For those who don’t get the Fair Game newsletter, this week’s has an interesting section on clubs’ heritage including changing colours and crests and an interesting last para which holds some relevance…..
Football Heritage
The FA took a good first step this week to protect the Heritage of Football Clubs by introducing new rules around how clubs can implement any changes to kit colours or their badge.
Any club wishing to make a change now will need to have the majority of fans behind it. A club found to be in breach of these rules will be ordered by the FA to reverse the change.
We welcome this change at Fair Game but more needs to be done to protect a club’s location or we could see more instances like Basingstoke Town situation where their old ground The Camrose is being turned into flats.
