I cannot remember a more impressive professional debut from a player than Foster on Saturday. Yes, Hartlepool weren’t great but he still made some cracking saves – the shot from Bogle he pushed onto the post was possibly the best – and looked confident coming for crosses.
I know he’s very young and he’ll no doubt have some terrible games mixed in with other good ones but it was still fantastic to see a young player shine like that.

Told he’s now signed up to an agent too

May 2, 2022 at 12:05 pm #236687I’m glad posters are keeping some perspective and not touting him as a future England player after one game. Ridiculous.

Yeah that seemed a strange comment, likely to only put unnecessary pressure on him. But he did really look the part, unlike most young keepers we’ve seen over the years.
May 2, 2022 at 3:44 pm #236697I had a gangly 17 year old Ray Clemence in mind watching Foster. Not sure if it was his debut (but think it was) … a 7 -1 defeat at Grimsby. An awful night. Any other posters there? If Foster is only half as good as Ray then we have a real find.
May 2, 2022 at 4:36 pm #2367012nd game, if memory serves.

On that night (evening kick off if I remember right) there was only one senior player in the team, were the rest being punished for lack of effort? That was Brian Bedford, and he scored.
We did have a good youth team then, but not up to senior level.1 user thanked author for this post.
May 2, 2022 at 6:27 pm #236703Similar approach from Hill maybe Iron Age regarding playing kids because senior pros aren’t doing enough?. However it’s probably more like most of them won’t be here next season and I’m guessing Hill knew we would be going down anyway months ago.

I’m not sure the bookies would come up with the right odds for a bet like that!
May 2, 2022 at 8:21 pm #236709I travelled to that Cod ‘ed game in the back of a friend’s dad’s Reliant Robin.

Wonder if Martin Fry lent Swanny his gold suit to see out the season in such a disastrous fashion?

This season – Tears Are Not Enough!
May 4, 2022 at 12:26 pm #236737His son certainly doesn’t give supporters ‘The Look of Love’.
May 4, 2022 at 2:57 pm #236741I’m sure when Swann finally departs he will say he gave the club ” All Of My Heart “.
May 4, 2022 at 9:48 pm #236746I’m so gutted about relegation it’s like a Poison Arrow through my heart…
May 5, 2022 at 9:56 am #236748Martin Fry bought me a bottle of Holstein Pils in the green room bar at Tyne Tees TV Studios.
May 6, 2022 at 6:19 pm #236826Hasn’t Foster been training in the England Youth set up ?? If so then someone must like him.
May 7, 2022 at 8:46 am #236836On performance alone he should start at Bristol.
May 7, 2022 at 8:57 am #236837Disagree. In order to get into the automatic promotion places BR need Northampton to lose (they can’t do anything about that) and overturn a goal difference of 5. They’ll surely be doing what they can and I’d hate Foster’s confidence to be absolutely shot to pieces. Rory is used to conceding plenty so it won’t bother him.

May 7, 2022 at 10:06 am #236846Especially if it includes a Ryan Loft hat-trick!
May 7, 2022 at 10:14 am #236847Didn’t bother Clem letting 7 in Cass, but in this case I do agree. Foster or Collins (injured now) should have been starting weeks ago then let Rory have his last game today, Hill had nothing to lose and could only have gained, missed opportunity imo.

Why did he do that and why were you there NI? Were they performing on The Tube or summerts? Were you an ABC groupie back in the day? Think we deserve the truth, no matter how sordid.
May 7, 2022 at 5:32 pm #236884There was a kid’s pop programme called Razzmatazz. It was produced by Malcolm Gerrrie, who was a friend of a friend.
I was teaching at the time and Malcolm regularly got us to bring a party of our school kids down to be the audience.
I got to hang out with some of the band members in the green room. Including Bow Wow Wow, Haircut 100 & Limhal from Kadjagoogoo, who was really called Chris and was another nice guy.
Once Martin Fry knew I was from Scunthorpe we had a Steel Towns bonding.
Also met Paula Yates on that show. She was tiny!
