“Scunthorpe United is delighted to announce the acquisition of relentless forward Carlton Ubaezuonu on a free transfer following his departure from promotion challengers Chorley.”

Plus a crowd pleasing quote from Andy:-
“I see him as a striker. Without giving too much away, I see him as a centre forward. I want him to form a partnership up top. We’re going to create a lot of chances this season, like we did last season, but with two centre forwards on the pitch, I think we’ll score more.”

Seems we will be getting the 442 many were crying out for last season.

Just listened to Mr Butler 20 min interview. Could have been done in 7 minutes.

Going to do something like this then make it interesting.

Been that long since we’ve set out to play positively with two up front. Seeing it in action will be a shock to the system !

I’d prefer 3-5-2 myself, at least for home games, but that could well be what Butler has in mind.

With the players we’ve currently got in central midfield I can’t see 4-4-2 working. Teams will run through us if it’s just the two of either Clunan/Shrimpton/Beestin!

The club and Butler really can’t do right for doing wrong can they ?
Someone saying he doesn’t speak clearly, now you’re saying they’ve dragged his interview out too long.
He’s just answered questions about the signings, Butterfields 3 contract offers, retained list, his hopes for next season. What would be more interesting to include ? There’s only so much he can reveal and clearly he isn’t going to panic sign players on stupid contracts which I think is good.

Didn’t see an issue with the content or length of interview myself. More of the same please.

We may play 4/4/2 at home and 5/3/2 away with wing backs providing the width. Butler definitely wants two up there whatever formation he setts up with.

I have never seen the Iron play well with 3 centre backs but I have only been watching for 50 years.

Given that at least 80% of the time last season we faced 1 up front why on earth would we want to play 3 centre backs?

Aye he’ll have forget about them plus he probably also forgot to say that in 50 years of watching he only attended 50% of the time. Lol

Away from home 4 at the back with one midfielder shielding the back 4. A 4/1/3/2 formation. Boston played a similar system last season. We don’t have to play with 3 CB’s.

Logan was a Midfielder when he came from Plymouth, although he played all over. He’s here he’s there hes ******* Richard Logan…

Remember Walsh and McAuley wing backs and Sertori-Wilcox-Hope as 3 Centre backs? how long did that last?

He can speak for as long as he likes, for me – as long as he speaks clearly.

Not a fan of 3-5-2, puts an awful lot of focus on usually one player in midfield to provide all of the creative spark. Robins tried it with Luke Williams or Gary McSheffrey in there with very limited results.

The kind of system you might build around someone like Butterfield, perhaps!?

Luke Willams, what a player he could have been without his fitness issues. Really felt for the lad.
