June 24, 2023 at 1:14 am #264885Did anyone get whacked though?
With Hilton’s supposed extensive world wide criminal connections, that is highly likely !
I still laugh at that piece on fishy about Hilton. What a load of shite !
June 24, 2023 at 1:38 am #264887Anyone else thinking this is quite a hectic pre season schedule .. lots of fixtures close together , hoping there arent any injuries that keeps players out for the start of the season .. re the likes of Cal Roberts who is reported to be brilliant but made of glass…
oh not forgetting Rance im predicting he will be a regular in the physio room.

Saturday, July 29th – Burton Albion (H) – 3pmJune 24, 2023 at 7:28 am #264891Agents of players coming in seem satisfied with our setup; players old and new seem satisfied; more incoming; new accountant backers seem satisfied too.
Players opting NOT to jump ship; a Swann has stopped flapping its wings and hissing.
I may of course be wrong but I’m interpreting all of these things as being clues that there may well be people with a substantially better overview than some of our doom and gloom merchants.June 24, 2023 at 2:16 pm #264908Couple of questions Les:
Who are the new accountant backers?
Since when have agents cared that much about set up? I thought their modus operandi was commission from transfers and increased player wages? Unless I’ve got that wrong?
How do you know Swann has stopped flapping? Where’s that info come from?
Don’t get me wrong, some very good things are happening (good signings early doors, a groundswell of support from fans and sponsors, etc). However, there are huge concerns over GP still, and budget sustainability.
Ì’d rather this tribalism (clappers v moaners) didn’t exist but it’s difficult not to fall into that trap when critical thinking is frequently undermined or derided. Probably similar for those who are more optimistic who get tired of being labelled happy clappers. I think it’s wise to be cautious and sceptical though. Don’t want a repeat of previous mistakes do we?

June 24, 2023 at 2:36 pm #264909After Swann’s initial splashing of the cash without means to back it up catastrophically failed, I am surprised that scepticism over someone with less obvious proof of funds for a new stadium and high end (for our level) players is often derided.
June 24, 2023 at 2:55 pm #264910You’ve heard of ABU – anyone but United. We have a lot who are ABS – Anyone but Swann.
Promoted by the likes of Max Bell.
Anyone with a bit of knowledge of Non League is right to be sceptical too.June 24, 2023 at 2:56 pm #264911If an agent walks away satisfied ,I as a fan ,fear for the club Les
June 24, 2023 at 2:57 pm #264912Accountants Jackson-Stapleton are ‘main club partner’, DM. Would you want your financial firm associated with a dodgy enterprise? https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/june/jackson-stapleton-accountants-become-main-club-partner-ahead-of-2023-24-season/
I would have thought that agents’ reputations could well be damaged if their clients were directed towards a dubious deal. (Obviously, that is all about self-protection and precious little to do with honourable conduct.)
As for Swann, there has been a lengthy silence. Unusual. – May be tactical, of course.
I wrote some weeks ago that one of my legal eagles has stated to me that there appears to be a strong likelihood that DH is on top of the lease situation. No guarantees, of course, as our info is incomplete.
As for me, I admit to a wait-and-see policy – it’s just that, outwardly at least, matters now appear more positive than negative. A month ago I was 50/50.
I am just one more Iron outsider attempting to look in.3 users thanked author for this post.
June 24, 2023 at 3:58 pm #264918You’re right Les, no company would want to sponsor a dodgy enterprise. I wasn’t insinuating it was dodgy, but there are still big questions over the ground and sustainability.
Agents reputations? Don’t they live and die on getting good transfers and increasing player wages? They can’t legislate for a club potentially going tits up.
We’ve not heard a word from Swann since Hilton took over. Its not a case of him suddenly going quiet. Can’t see why we would now with lawyers involved.
Just trying to keep things in perspective here.

June 24, 2023 at 4:30 pm #264922Does Swann do social media ? Only time I ever heard him was on Humberside or a statement on the club website when he owned the club, well that’s not happening now is it. Most of the time he was blowing his own trumpet either on the website or the BBC, only time he really came on defending himself about a legal matter was when he was exposed in the national media for his gambling addiction. Don’t think he would have said a word about that if he hadn’t received national coverage about it IMO. If legal things aren’t going his way regarding the ground sale/ lease etc, would we expect to hear from him ? I don’t believe we would, it’s as it’s always been since the falling out occurred over the ground and land sale, it’s wait and see as most of us have accepted for awhile now.
June 24, 2023 at 5:44 pm #264928I don’t expect to hear from him full stop. Everyone accepts wait and see, they have no choice. That doesn’t and shouldn’t stop wondering out loud what might happen. If we took that stance with on field matters there’d be nothing to talk about. And wondergoals would be redundant…
June 24, 2023 at 6:06 pm #264933There’s always a bonus DM 😂
