If that had been a financially viable option, I think that might have been the case.

May 2, 2024 at 6:38 pm #285148I did not want Jimmy Dean to be given a new contract for footballing reasons but this OP is crass beyond belief.

Have a Bacon and Sausage cob and a cup of tea and wait for it to blow over duck.

Having seen a selection of his tweets I’d say he’s getting off lightly from me

May 2, 2024 at 7:47 pm #285159Having not seen a selection of his tweets then I am obviously at a disadvantage here.
Perhaps you could share and justify your vitriol.
May 3, 2024 at 8:52 am #285192I’ll not bother uploading pics to justify myself to you ,nobody ever justified their abuse aimed at us in the name of Dean and Hilton, I will say this his foul mouthed interactions with people who questioned his comments about England’s black players on twitter and support of the likes of Farage ,Johnson and Reece Mogg tend make me think he’s a wrong un. Not as nice a guy as some on here claim that he is
May 3, 2024 at 9:04 am #285193You can only judge on what you find 64 and I have not seen any of that evidence. As you probably can tell from other posts I am not a great fan of any kind of racism or of right wing nut jobs so had I seen such evidence it might have changed my views on how nice a guy he was.
Either way he proved to be not very good at managing a full time professional football team so I am delighted the board found him too expensive to rehire.

May 3, 2024 at 9:07 am #285195I am amazed how much he seems to have bonded with the fans, given how completely uninspiring he was. Compare him with Adkins – who would convince you north was south, backwards was forwards, that everything was possible. Dean would come on the radio after a defeat and sounded like his world was about to end.
I appreciate he was dealing with issues off the field but I never got any sense of leadership from him. If he can’t excite the fans, is he motivating the players too?

I suspect the first part of your sentance would be more of a reason for their decision than any financial consideration.

May 3, 2024 at 9:49 am #285212Exactly Cass, other than what Elliot watches when he goes to games, Michelle saw what we saw and if she’s anything like us would have being screaming inside for Jimmy to get the team on the front foot.
Most fans gave Jimmy every chance but like many before he failed to adjust his tactics guess Michelle was the same.2 users thanked author for this post.
May 3, 2024 at 10:40 am #285221I suspect the board are majoring on the costs of Jimmy and his two mates.
It deflects any Stelling type criticism for not offering a contract to to man who led us to second place.
Need not have bothered as we have long since dropped off the radar of the likes of Sky Sports.
Bit or sarcasm in my earlier post Cass.

This had a lot to do with the whole club situation itself. He was here when it was about to go pop, and he was still standing when it didn’t.
May 3, 2024 at 11:13 am #285227Should have gone when Hilton did
But Michelle had enough debts to pay off without adding to the pile by paying off Dean’s contract and hiring his replacement.
Waiting until his contract expired was always the best option.
And but for one missed penalty it could have ended on a high.
May 3, 2024 at 11:28 am #285231Looks like the contract wasn’t expired after all according to the latest podcast. If so we are potentially paying off another management team unless a clause was inserted within the deal.

WG assured us it was so it must have been true.
May 3, 2024 at 12:33 pm #285237If they are paying him off that says even more about their faith in him delivering next season.

May 3, 2024 at 12:50 pm #285239Not sure, something has certainly happened during the last few days. If he was going I’d imagine it would have been announced on Monday. This seems to have come out of the blue.

A quick recap on the whole seasons results suggests he wasn’t as inspirational as some of the fans think. We lost and drew with a good few crap teams.

Do the Iron Hour people have any knowledge or is this WG style guesswork?
Jimmy signed an 18 month contract and no extension has ever been announced.

The game was Saturday, Sunday was a rest day for all concerned.
Perhaps not all of the Board was available for a meeting immediately on Monday, so it was held over ’til Tuesday (or whenever). If you’re running a Board that is seriously co-operative then you wouldn’t just ‘fire’ someone from the important position of team manager and announce it like flicking a switch. You would discuss the whole situation and make your suggestions for a new scenario without that person (and with someone else). You would want to discuss and negotiate with the person who is leaving etc etc etc (particularly if, as seems to be the case, it was a contract not being renewed rather than a sacking). I don’t think announcing it a mere few days after the game indicates ‘something happening’ this week that is untoward. It seems to me to indicate Michelle and co have handled it calmly, decisively and relatively quickly. Professionally, in other words.

If it was an 18-month contract then maybe there was some negotiating to do over pay (etc) for a couple of months outstanding (if there were a couple of contracted months outstanding at the time of leaving, that is).

May 3, 2024 at 1:34 pm #285247Well, yes, it hasn’t been 18 months (18 months was what was reported at the time) exactly yet since Jan 2023, so any remaining time will have to be allocated for. Still better than giving another year or more deal then having to pay out because fans have turned by September.

I could have sworn I read he was on an 18 month contract so appears we’ve paid the last 4 months of their contracts up.

By something happening I was indicating to a disagreement over budget rather something untoward.
