Adkins wouldn’t touch us with a barge pole and who could blame him?

October 22, 2021 at 8:48 am #216268Why should another ex Iron employee wreck what should be a great relationship with our fans by acting as scapegoat for this club’s dire position?
Look at some of the abuse directed at Cox and Alexander, these are guys we should admire for being good for us then going on to have successful careers, not derided like they are.
Imagine Iron fans abusing Nige,it would be the ultimate betrayalOctober 22, 2021 at 9:28 am #216269Nigel Adkins return would be great but ill show my arse in Woollies window if it happens
Blimey you have been away a long time!!
October 22, 2021 at 10:35 am #216270Should he come? The jury is out. I dont think even SAF could motivate this lot.
I’m not really sure motivation is the problem with this team, I think the hard work is there. It’s more the fact they’re a bit crap, are set up far too defensively and don’t really have a plan on how to score goals or defend.

October 22, 2021 at 10:51 am #216271Agree with that Ferrite. I have watched nearly all of Cox’s 60 odd games live or on iFollow and I have never detected a coherent plan on how we are attempting to score goals.
We sometimes start with a defensive plan but it soon degenerates into most of the team retreating to the edge of our box and imitating a row of traffic cones.
We had motivation issues last season but first half of the Horrorgate game apart the team have put the effort in. I even think the team has considerably more ability than we are seeing – the tactics (or lack of them) that we employ must have the players as frustrated as the fans.

October 22, 2021 at 11:56 am #216273Motivation not a problem??
Having watched the Barrow goal again, can anyone explain what Millen was doing letting his man get the ball into our box. He put more effort into falling to the ground after they scored than trying to stop the Barrow player.
Hardly backs to the wall defending was it. Has Swanny cancelled the win bonus???
October 22, 2021 at 1:06 pm #216276Bit harsh on Millen, he’d just blocked one shot, chased out to close the cross down and it wasn’t his man who scored. Clearly knackered too – which is normal when you spend the entire game without the ball.
BTW, what those highlights don’t show is Barrow’s missed penalty when Millen ran at the penalty taker, clearly screaming something at him!

October 22, 2021 at 2:39 pm #216280How much pick & mix would you get for a fiver now I wonder?
October 22, 2021 at 3:18 pm #216281Can’t see were Millen was at fault with the goal.
October 22, 2021 at 3:28 pm #216286Another thing I noticed from rewatching that equaliser – we had ten (10) players in our own box. So when the ball broke to the guy on the edge of the area, it’s no wonder there was no one to mark him. Ridiculous.

October 22, 2021 at 3:42 pm #216288do you think that us being so defensive in games over the last 3 years, so our team putting more challenges in than the opposition is one of the reasons why it is 87 games since we had a player sent off against us while we have had 10 red cards.
info from IronStats on Twitter.
October 22, 2021 at 4:05 pm #216290That’s quite the stat, but makes 100% sense. Teams don’t really have to defend against us…when was the last time you saw someone break the offside trap bearing down on the keeper in a 1 vs 1 opportunity? Probably Eisa vs Bradford last March…which is how far you have to go back for our last win prior to the Tranmere game this season!
October 22, 2021 at 4:27 pm #216291The win against Tramere was a fluke, due to a penalty which wasn’t really a penalty.
Whichever way you look at it, whichever set of stats you look at we are shocking, and a lot of the evidence suggests it’s down to tactics, time for management changes.Taxi for Cox and Co.

October 22, 2021 at 9:08 pm #216302It should be a taxi for the SWANNS too. We watched the Bsrrow match on ifollow. We were a total dmbarrassment. This was down to Cox’s defensive tactics. We had the win in our own hands and Barrow looked a very poor side. Then Cox decides to take off the one player causing them problems, Scrimshaw, who I gave man of the match for the first half. Cox shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near to manage a football team. He is totally inadequate and completely useless. Could this be planned relegation and then liquidation?????

October 23, 2021 at 8:58 am #216308NLI you can’t use Cox and tactics in the same sentence surely.

October 23, 2021 at 9:14 am #216311Appointing Cox was yet another blunder in a long series of blunders in the boardroom at Scunthorpe United.
Given that fact that at the time of Cox’s appointment, the club was in the midst of a major cost cutting exercise, it was essential that the club appointed an experienced manager who had delivered good results whilst working on a shoestring budget. Instead, the board decided it was better to go with a manager who had no experience of the top job in the football league.
This mess is all on Swann, he needs to make a change before we find ourselves further adrift at the bottom of the table.

October 23, 2021 at 9:27 am #216313There has been a long term method in the presumed Swann madness Daz, cut the budget, employ an inexperienced manager, then sit back and wait for the long term method to come to fruition. The chairman is playing a long term strategy here, football has nowt to do with it, we all keep repeating ourselves over Cox but I think the majority are finally getting the full picture now.

As someone said previously Cox thinks tactics are little white sweets in a small plastic box.
