It was the ‘every corner of the community’ bit that stood out in relation to possible appliers. Be interesting to see if a diverse range of the community are recruited who understand every corner, not just the predominant ones.
March 28, 2025 at 2:27 pm #301020Looks like a shot across the Trust’s bows to me

March 28, 2025 at 4:09 pm #301037Been giving this fans voice kneejerk reaction some more thought. I think the club should revise the spec and number of reps if they really want to be serious about it. There’s a token ‘all corners of the community’ or summat, but no way is that going to appeal to less obvious sections of the fan base and town. There’s an opportunity here for the club to build on all the Iron in the Community work and let supporters and potential new supporters have a say and be represented. Otherwise there’s the potential of 3 Reform Dave’s, young, ‘mid-range’ and old as Gareth lazily suggested on the IH podcast. Club can do better than that and use this as an opportunity to widen the fan base, which is absolutely necessary in coming years. For that reason, I’d suggest 6 reps meeting monthly together, then with board to have a serious discussion about ways to improve, what’s working, what isn’t etc. with 6 reps you get a more diverse range of people from the towns many communities of interest. Scunthorpe’s always been a melting of cultures and migrants due to the Works. Opportunity for the club to recognise that now and be a bit more progressive.
March 28, 2025 at 4:12 pm #301038We’ll soon have that derided as woke!
March 28, 2025 at 4:14 pm #301040Oh aye, fully aware of that. But I think there’s merit in some of it, if not all.

I detected an inference in your post, much the same as you did from the clubs statement.

This exactly. It shouldn’t be rushed. Get the process right and the right people, and it could be a huge positive. Rush it or make it a popularity contest, and it’ll go the same way everything else like this goes.
March 28, 2025 at 7:00 pm #301086Is there anywhere that attracts a big enough fan group to discuss and bring forward opinions of fans other than trust corner, suppose Jerry and Gareth should be included.
What’s the designated fan supposed to do highjack conversations in the iron bar with people he doesn’t know.
Just think of your match experience, i go with me grandson straight in the ground, stand with the same person every week, and have a chat with ex workmate and 3 other awayday travelers, talk more about the football at the gym what do you do?The only big get together I see is on the train where we hammer out all of football good and bad points.

Have to agree with this. It absolutely has to be done properly, with the right people. As much as we trust Michelle and co, this should not be allowed to dissolve into some cosy cuppa and biscuits half-hearted gesture on the Club’s part nor some yes-man nothingness and nonsense from the supporters.
That’s why it should definitely go through the Trust, and why everyone who can join should join. The supporters should unionise, in other words.

We’re making a mistake limiting it to three people too.

There’s always an inference, like last week when I mentioned Ironhour and dragged up old posts about My football club. I’m usually right/!Accurate aren’t I ?.It’s the good info I get

March 29, 2025 at 5:28 am #301129A sellout, a man of questionable sexual persuasions and an idiot? No thanks!
We agreed on other posts to cut out the personal insults. So will you apologise to all other idiots in the world for the comparison?
March 29, 2025 at 10:23 am #301151I think the Board members are probably quite surprised that goodwill appears to have dropped off a cliff, and that the party line is being questioned. Their request for some ‘fan reps’ suggests to me that, partly, they’ve thrown their hands up in the air in frustration this week at their plan being impeded. It’s feels a bit like desperation, like they’re saying “Right, if you know how it shouldn’t be done, give us YOUR ideas on how it should, then!”
They should be talking to the Trust.

March 29, 2025 at 10:27 am #301153We give them plenty of free ideas on here – pity they don’t employ people who can come up with them themselves… and they are being paid!
