I’ll heap praise on Scunny if no one else is, for achieving the family excellence award along with the gold award which was only given to twelve EFL teams. Well done all involved.

To be fair to Glyn he does a great job as the bunny interacting with kids and trying to whip up some kind of atmosphere pre match, but that’s all we have, the bar must be pretty low for these awards if that’s all you have to do to get one.

Agreed the bunny does a good job, that apart nothing for kids.

Totally other end of the spectrum I know but been to villa few times with my lad this year, a family zone full of inflatables, coaches doing dribbling, shooting drills with kids etc facepainting jugglers kn stilts going round outside the ground interactinh, all that kind of stuff
A little bandstand with local bands on playing a mini set.
Makes for a almost full day out rather than just attend the match, families arriving 3 hours before kick off spending money around the ground.

We just have the iron bar,ok for adults, boring for kids

Well not much praise there after all , what a surprise! We win praise from an independent source and the club still gets derided Mmm.

I think awaywego’s point is perhaps that, granted, the club fail in many respects, but supporters are not forthcoming with praise when it appears to be due? What I would say to him is, what do you expect? Are you really surprised, given the cons far outweigh the pro’s? And if so, why? Is this just your latest misdirected pop at fellow supporters?

Match day experience at Glanford Park is bloody depressing. Even back in the Wharton days all you’d ever hear is people moaning. Granted there is a LOT to moan about these days, we have been well and truly screwed.

    Swann’s a cnut.

Just to be fair Deerey that’s all when we do get things right, 2 free tickets for under twelves must go along way to a good family experience, not one club I went to last year offered this, a shout out is given to new junior supporters, junior download on the on the club web page before every home game. At the end of the day posters need to take that chip off their shoulders and give credit where credit is due or just keep quite, it’s not as though Swanny will have any thing to do with family experience is it.

You’re right, he’s unlikely to know what’s going on with the family side of things. Particularly as he doesn’t appear know what’s going on with every other part of the club. If he did, surely he wouldn’t have made such a hash of it?

I think fans were happy to keep quiet about it till you brought it up. You don’t seem to be happy that fans are pretty quiet about it!

Correct Deerey, we shouldn’t keep quiet about the things the club do well.

Alongside the Disney Club Mickey Mouse Owners award that’s an impressive double.

Got to agree the free under 12 ticket offer is absolutely brilliant!!
Under 16 price really good too if memory serves me right.

Took my daughters (11 & 14) along this season and it didn’t break the bank.

Other clubs definitely not going as far as SUFC are to support family’s attending… it absolutely needs applauding and the recognition is great!

Getting families to attend is great.

Giving them something to cheer one they’re in is where we struggle.

No chip on my shoulder pal I just speak as I find and what I have found is that the overall match experience is shite as is the neglected dump of a stadium we sit in to watch us get dicked every other week.

Just think on Pat and be thankful that you don’t support one of those teams who don’t win awards. The award was for family excellence though, I don’t attend many home games for exactly the same reasons Pat, but that doesn’t mean we have to slag off the things the club do get right, unless they move the ground back into town the match day experience will always be shite but that’s never going to happen, all nothing to do with Swann just the Bradford fire and Pearson acting in haste he’s the man to blame I’m afraid.

Less to do with moving out of town (though it was / is a factor) and more to do with the tin can Pearson built and the current dross on the pitch. It’s always been pretty poor at Glanford Park but there has been times it’s been buzzing, particularly when the team are doing well, with some atmosphere at least. Add to that the declining state of the place and facilities, yes, Swann is massively to blame.

I didn’t slag it off, I said the standard must be pretty low for us to get an award and I will standby that comment based on my own experience.

But your basing it on your personal experience and not a family one Pat, I have listed some of the pluses won’t or don’t you except them? Contrary to what you say it does appear you are carrying a massive chip on your shoulder. Because believe you me the cost does play a big part in a family experience £23 pound for the 3 of us at Scunny against the £48 at Mansfield to name just one other.

It is very much to the Iron’s credit that under 12’s can attend for free.

Sadly the stuff the kids have had to watch these last 4 years has been likely to put them off football for life.

Not sure we are turning many into lifelong fans at the moment.

Given that Hull City won this award when the Allams were in charge, the same Allams that scrapped child, OAP and disabled concessions, it’s a very low standard.

Not really the case MK, my grandkids are hooked and one will get his first season ticket for the coming season, losing league status as not hit them like it has us, there hard as nails now no tears anymore when we lose, and hopefully plenty to look forward to.
