Frank Barton and Graham Foxton the special guests in our restaurant tomorrow!
Ay ay ayay, Clemence is better than Yashin,
Barton is better than Eusébio and ****** are in for a thrashing.
Barnard and Rod Fletcher was my time.
71-72 Fletcher had a great season, after Keegan had left.
Most Fletcher goals came from passes out of CM to a (presumably) predetermined spot behind the defence. A burst of pace through the backline and he ran onto the ball – straight thru on goal. Very good at one-on-ones.
It just kept on happening.

I can remember him tearing Brentford apart at Griffin Park in 1972, Brentford were top and Scunny second til then.
Promotion season, just.
Wasn’t Fletcher holding down a full time teaching job at the time?
Fletcher must have had the straightest back in football!
The win at Brentford 3-0 was a memorable win ( I listened to the report on radio between 5-6 ,I recall),before getting my late evening telegraph sports paper delivered!)
One of Franks best goals for me was at the OSG against Bristol Rovers. Attacking Fox Street Frank cut in from the right at the corner of the penalty area. As he came in 2 Bristol players were coming in to sandwich tackle him, his timing was impeccable and he hit the pair of them and they bounced off. Just after that he hit the ball their keeper got set ! He looked behind him, it was already in the net. Headline in the nationals next day was “Jeers then Cheers for Barton as tore Bristols defence apart.
It says he is still in the USA.
