Butlers game management, is going to cost us big time, every time we seem to be cruising to a comfortable win he changes everything and we have to hang on and when we get caught out and we will it will be everybody’s fault but his.

Far to early with his subs as well, fair enough if your chasing the game but we weren’t.

I remember when we were struggling to score, and having 0-0s with a back 5, there were complaints that we were too negative and statements that people would be happy with 4-3 wins because of the entertainment. We get more of that and there are still moans and groans.

Criticism is fair enough for game management, but we still won.

Just because you can it doesn’t mean you should use so many

Subs sounded a little too early to me. Fine balance between saving legs and messing the team up. Just got away with it by the sounds of it.

Took a great save from fitz in final minutes to avoid a disaster though.

Everyone should be happy with the result but why make hard work of it.

AB has said several times in interviews that his substitutes have an influence on the game and don’t weaken the team. He’s wrong.

It’s an easy issue to bring up but it wasn’t too many subs that caused Boyce to f*** up and gift them the first and it was just switching off that let them in for the second, I’m just glad we have won the last two games and we’ve seen 10 goals, great entertainment.

When you take the four key players off two games running and the game turns on its head both times it shows something isn’t right, and it put us under pressure unnecessarily and certainly the balance of the team wasn’t right.

Beck did well and the free kicks he won and his headers certainly helped.

I don’t know if anyone else saw it but it looked like Boycey threw up on the pitch just before the match kicked off, I wonder if he was ill and hence subbed at half time. Blackett certainly couldn’t believe his luck with that header…

In fairness to AB both Whitehall and Beestin had run their nuts off and had good games, Roberts got trod on down the back of his heel first half and may have been feeling that and Clunan looked injured. Boyce was subbed at half time because his head was messed up after his blunder, it did effect his confidence and he was caught in possession twice in the first half after the cock up. Who’d be a football manager, can’t do anything right eh.

I don’t entirely blame Butler for his lack of game management, but I will slate his choices of players on the bench as there was no CM player on there. Wouldn’t it make more sense to put Williams on the bench instead of carlton to add a bit more balance to the bench options ?

I do however feel we definitely need another defensive midfielder in the building because if anything happens to Clunan, who else in this squad is there to bring on as an adequate replacement ?

No Shrimpton or Brogan now !

We don’t need 10 Centre mids in the building again. There’s more than a good enough squad there, work with it.

Interesting chat above, particularly for those, like me, who weren’t in attendance but listen to commentary much of the time. Appreciate the different ways we see a game and why I love Bru :)

Williams not fit enough to make the bench today but I agree he’s a good experienced player you need in when making midfield substitutions.

Presumably we can recall Shrimpton and Brogan as required and both will have been playing regularly which is at least good squad management.

Should change the back 4 and we’ll be quite solid,. I sense we are on the cusp of a championship run. We’ve got a lot of home games coming up and a few easy aways.

The subs weren’t the ones who switched off to allow their second. I thought Carlton and Fadera helped us to defend as it meant their defenders had to be on their toes and not push out and camp in in our box. We had numerous decent breaks when a better ball would have set up a decent chance, i think one time Scales had 3 in the middle and didn’t find any, we hit the bar (which if it was Beck his detractor’s would have called it a sitter), Beck won more free kicks than Whitehall (who the ref wasn’t going to give any to). I’d rather watch us keep the pressure on them and be entertained than sit back and invite pressure. Sometimes you have to risk losing to win. We had more opportunities to score a 4th than they did to equalise. I’ll settle for that each week.

Rumours are we’re looking at a 6’2 centre midfielder.

6 min in. Joe Starbuck presumably. Rene will be licking his lips with a name like that to play with.

Definitely still the need for a battler in midfield as we look lightweight.

After the subs we could’ve easily scored a couple more so they didn’t really bring us that far down!

It went a bit cup tie.Sick of this idea of holding midfielders. We need footballers who can play not restricted “specialists”
