I think this game is a free hit for Neil and his team . I do expect to see a greatly improved performance but after this game and for the rest of the season we have to I repeat have to start winning football matches. I’m not saying we should not be attempting to win today because we should I’m just saying after last week a vast improvement needs to be on view.

Home game, league leaders, trained well, 5 at the back, we know what they’ll do, (we won’t be able to stop them though) keep it tight, hope for a lucky penalty. Well it worked once. We live in hope – it’s all we’ve got!

I am sorry to say, but we have the same squad as last week, playing under the same management and their system, so what has changed in order for any difference, we will not and do not play bad enough to ship 6 goals so soon as last weeks match, possibly 0-2 or maybe only 0-1.

I hope Cox starts with young Wilson but it will probably be the same failures being selected, either way a win would be nice, but with this squad and Cox, Lillis and Mussa in charge, this is very unlikely. Where is UTI99, not heard from the little rascal since the 1-6 of last Saturday bless him.

I see people are climbing over the gates at Glanford Park.
But the stewards go out and make them come back in.

The Martians landed on the pitch in the middle of a Scunny match. They all died…there was no atmosphere.

Better performance – first one I’ve clapped in a while. Coincides with Pugh in the team and Millen out of it, I think.

Didn’t look like a penalty to me, interested to see the replay.

Their keeper made some good saves.

Forest Green players reffed the game, least someone did as the man who was supposed to, was useless. If you noticed, they would cause a ruckus every time a decision went against them or when a Scunny player put in a tough tackle.

Bizarre team selection again. Cox quote:-
“”We also had a lot of illness. Myles (Hippolyte) managed to get off his sick bed, while Beest (Alfie Beestin) has also been struggling and that’s why he didn’t start. Ross (Millen) wasn’t well enough to play, while there were a couple of others this morning who have got through the game.”

So Hippolyte, Beestin and a couple of others were in the squad although not fully fit. Bit of a kick in the teeth for Perry, Wilson & Hallam isn’t it?
If Wood is fully fit and still behind some of these then he’s a waste of a loan.

I don’t think that locking the gates was much good, simply because those wanting to spoil their Saturday afternoon just went through the retail road.

Alkazar—-when you say Martians landed on the pitch during the second half, why the hell didn’t management slip some claret and blue shirts on them, better still resign and put them in charge of things.

Wind back about a month and the team played as it had done previously – a bit of heart and no real thoughts that the match could be won.

Three appalling match-changing decisions/non-decisions by the ref had me reminiscing about the first third of last season when reffing had hit a new low.

There was much to like. I watched the game with a now ex-supporter who knew nothing about the team. A man steeped in league football from within the game, he criticised no Iron player – coming the nearest to doing so with O’Malley. He applauded Rory, Hippo and Loft and showed astonishment that Pugh is not an auto pick.

Effectively a neutral now, he was not displeased with the efforts of either players or Cox.

I needed someone I trust to look at us afresh for me.

The conclusions were that we are a CB short; we need leadership in CM and we need a player in the style of Paul Hayes or similar.

If I read him right – we are three players away from being a decent team – and just two if we can muddle by with 3 CBs.

My thoughts were that we created some good chances and were thwarted by a super goalkeeping display.

    Barrow awaits.

Well we got the much needed improved performance which is a start but now we must kick on and start winning football matches,at the least 15 would probably do. The person to blame for yesterday’s loss was in my opinion the worst ref we have ever had he was diabolical. If we play in a similar vein to yesterday we may be able to turn it round if not and we go backwards than Mr Swann you have to change the management team. Next two games are crucial for Neil and his team no wins no jobs simple.

What a contrast beween the personalities, character traits and intellectual level of the chairmen of Forest Green Rovers and Scunthorpe United. Surely these differences are obvious when considering their leadership qualities and the differing fortunes of the two clubs in recent years.

Sadly the ref took away the possibilities of a point or 3. They didn’t appear to offer a threat upto that point. The pen clearly wasn’t one, the reaction of their players gives it away. They were annoyed he’d missed not appealing for a pen. Back to the conf for the ref.
We need 6 points from the next 2 games. Even Swan cant let Cox survive anything less.

Much improved yesterday and the result although predictable was not a real reflection of how the Iron played, yes to all the comments about the ref and their keeper certainly did very well but we switched off a little between goals then came back again late on. We have just lost the last two games to the best two teams in league 2 but on reflection yesterdays performance shows against lesser teams we will have a better chance if we take yesterdays mindset and performance forward. Hard luck guys you deserved a bit better then yesterdays officials and the result certainly did not match your endeavour.

we need a player in the style of Paul Hayes or similar.

I do firmly think that Hallam could be that clever link player we need but he’s never fit long enough to get a run in the side. Scrimshaw did ok on Sat but I’d rather Hallam was up there with Loft for his link up play.

I quite liked Hallam and Loft upfront against Rotherham. If, and this is a big if, Hallam can stay fit and he’s actually played I think he’ll add a fair bit.

I find it odd that that other players who crept off the sick bed started and yet others in the same boat never got a sniff.

Talking about a possible squad rejigging come January. Hackney will be going back in Jan and if we can send Wood back to Hull City and sign an experienced central midfielder and a left winger possibly on loan it will be of great help.

In my wildest dreams if we can keep Turan out on loan and loan out Jarvis and O’Neil get two strikers in, 1 big n nasty and 1 pacey one and bring young Jessop back as the back up 5th striker…we may just stay up.

You can tell on Saturday against Forest Green that we do have a fairly decent 11, no world beaters but they’re better than what they’ve shown.

I believe we are where we are due to Cox being a crap manager and playing the wrong players. I read stats on twitter stating that out of the u21 players in league two Tom Pugh sat 2nd in the table for completed tackles.

Wilson despite showing real ability in pre season I think has disappeared. I bet you that with an experienced manager who knows who to properly structure and organize a side, somebody like a Keith Hill kind of character we’d be showing much more than we are doing.

I find it puzzling how we keeps saying he’s a fighter and he’s not waving the white flag but he’s clearly not good enough and we’re continuing to suffer as a result.

Not being true too yourself and admitting you’re not good enough, clearly delaying the inevitable isn’t big and it isn’t clever.

If Cox sticks around for 2 more matches until he’s fired and we miss out come the end of the season by 3 points, he could be one of the bloody big reasons we go down.

2 weeks could easily make all the difference. In 2 weeks we could get a manager somewhat bedded down and have him closely look at what he’s got to work with while Cox keeps pissing about.

    I’m really disappointed in him.

I can imagine his wage demands have increased significantly since the stints at Bolton & Tranmere, but if I Swann I’d be using whatever loopholes necessary in getting him in.

Even the old war horse Ronnie Moore who’s vastly experienced would be ideal…we desperately need somebody with a bit of know how to help us get us out of the crap we’re currently in.

Ronnie Moore has been out of the game for years hasn’t he? Not a good idea. Whoever we get (if we get anybody) will have to be desperate for a job IMO.

Interesting to read several people on here saying they didn’t think the penalty was the correct decision. It’s hard to tell on the TV coverage but it didn’t look an outrageous call from that angle. I loved Watson slamming the ball into the ground in frustration though!
