First decent side we’ve come across and rightly got a tonking for our efforts.
Not good enough in every department again and FGR showed how a side dominant in possession can effectively press a side and not just head sideways or backwards
And Just play 2 strikers at home for god sakes please.
October 10, 2020 at 6:53 pm #195646how to go from league 1 playoff contenders to National League Premier League in 3 seasons.
Also having Matt Gilks, Conor Townsend, Murray Wallace, Duane Holmes, Hakeeb Adelakon, Paddy Madden, Neil Bishop and Josh Morris at that time and look what we have now, I don’t think I have seen us have a close season before were I haven’t heard of any of the new players before.
October 10, 2020 at 6:57 pm #195647That performance was seriously poor and I’m really struggling to see where we will pick points up. We are so poor and lightweight all over the pitch. I can only hope there is one worse team in the league than us, hopefully that’s Grimsby!

October 10, 2020 at 7:22 pm #195651I’m struggling to see any improvement from the first game to now, each game just feels the same. We start out reasonably well for around 15/20 minutes then we disappear. At no point during todays game did I feel like we would we would go on and win the game.

The rot started with the departure of Paddy Madden. The other were destined for higher divisions. Our signings now resemble the plan of ‘Nearly Headless Nick’.
October 10, 2020 at 7:48 pm #195654FG are best team we’ve played this year by a mile but that is saying very little.
Only one with a chance of a top 10 finish. We are an absolute shambles and we’re going nowhere.
With everyone fit we have a squad of players easily good enough to get out of this league if they can be arsed apart from a reliable keeper.
All we need is some competent leadership.October 10, 2020 at 8:08 pm #195655We’re crying out for experience.
I’d stick Onariase in right now alongside Bedeau for the time being until McGahey is back. Clarke at RB and stick Olomola upfront with Loft or whoever else.
O’Malley Onariase Mcgahey Clarke…..suddenly an experienced back line becomes a lot more battle hardened. That’s obviously some time away yet.
Vincent and Spence for me are both worrying me…they’re too alike and we have zero creativity from the center of the pitch. I’d pick Spence over Vincent and play Taylor alongside him.
We really do need Clarke, Mcgahey and Olomola back though before long. Onariase needs to be in right now though. Cordner and Bedeau were both sub part but Cordner despite his size is a pussy cat, he got absolutely rag dolled all over the place.
No aggression, No battle qualities…Matt absolutely murdered him. Never have I seen a CB with such size play so passively.
I couldn’t quite believe what I was watching at times. I remember Crosby, Stephen Foster in their pomp and now you look at these two and you think what the feck are these two doing.
Cordner today was especially shocking….absolutely pathetic.
October 10, 2020 at 8:30 pm #195657Did anyone really expect any different today with the team we’re able to put out?
Watson – the worst GK we’ve had since Tommy Evans (maybe worse than him!).
Hornshaw – playing kids football until this season and being played out of position.
Cordner – only played non-league until this season.
Bedeau – has always been a calamity waiting to happen.
O’Malley – playing kids football until this season.
Gilliead – the best of a real bad bunch.
Spence – first season in English football.
Vincent – only played non-league until this season.
Eisa – hasn’t really done anything of note since his last goal for us against Newport last season (15 league games ago).
Taylor – already turned him into a poor footballer (we seem to have a knack of doing this).
Jarvis – was deemed not good enough for Sutton United in the National League.Cox – snapped up from being an assistant manager in non-league. Appointed because he’s from Scunny, no other reason.
October 10, 2020 at 8:32 pm #195658“stick Olomola upfront”
“We really do need Clarke, Mcgahey and Olomola back though before long.”Look, I’m trying to manage your expectations here. A fit Olomola will not save our season, I wish it were that simple.
October 10, 2020 at 8:36 pm #195659Early days I know but strange as it seems three of the five sides we’ve played are in the top seven, make of that what you will!
October 10, 2020 at 8:37 pm #195661“stick Olomola upfront”

I never stated it would be that simple, neither did I say Olomola would save our season. I don’t know where you’ve read that.
We need experience badly. Clarke, McGahey and Olomola would provide that. I would gladly throw Van Veen in the mix but he’s a fair bit away.
Those 3 with Onariase would help massively.
October 11, 2020 at 12:26 am #195664Said it before we kicked a ball in anger.
We need at least one experienced leader out there.
Swann has recruited a lucky-bag of youngsters that his likewise inexperienced manager is still picking through.
Call it a gamble, call it naivety, call it stupidity. It ain’t working.
A week left to find a leader, and even that won’t fully solve the problem!
October 11, 2020 at 12:55 am #195665The team was once again outplayed, but they started well, but it only lasted for 15 minutes, after that they just lacked any skills, ran about like headless chicken, and worse of all this week they did ot put in much work and effort. I will give my rating marks, but fter last weeks only having 5 comments, its not worth doing a rating thread section.
WATSON–4–Again rooted to his goal line, a very poor game and must be a nightmare for our defenders.
HORNSHAW–4–Poor game, passing was bad and did not help Gilliead when we went forward.
CORDNER–6–Put in a lot of work, but he has little chance in this poor Scunny side.
BEDEAU–6–Only one that showed any signs of effort, but where is the guy we signed from D&R
O’MALLEY–4–Their winger had far too much space, and the young lad is not league standard.
GILLIEAD–6–Had a few good runs, but never anyone found any space to receive the ball.
VINCENT–5–He still does not impress me, rans about a lot, but no end produt.
SPENCE–6–Did ok in a very poor team.
EISA–5–Nedds game time, ran ok but his final pass was terrible.
TAYLOR–4–Playd well last week, but was not in the game today.
JARVIS–5–Took his goal well, but did very little after that.McATTE–7–Showed some signs, and got involved, but far too deep.
LOFT–3–Waste of space and wasnot involved at all.Manager–3–Shows no sign of getting the team shaped into anything but a very poor defensive outfit, if Clarke, McAtee and the guy from Dagenham are fit, they should be in the starting eleven, if not fit why are they on the bench, poor selection and tactics (if we had any).
REF–5–Was to pickey, and not as good as recent refs, but we have had worse.
OUTLOOK–bleak, and the signs are that this rubbish will continue, fans said give it 10 to assess the teams performance, well we have had 8 of them and have had just that lucky win against Carlisle when we were outplayed, so what next, it could be non-league heading our way!!!!!
October 11, 2020 at 7:40 am #195669Take all of our CMs in the squad and playing any two together does not work – agreed, as plenty have said before – they are too alike.
Taken as individuals, I think most are pretty decent but …
You really can’t do without one solid experienced leader to build around. IMHO – most of those lads would be getting plaudits played alongside a Bish type.Cordner must either ‘man up’ or quit the game. Two games back to back he has been a real weak link. I am not a Bedeau fan as he makes too many errors and misjudgements but I am starting to agree, Onariase and Bedeau, until McGahey eventually gets back.
GK in before the deadline?
Weren’t we told big Kev would be back in late October?
October 11, 2020 at 8:18 am #195670Watson 5 still too weak, lots of long balls straight to the keeper
Hornshaw 4 not good enough for league football
Bedeau 5 too many basic errors
Cordner 4 very poor positioning and very weak
O’Malley 5 not his best game but should learn by watching how FGR played. I think he will learn more looking at how others play rather than learning from our manager (ironically)
Eisa 6 some good spots but needs more game time and confidence
Spence 6 basic simple passing – choice between attacking pass or pass back he picks the latter
Vincent 4 getting worse by the game and too much like Spence. Both quite negative players stifles any movement or creativity
Gillead 6.5 tried several runs but when support required nobody near
Taylor 5 started brightly but learned that nobody was making runs finding space or trying to dominate so started to become a busy fool dropping deep and appearing everywhere to the detriment of his attacking instinct. The player Vale had is a lot different because of the players he is playing with
Jarvis 5 isolated, good goal, keeper should’ve stopped nothing elseLoft 3 Awful awful positional sense has no idea where to put himself, passing needs work
McAtee 5 ok needs game time and sort his attitude
Beestin some decent touches not on long
Cox 3 mixed feelings; he’s been dealt a really shit hand with the players he’s got and those injured but I see no tactical nous or any ability to affect the game.
Swann needs to get a keeper RB and CM in on loan or other asap otherwise our only hope will be not finishing the season. Whatever he thinks will work, won’t. We need experience
October 11, 2020 at 9:21 am #195672I more or less agree with Ironawe, though find it difficult to give anyone a 6, never mind improvement I think we are going backwards, the promised attacking football has never materialised and for a home team we again like with Russ in charge must be the most boring team to watch, this type of football will never bring fans back to the Sans Siro and when supporters do come back I can’t see us getting above 2000, some of the players are out of their depth at this level and I don’t think we would win the National League North, the only bright side to yesterday I had no streaming problems, I didn’t have to use £5 worth of petrol and pay £3 at the Old Farmhouse to park, and I had my tea on time.
October 11, 2020 at 9:45 am #195675Plenty of places to park without paying Mick. From what I have seen Nathan Popple, Winterton Rangers keeper, is currently as good as Rory, very commanding on anything coming high into the area and a good shot stopper. I am still looking forward, however, to getting back in the stadium. Miss the banter etc. UTWI
October 11, 2020 at 9:58 am #195676that is the bright side barrie, the banter, but started to go to the Farmhouse because of my knee instead of Gunness Straite, I have never been to Scunthorpe since we played the Cods, I used to like going down to Home Bargains and Iceland but now go to Retford.
October 11, 2020 at 10:03 am #195677Our centre backs were bullied by a journeyman centre forward, and 2 that supported him Adams and Collins, only young lads, scared the living daylights out of our defence, centre backs running at our defence likes wingers with no one prepared to put a tackle in,2 full backs needed a defender that can defend, and a Midfielder that can organise,or else we are cannon fodder,oh yes an experienced keeper Rory will never cut it at league 2 level,
October 11, 2020 at 10:10 am #195679People park in M&S and Tesco Mick.

Absolutely agree, never a truer word spoken.
In ten years time NON of the current muppets will be remembered, unlike most of the names listed above.
We have no leaders or any character, it’s unbelievable how steep our downward tragectory has been. The club is in absolute free fall, despite all King Prawns money been pumped into the club its his big aspirations that has contributed to the downfall, I doubt we would have declined as much under the previous chairman. Proof that money isn’t the total answer to achieving success.October 11, 2020 at 10:43 am #195683Shorts don’t matter, it’s whats inside them that counts !!
October 11, 2020 at 10:53 am #195685I thought M&S and Tesco had restrictions of say 2 hours on match days, especially on a Saturday.
October 11, 2020 at 11:04 am #195687got to agree with sanfran about a lot of the problems at the club started with Paddy going, Alexander seemed to unsettle Paddy and Kev and got rid, had the bust up with Conor and swapping the team about and it has been a complete shambles since, a big mistake was letting McCall leave because though he wasn’t doing great I don’t think we would have got relegated and possibly we would have had a better squad last season in league 1, the timing of Hurst going was also bad because we were starting to play some good football but errors at the back let us down, but God knows what will happen this season because there isn’t any anything to indicate we will win many games, if any for a long while.
October 11, 2020 at 11:40 am #195689All the posts about Olemola,I ‘ve seen him twice and he was poor on each occasion,he could not get a game at Carlisle last season on loan.
October 11, 2020 at 11:54 am #195691Scored more for them (5) than Ryan Loft (4)!
October 11, 2020 at 12:29 pm #195696Watson – 5
Hornshaw – 5. Somehow the system made it impossible to defend down our right. They always seemed to have one more man available than we did. Permanently exposed. Can’t blame a young lad played totally out of position. Wholly unfair.
Cordner – 4.
Bedeau – 5.
O’Malley – 6.
Spence – 6.
Vincent – 5.
Gilliead – 6.
Eisa – 6.
Taylor – 5.
Jarvis – 7 early on. 4 later. 5.5 overall.
McAtee – 6.…
Loft – can’t be blamed for being ineffective with no support. 5.
Beestin – 6.Conclusion – 6 players out of 14 hit the dizzy heights of ‘average’.
October 11, 2020 at 12:57 pm #195698don’t you think Les that clubs are targeting our right back area because they know it is a weak area in our defence, but to be fair to George he isn’t a right back.

That’s exactly what is happening.
They put 2 men on him and overload him as they know he is the weak link.
Not his fault he’s a kid being played out of position but it needs sorting.I’ll put as much effort into to my scores as they did on the pitch this week.
Gillead – 5
