when with 14 games to go and in 13th position 10 points would have seen us safe and we managed 6, with all the remaining games all very losable can anyone see us be overtaken by the bottom 3.

because of the last couple of performances and fight we are relying on other teams losing rather than us winning.

I think our league position is more perilous than a lot seem to believe.
And I worry that next season could be infinitely worse with the club run as it is.

Meanwhile our neighbours haven’t lost a game for a while, but seemingly their inability to take all three points has them doomed.

While I do like bragging rights, I don’t like to see local clubs go out of the league.

it is worrying, and I can see us nearer the bottom than we are now unless we start going for victories rather than defending deep and looking for breakaways the Wilcox way.

As i stated on another thread alcy, local derbies bring in extra revenue all small clubs need, would rather play the Cods twice a season then Torquay for obvious reasons. We all like to beat our nearest rivals and rub it in a bit but if clubs like ours are to survive we need our nearest local sides competing in the same division as us on a regular basis. Despite us and Grimsby having spells in the Championship over recent seasons we still have a long history of competing against each over a decent length of time in our histories to suggest what we both enjoy and both need to remain viable.

Torquay 15 lge wins Scunthorpe 31, Grimsby 22 lge wins Scunthorpe 12. Ive only seen Scunny win 3 lge games since 1970, no Fa cup or lge cup win in the 7 attempts I’ve seen. Points make prizes not the buzz of playing the cods, Scunny Grimsby is for the hooligans Quite a few fans even give the Scunny cod game a miss due to the hooliganism. So its not a really big loss to us, plus iam sure many will be happy Swanny won’t get as much revenue comparing games.

I’d laugh briefly if Grimsby went out the league again but be disappointed that we’d lost a local derby and our biggest rivals, and the revenue.

Won’t happen. Mainly because there are only 2 relegation places not four, so in League One we only had to fall to 21st position, here we have to fall to 23rd. Plus that League One season was a statistical freak.

I feel that we have enough points already Mick, I cannot see either Southend of Grimsby catching us, simply because they are collecting just the one point max from their games, and the way Colchester are playing, there is a chance that one of the bottom two will catch them, but with just two teams being relegated, there is very, very little chance of two of them catching us.
I appreciate your comments on how pathetic Scunny are Mick, but even that shower will be able to get a couple of drawn out of the remaining 8 matches, a win is probably beyond them, simply because the team need to score a goal to win a match, and that seems very unlikely.

Cox wants that bloody playing system and one up front stuffing right up his arse, and get himself back to Notts County in the National League where he belongs, a new manager might just bring a bit of attacking football back for our long suffering supporters.

This was my point DM but Awaywego got all statistical about it regarding results and points in a comparison with Torquay, as usual missing the big point once again. 🙄

You mean like the last 2/3 Swann appointed to do just that?

What makes you think a new manager (feel free to offer a name or three) will do any better under the present ownership?

No Ironawe I got the big point, just we do get far more points from Torquay than Grimsby which is really what all teams are out to achieve. Personally I would love to play Grimsby every week just for the atmosphere, and years ago the aggro, now there’s one thing we were better than them at, But footballing wise I would be more than happy to see Torquay swap places with Grimsby next season.

I find it highly suspicious that we keep signing managers, some who even start positive all end up like Wilcox clones.

Robins at Coventry has them playing some really nice football and has done for a while.

I hope nobody at the club is having a hand in team affairs. We already know player recruitment has been well and truly butchered by people who have no idea what they’re doing.

I just hope the meddling stops there !
