Fox News Settles Out Of Court

Wow talk about right wing media taking it on the chin and holding its hands up. $800 million settlement for Dominion Voting Systems because Fox repeatedly told lies over months on the air about Dominion’s vote counting machines being faulty and rigged to let Joe Biden win the 2020 USA election. It also stops Fox News hosts like Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson having to take the stand and admit they lied on air to the American public that the 2020 USA election had been stolen from Donald Trump when it clearly hadn’t.
Rupert Murdoch’s news corporation has a massive history of lies and falsehoods over a period of many years as his final legacy and long after he is dead he will be remembered for this as the cornerstone of his vast media empire. Way to go Rupert.
Great day for democracy over the pond but the lies from Trump and the right wing media that back him will undoubtedly keep on coming, they know no other way as detailed policy and addressing the issues facing their country is beyond them.

Still managed more social progress than Saint Jeremy in that he could win over the public, despite his very real flaws. This does include his PR courting of Murdoch. He is no great, and there won’t be any cultish chants of “oh Tony Blair” in the same way as there was with Corbyn.

I think the bigger picture is the fact that a huge news corporation will pay a huge amount of money out rather than air it’s dirty laundry in a courtroom. The internal memos and WhatsApp’s flying around Fox News over the last few years stating that they had to protect their business model over telling their American audience the truth is quite staggering. Their share price will only drop a small amount and they are cash rich to the sum of around $4 billion dollars but at the end of the day they are a news organisation that the wider American public ( not their right wing paying customers) now know that Fox News are a politically lying news organisation, that will count to the swing voters who represent the most important vote in the majority of elections worldwide. There is also another case being prepared against Fox News in a similar vein to this which is just over the horizon, as we say a lot about politics in the USA, interesting times ahead.

Strangely enough some people want to believe the lies because it suits their narrative, the truth is irrelevant to them.
The biggest casualty is democracy, without truth it just doesn’t work.

Didn’t see this coming, barely a week since paying out a record amount in damages to Dominion Voting Systems for defamation allegations and settling out of court, Fox News have parted company with Tucker Carlson, their main right wing attack dog ( honest description I believe ). Is their more to come out behind the scenes at Fox News or is Murdoch considering a change of policy in the way it reports political news ( like deciding maybe to tell the truth occasionally). No mention of who is to replace him but I am sure the Fox viewing fan base will be shocked by this one, he was their most watched presenter and their chief conspiracy theorist. America is like one huge gane show when it comes to their version of journalism, always chasing ratings, always chasing advertising revenue at the cost of informing it’s public with the facts. Bizarre.

Would like to see him set up on his own and continue to spread his bullshit, he’s a millionaire with his own home studio. Or maybe run for the Republican nomination against Trump, he lies for Trump on air but his texts inside Fox News reveals he can’t stand him. Democrats would love that and I would still like DeSantis to run against Trump, that would make the fur fly and set the world off laughing big time as they tear each other ( verbally) apart. Could be a lot of popcorn moments ahead for the political right in America.
