, yet inexperienced and unbalanced, squad comprised of players who are not EFL standard. Maybe half a dozen are good enough along with some of our youngsters, like O’Malley that given time will be.

Injuries haven’t helped but that doesn’t excuse the poor attitude of those who took to the pitch today. What wouldn’t we give for Matt Lund or even a Rory McArdle now?

What the hell has happened to our club?

The answer to your question Northumbiron is that Swann is in charge and he remains totally incompetant with everyone gradually descending to his level.

An absolute crap performance with players who’s commitment and ability needs to be seriously questioned.
Cox does not escape criticism either as I presume he was responsible for the tactic of just hoofing the ball forward and no plan B when it obviously did not work.
One of if not the worst performance I have seen in 60 years of watching the Iron.
To make the performance and result even worse is that Grimsby are as bad and they still beat us !

That must rank as one of the worst all round team performances I have seen in my 69 years of supporting Scunny, they had no skills, no effort and no clue when once again playing a shite team, I cannot recall even one shot of ours on target during the 95 mins playing time. Grimsby had just the one kind of shot when once again Howard gave them the goal, when he was too slow in handling a deflected centre, as stated during the week, Loft must be the worst centre forward the club have ever had, he should feel guilty when holding his hand out for his wage packet, my markings for today are :-

    HOWARD—–3
    HIPPOLYTE—4
    BEDEAU—–6
    ONARAISE—6
    CLARKE—-5
    SPENCE—-5
    BEESTIN—5
    GILLIEAD—5
    EISA—-4
    MCATEE—5
    LOFT—-2

    JARVIS—3
TAYLOR—-3 Did he touch the ball?

ref—3—Constantly blowing that bloody whistle, 30 free kicks, and got a few things wrong.

COX—3—Has no bloody clue and should be sacked today, how can forum members support this clown???, again Hippolyre at full back, McAtee subbed at half time for Jarvis, Cox is a very luckey man to still be employed.

SWANN—3—Why no apearance and him not asking where the club is heading under Cox!!!!!

MATCH SUMMARY—2—This was dire and a disgrace to be presented as League Two football, and was a complete waste of £10.

    , NO PLAYING SYSTEM

    Swann!

    Swann happened.

I did try to tell you all, but was roundly shouted down, mocked and even insulted.

Well, it looks like you have all got what you deserve.

IF we stay up this year, it won’t be because of Swann, Cox or the “players”.
It’ll be because there are two teams worse than us….and with Southend now unfettered, there may be only one😢

It’s quite clear Cox has absolutely no motivational ability whatsoever, he usually just switches the team off at HT today he didn’t even turn them on.
I was fortunate enough to only listen to it on the radio and it sounded dire, if i hadn’t seen the teamsheet I wouldn’t have known Loft was playing as I never heard his name mentioned.
I didn’t understand Clarkes after match interview, as club captain if he was as passionate as he says why didn’t he do something about it on the pitch.

I don’t think it will be long before Cox is gone he’s probably only still here because he cheap.

Let’s not forget Mark Lillis. If a Scunny lad and the guy who flew the flag ahead of that playoff semi can’t motivate this shower then something is desperately wrong.

I suspect there’s more to it than Cox’s lack of managerial experience.

Two and a half years ago Martin Luther Swann said “I have a dream”, to have a team consisting of u23 players and young hungry players from non league and released league players with two or three seasoned players, who with a young manager will play exciting attacking football, unfortunately for one reason or another isn’t working out, we have had one or two decent results but the performances have been very non league at times, so after a last gap winner on Tuesday we thought the players would have had a lift but when we have played teams who have had bad results we perform badly and create nothing, we are certainly missing McGahey, Brown and Van Veen and again today we haven’t troubled the keeper, but got to admit the result and performance didn’t surprise me.

Reality is we need to offload Olomola, Turan, Jarvis and release/flog Mooney…we need 3 new strikers.

Loft has reverted back to type. We have absolutely nothing going forward.

Going on today’s lack of performance, why didn’t Cox bring on Green and stick him up there with Loft?. I don’t know why he keeps sticking Jarvis up there.

Don’t even get me started why he chose Hippolyte over O’Malley…a shite LW at LB, instead of playing a really talented youngster who’s a natural player in that position.

Hippolyte’s another that needs moving on.

Eisa needs to get a grip as well, he’s been shocking of late.

I don’t think Cox is up to it long term either, we shall see. Cox signed Hippolyte stating he as a good player….not sure who he thought he was watching.

Come January we need 3 strikers, a LW, a CM and possibly another CB because it’s evident we really miss Mcgahey. Bedeau isn’t up to it and Cordner’s dog mess.

Worse performance today in a fair old while, putting it that performance is shocking in a supposed local derby. Grimsby were crap themselves.

The biggest crime is that is by far the worst Grimsby team I have seen. If we had tried to play a bit of football and passed the ball to the nearest man we would have won. No attempt to play thought the midfield or the wingers. Every ball aimed at the worst player on the pitch Loft and then he brings on Jarvis, the perfect clone of Loft.

Loft is a bit like Cordner in that they’re ” big units ” but when they scrap it out and they get overpowered a few times, neither of them want to know.

Loft would be ok with a partner with him but not as a lone striker..if he was more like Torpey then maybe but not this version of Loft.

I can’t remember Steve playing as a lone striker very often unless we were down to 10, but he certainly would put himself about and Loft seems to play better with another striker with him and I don’t class McAtee as an out and out striker.

You may be right WG, but it would be interesting to tot up the number of minutes each of them have spent on the pitch in a league game. Not many I’ll wager.

Seen enough of Jarvis to realise he’s not league standard. Yeovil and Carlisle have seen more of Fela since he signed for us and as for Mooney and Turan – no bloody idea!

Dales pretty much permanently on loan for eighteen months. Hallam seldom featuring. Swann has said we need to cut our cloth accordingly yet he continues to sign players who rarely pull on the shirt.

    Baffling!

All 3 loan players need sending back.

Hallam can go as we have McAtee and Van Veen who plays there.

Butroid needs letting go as we have brown and O’Malley.

Those strikers mentioned need shifting and Hippolyte needs flogging for a small fee back to the conference.

Turan, Jarvis and Hippolyte will be hardest to shift as they’re on 2yr contracts.

Olomola, Butroid and Hallam may be fairly easy to shift as their contracts are coming to an end.

As a matter of urgency we need at least 2 strikers and 2 CM players.

Also another left winger is really important because while Eisa is talented he’s equally as slack at times…he strikes me as a player who can’t be guaranteed a first team place otherwise he’ll become too comfortable and at times do the bare minimum.

If Eisa signs the new deal that’s been offered and somebody comes in a with a decent fee, I’d be tempted to take it if we have some one good enough already lined up.

As long as another Hippolyte doesn’t end up here to replace him.

It is easy Wondergoals for you to say shift these hopless players, but who have we got in the club that can choose replacements???, whoever the club sign these days are players that are not good enough to play in League football, just look at the past 20 players brought into the club, andname one that is of any use!!!, you can say the same with the managers that have been selected. Thos situation all points to the top management, I have supported Mr Swann over the years, but if you sit bacck and survey his results, you will see that his predictions have been:- we will build a New Stadium at a cost of 40 million, then when this fails a second site is found and we will then build it here, after another failure, we then will rebuild GP, one side after another, then we also need to build 60 apartments near the car park, so after seven years of listening to these ambitions we still have not sank one pile, still sit in the Cluggy peering round roof support structure. We are at the same time going to progress from League One into the Championship, but over these years, we have gone from the League One play off’s into the base of LeaguebTwo, and with this present squad can easily find ourselves in non-league next year, we keep being informed that we will be watching attacking entertaining football, but nowadays we play very poor teams like Grimsby, can we cannot see even one shot on target in the 95 minutes playing time, but although all this is true, after seven years, when will anything ger a bit better, what is the next prediction, WILL IT BE THAT THE CLUB HAVE GONE BUST ??????

We have some pretty decent players but no depth. I have been pleading for us to go for solid, know-the-division, League Two journeymen for two seasons.

To be fair to Clarke I thought he was the only one who put in a few strong challenges and played as if it were a derby.
