Makes depressing reading
For some reason I was a little excited this morning but reading them
Fixtures reminds me how far we’ve fallen.Anyway, there’s a couple that I’ll probably take on regardless of my hatred for Swann and my concerns about the squad………
Happy to kick off with a home tie against another former league club in Yeovil.
Back to back games against chesterfield over the Christmas period has to be seen as good.
York city away falls the day after my birthday and a ground I really fancy a visit to.
July 6, 2022 at 9:57 am #240047No great amounts of travelling in the first few away games, then.
July 6, 2022 at 10:19 am #240048Anyone else find it strange that a number of the closer, northern away games are on Tuesday nights? Altrincham, Oldham, even Wrexham.

July 6, 2022 at 12:12 pm #240058I can see what’s going to happen, defeat to Dorking Wanderers on the last day of the season leading to relegation to the NLN

July 6, 2022 at 12:24 pm #240061Quite optimistic thinking it will go to the last game of the season.

July 6, 2022 at 1:35 pm #240063Crucified at the Heed on Good Friday!

July 6, 2022 at 4:40 pm #240074You forgot Halifax ferrite, there’s a big disparity on traveling before Xmas 1726 miles in fact for the first twelve away, or 71miles on average more per game, but heho means the run in is better, must have concerns with our traveling fans with all the Tuesday games even Oldham new year’s day and Gateshead good Friday, that leaves York and notts county the only localish Saturday games.
July 6, 2022 at 4:56 pm #240075Good point and both York & Notts County are not until March.
Even Chesterfield’s on New Year’s Day.
At least in Conference North the away games will be a bit closer!

However, we’ve scored two goals in both pre-season games, let’s hope that ‘trend’ continues!

July 6, 2022 at 7:15 pm #240083Garbage fixture list.
Thought they usually kept the closest games on a Saturday to allow clubs to maximise revenue. The difference between Halifax on a Tuesday rather a Saturday could be potentially 1,000 fans.
Most northern games on a Tuesday night is ridiculous and takes away what little joy we might have this year.

July 6, 2022 at 8:32 pm #240087The people who run the national league are a joke!
Planning of the Tuesday night fixtures could have been much better.
And……
How is it still one promoted and one through the play offs???
Ridiculous, should have been changed years ago!!!Also, they continued to only allow 5 subs not taking into consideration how professional this league has become .
Time for change surely?
Not that we would benefit from 2 automatic promotions and one through the play offs OR 7 subs… but common sense says the time for these changes are long over due!
July 6, 2022 at 8:37 pm #240088You will get used to it with the NL games move all over time and date wise it’s a pain in the arse if you need to book trains etc, they even left it to a few weeks before to confirm where the play off final would be if Tinpot is apt for anything it’s the administrators of the NL

Only matters if you are in that league. League 2 teams will never vote for 3 up 3 down
July 6, 2022 at 9:28 pm #240090How do you know that Staines??
There’s realistically 6/7/8 clubs now in the national league bigger (on paper) with bigger fan bases etc… than a lot of clubs in league 2 so what would the football league lose??
July 6, 2022 at 11:16 pm #240093I’ve said it before, but it would make more sense to merge L2 & NL into L2(N) & L2(S).

July 7, 2022 at 12:20 am #2400943 up 3 down would have seen us relegated with the cods. It will never happen, turkey’s don’t vote for Christmas
July 7, 2022 at 12:35 am #240095A few words to describe my thoughts on the fixture list .. DEPRESSED DEFLATED SAD UNINSPIRED.. the fact this league or lower could well / will be our home for many many years compounds my grief.
Mean while back the club war room Hill n Co are still waiting for those “value” signings to appear as are the fans.

You say that but it went from 0 to 1 and then from 1 to 2 over the years, so you never know.

The thing is attendances now to an extent don’t really matter now do they, people just think clubs are big on their history :reality is clubs like Salford, Forest Green, Crawley, Harrogate and Solihull are bigger because they can throw loads of money at it last season we lost out on a player from Solihull because they offered more.
Whether this trend will continue and bankrolled clubs punch higher than they really should be will determine if more old school so called big clubs go out the league or some sort of semblance of normality returns I imagine.
For us, you, Oldham, Notts County and Southend there is no doubt all were/are basket cases that fell out the league because of the mess they were/are in.

I’d make it EFL L3 – with 4 up & 4 down between L2 & the new L3.
July 8, 2022 at 8:35 pm #240232A N&S split would maximise income by offering more local games with potentially higher attendances whilst cutting travelling costs.

July 8, 2022 at 8:57 pm #240235All Tuesday night games NI?.

🤣 you’re right there Rich. Speaking to an Oldham fan today and he was optimistic regarding their recent ownership and signing matters.
July 8, 2022 at 11:34 pm #240243All Tuesday night games NI?.
Makes no difference.
July 9, 2022 at 12:54 pm #240256It does to fans who want to make a day out of it NI, I could get to Eastleigh on the train and back on a Saturday 224 miles away and yet on a midweek game you can only get back from Sheffield or Donny not even Grimsby and were not playing any of them.

July 9, 2022 at 2:18 pm #240261It’s not about you filling another club’s coffers. It’s about our own cash flow.
That’s if we were to play Eastleigh on a Tuesday. It’s in the lap of the fixture gods.
And how many of their fans would make a weekend of a visit to Sunny Scunny?
Rochdale, Northampton, Harrogate, Chesterfield and York fans on the other hand are much more likely to attend whatever day of the week.
July 9, 2022 at 3:14 pm #240265Not interested in our clubs cash flow never have been, I expect the owner to cover the losses whether they have to borrow or not, was happy enough with Swanny till he said he won’t borrow anymore, I am quite prepared to sponge off the back of scun utd shall we say just to get the enjoyment for me my family and friends. I have offered to help buy the ground but as to financing the club that’s not my agenda.
July 15, 2022 at 7:25 pm #240711This.
Turkey’s don’t vote for Christmas
Any team in league 2 would gladly go back to the Re-election process like the olden days
