I must admit that I was surprised finding our league goals scored record is only 88 in season 1957/8. We’ve scored 46 from 21 games so far this season. What’s the chance of it being beaten this year? We may need another couple of 6’s.
1938-39 we scored 133 goals from 42 games.
I took those figures from the match programme. I expect they are taking the stats from 1950 when we joined the football league.
We can’t exceed our FL or EFL record number of goals scored as we aren’t in the EFL.
We won’t exceed our Non League record (133) of goals scored in a season. We’d need to score 88 goals in the remaining 25 games.
The author / editor of the programme should know that and should be more accurate with their narrative.
