    Mr Swann

If you want the club to survive, boost attendance and put bums on seats, see fight & desire in the players and to give everyone a lift, get him in now and this season may just be salvageable!

    Just left Charlton.

Huge job for whoever and gets bigger for each game where points are given away.

Is Nigel the saviour ? Anyone want to discuss.

Could he save us? Almost definitely.

Would he / should he come and work under Mr Swann for buttons? Almost definitely not.

Yes Nigel could definitely keep us in the football league. His daily positivity rubbed off on the players and staff throughout the club. I should know I worked there. But the questions are does Swann want to keep us in the football league and would he be bothered if we drop out? and would he want to pay him a decent wage? On all questions the answers are most probably NO HE WOULDNT!

I would have our Nigel back in a heartbeat. I also think Crozzer would also be needed to sort our defence out. Notice how when we played Port Vale he was up on the sideline giving out instructions and encouragement whilst Neil sat with his hands in his pockets and looked clueless. This may cost Mr Swann a bit of cash but it certainly would be a statement of intent. I won’t hold my breath.

BARNARD, FOXTON and BARKER – what would the cost be if relegated to the National League. We have all seen that some clubs can go on an even worse failure spiral.

I would accept Adkins back too, i doubt anyone will have the ability to get our lot playing well enough to keep us up but at least it would create a little bit of buzz and excitement as right now its thoroughly miserable

Under normal circumstances I’d have said, don’t go down that road.

But desperate times call for desperate measures. Ideal timing and probably one of the few appointments that would boost attendances.

We must be around 1,500 down on gates since before Covid so Swann is losing £25-30,000 every home game.

The appointment would pay for itself.

I would relish the thought of Sir Nigel back in the Scunny dug out but I doubt that he would come to us as Manager as it would look like a backwards step for him.
However that doesn’t stop someone on the board asking if he would ‘help’ Cox a little, to look at things from a fresh perspective and bring a little positivity to the club and fan base. Yes it would cost money but not as much as firing Cox would – he could be employed as a consultant on a short term basis. They both have positive feelings for the club and both may benefit. Cox by having a sounding board to bounce off and Adkins for having a bit of a wage coming in.

Adkins would have to have rocks in his head to come here, as would pretty much any manager in our current situation! But I don’t think Adkins is the answer, brilliant as it would be to see him come back here.

Sanfran if we don’t do something we’ll be in the national league anyway and what would be the cost of that. I do like Jackie’s idea of Nige coming in to help Cox but I’d rather he was gone.

    Not for me.

He has absolutely nothing to gain from a career standpoint in coming here and I Don’t want to see another Scunny hero’s reputation ruined.

Totally in agreement with you BarnardFoxtonBarker.

Could lose far more than we spend if we get relegated, but yes we have to do something because every game is a likely point loser.

I no longer watch the Quest EFL highlights who wants to watch the low points ??

From a CAFC supporters group: –

“It’s a shame as he was a good man who came in with good intentions and started off really well.

But this season has started off poorly and just got progressively worse.

We know he was disappointed with how the transfer window went this summer. The club acted too late and didn’t really have a pre-season behind them, and the inability to put a settled side out in terms of fitness set Charlton back a bit.”

    Hmm! Sounds familiar.

I think he’d be out of our pay bracket. The only reason Cox has had this long is because Swann will most likely be sweating over finding the money to pay both him and Lillis off.

I should think Keith Hill will be more of a realistic option. I’d also use Lillis wage along with Cox’s to get him here and give McMahan a joint role in stepping in to be assistant manager on matchday, which he’s doing now anyway.

McMahan looks to have more of a role on matchdays anyway as Cox just usually is either sat or knelt with his arms crossed not saying a word and same with Lillis.

I’d rather have Adkins don’t get me wrong but he must have been on at least a few thousand surely at Charlton.

I just can’t see it happening. Keith Hill would be ideal…he’s used to working with peanuts as he’s used to always work under tight constraints at Rochdale.

Just a guess but Nigel puts 1200 on the gate – Keith Hill puts on 200.

    Nigel is the cheaper option.

But have Neil’s inadequacies as a manager ruined his playing reputation? I would say not. Similarly Nigel would be in a win win situation with regard to his standing as an Iron legend. Let’s not forget when he left he hauled Southampton from the bottom of league one to the premiership. His reward was to be replaced by Pochettino, albeit after our then Chairman said that the Saints weren’t a club he would recommend doing business with – perhaps Nigel should’ve heeded his advice.

Nobody is refuting the claim that Adkins would put more on the gates but that won’t change the fact he’ll be on far too much to fit into our current bracket.

I should imagine freeing up the wage for Adkins we’d probably have to get a player off the books or pay off 2 other staff members we don’t need to then fund him. I suspect it would take that and both Lillis and Cox’s wages to get him in.

All I was saying was that Keith Hill would be the more realistic option.

Should he come? The jury is out. I dont think even SAF could motivate this lot.

Would he come? I don’t think he’s either desperate or daft enough

Would Swann put his hand in his pocket to bin Cox/Mussy and get Nige in?

I don’t believe he would. I think the present scenario suits him and his aspirations fine.

Prove me wrong, Swann, ‘cos I’m not usually.

I have never heard so much rubbish in my life, get Adkins in to help Cox, that would really be an all time insult to Nigel, Christ Cox is beyond help with his systems and record since joining and ruining our club, yes as people say “he is a nice guy”, but the truth is “he is bloody clueless”, so why the hell should he not be sacked (apart from Swanns business plan of taking us out of the football league, there is no other reason for Cox being still at SUFC.

Nigel should be appeoached with good offer, probably not likely to accept it, but for Christ sake lets rid the club of Cox, Lillis and Mussa, the so called management team are clueless, and are costing the club a real lot of money with their methods, due to losing over 1,500 regular supporters every home game, which is even going to the extent of driving away fans from following the team.

The question is, don’t people think that 60 odd matches is enough to give them, the saying used to be give them ten more games, it now appears to be closer to two seasons. Since Cox tool over, the club have plunged to the present level of being 24th in League 2, with one win in 26 matches, so please do not suggest keeping the clowns in charge.

Nothing will be done until at least next week. This weekends game and result could well put things in motion. Adkins is a true
Football man and not being involved on a Saturday will hurt him. There could be a chance that in some capacity he would like to help us out. I am sure he has still stronge
Feelings for the club. He would be disappointed like us all at the demise of our
Club. He will probably feeling hurt and angry at the way things have turned out so needs time to recoup himself. We all know what a
Positive man he his and will want to get back in the game to prove the doughters wrong. The question is can he do anything with these players. If he does come he will
Want assurances that money will be available
In the transfer market in January.
I feel sorry for Neil, a local lad, who loves
The club but not given the right guidance by others around him. Don’t like to see people
Loose there livelihood but something needs to change. The chairman has a lot to think about and at the end of the day it is his money. Would all his doughters
put there money in each week to keep the club afloat ?
He has made mistakes, we all do, but please give him some slack. If it was me I would have walked by now with all the abuse and insults thrown at him. The grass is not always greener.

If Nigel takes us down to the national league then his reputation is forever tarnished. Lawsy, Wilcox, Dawson, Cox, Alexander have all seen their reputation deteriorate since managing under Swann.

I’m fully with Wondergoals on this one about somehow convincing Keith Hill to come here. He’s used to working on a limited budget and Will know what it takes to get a side organised and competitive in League 2. I expect his wages demands will be significantly higher than we can afford, but that’s up for Swann to sort out

Spot on. Hill is used to working under tight constraints as he did with Rochdale for years.

I suspect Hill would have been on a fair wedge but he’d be a lot more realistic. I did suggest binning Lillis and Cox off and using both of their wages to fund Hill.

McMahan has more input from the sidelines than both Cox and Lillis anyway by the looks of it so may as well just give him an official dual role as both coach and assistant.

I honestly can’t see Adkins wanting to come here and highly doubt we could even afford him. Adkins would have to travel from Cheshire everyday as well.

I’d loved to be proved wrong but can’t for the life of me see it happening.
