Yep myself my mate and our ladies went today, very good, well cooked, plenty of it all for an OAP rate of £10 per person. No room for a sweet and no starter required, excellent value for a very large plate of food. Beef, both well done or rare, Turkey and Gammon to pick from, or a choice of a mixture if you wish, much better food and value compared to when Ernest Prawn was running the show. Well done Mr Goat.
WOW the carvery is getting some fantastic reviews well done to all concerned… whilst a Sunday roast is available in numerous locations here they are at best ok and most certainly not like my old mam used to make.
The one thing food wise i truly miss are proper fish n chips , haddock chips n mushy peas i recall Scunny having a dam good selection of chippys (Carvers , Wilsons etc ) back in the day though i must admit my fav spot was Steeles in Cleggy. So many places try to do FnC here but still to find anything remotely like those over chippy counter variety in Scunny.
Do the SG guys do FnC Fridays ??
£10 is good considering it’s that for a basic burger in SG
Also if they get custom away from the Farmhouse(nothing against them but it’s a chain pub owned by a foreign investment company) the better.
IFA Wilson’s has come and gone several times now… The Green fronted one(Harry’s?)Taken most of their custom.
We have Turners in Spalding, a real old fashioned chip shop/restaurant with proper chips.
Upton Chippy Nr Gainsborough is the best around. Coal fired. Only open Friday evening and Saturday lunch. Take away only. Ocean Fish Bar in Cleggy is our choice there. UTWI
