An apt result today which perfectly sums up what a laughing stock we’ve become under the recent manager, players and Swann.

I expected us to go down in August, but couldn’t quite foresee the horror show that has transpired. Averaging 1 win in 15 and an almost record low points total for the division doesn’t tell the story of how bad it’s been trying to watch some of the performances. Today will be up there for those whom went, but personally Harrogate Away was a real low point.

Cox was clearly out of his depth, and in hindsight shouldn’t have seen the summer through. The usual trigger happy Swann finally gave a manager time, unfortunately it happened to be the wrong one and we was down in November.

Hill hasn’t been any better- and on paper even worse- I expected better things to be honest; staying in the league would’ve been a step too far but I hoped for a fight. We have gone down without a whimper and a lot of that is down to him. January was a complete disaster and we somehow managed to make the squad worse, if this is the recruitment team for the summer then we are doomed before we’ve began.

Moving onto next year: If Hill persists to play youngsters then we are dead and buried before a ball is kicked. A couple of them have done ok and deserve a chance next year- Moore-Billiam, Wilson, and maybe foster on the bench. In reality most of them have barely made an impression in the games they have played. You can’t build a side around them, no matter how proud of them you are Keith.

Budget wise, we are in massive trouble. Rumours are doing the rounds of only a couple of hundred season tickets sold; I don’t expect much more than 500 if the current regime are still in charge. Gates of 1000-1500 beckon.

An owner who isn’t interested, an operating team whom I believe will try their best but are destined for failure, a manager not in touch with reality and a dwindling fan base doesn’t bode well. If you offered me 20th place next year I’d snap your hand off.

We are in a dangerous place right now as a club and the buck stops with Swann. If a sale proceeds with assets in tow then we have a chance. Right now, it’s looking precarious.

The problem is if Swann is asking an exorbitant and ridiculous fee for the club, ground and assets, so that he can re-coup the money which he has spent, we are in big, big trouble as new owners will not buy into it. At the forum the panel said Swann has already turned down two offers, and I do not believe that Swann will reveal his asking price to the supporters. In my opinion the forum was a total waste of time attending as non of the panel could give definite answers. Surely there must be some legislation in there whereby Swann could be forced to ask a reasonable figure for the club, ground and assets and not a ridiculous figure which could force our Club into liquidation or administration. Leanne Mayo stated that the Club has to be self-sustainable at whatever level. Where have we heard that one before, Swann. Its obvious who is pulling her strings.

None of us have any idea of the price Swann is asking. It would be stupid of him to make it public.

Let’s see what happens in the fullness of time. Hopefully, sooner rather than later!!

Well guys, that has now ended the season, and it was as I have stated on here many times, Swann has driven our once loved club into the National League by his methods, for three seasons he has wanted our club to fail just like it has done, it is about the only thing he has ever got right in all his workings and pointless statements over the years. He bandished Championship League, he preached 2 new stadiums, he preached GP refurbishment,160 flats to be built on club land, but we all know what he has achieved by foolishly spending all club money and running up a debt of about 13 million pounds, he took the new stadium consultants to court, he fell out with NLCC, he incurred a football league embargo for over spending, his answer then was to sign over all the clubs land to his own company, not forgetting the move he made by keeping Cox as manager for a year too long, just to make sure that the club failed, he drove nearly 2,000 loyal supporters away from attending. All this will result in the club likely to go bust, sorry to say I predicted this for the past year, Swann has done this in order to get the money back that the club lost in persuing the Swann schedule, he will possibly as being said put a price on the club that will scare any buyer away.

I have had 72 years following SUFC, but I really feel for the club suporters like the one’s that made the long costly trip to Bristol today, and loyal fans like the couple that live in Derby that until this year and the Covid year, never missed a home or away match for 13 years, bearing that in mind, even a home match was a 170 mile trip, Christ all this has been taken away from people like those by an owner and club Chairman that cannot be bothered to attent any games, I wonder if he is too ashamed to show his face at GP, we all know that he is too brass necked to even give it a thought that he has caused our club into forced failure, but is was Covid not Swann wasn’t it !!!

Anyway, I have 70 years of memories to look back on, and my present hate of Swann, he must be hated by many, many Scunthorpe people (not including UTI99), I just hope that the club does get a new owner, just for the sake of present and lost fans, but under Swann the club will fold.

GOOD LUCK SUFC and it’s supporters, after the past four years you certainly deserve some!!

Just a pity we couldn’t scrape two goals to end our 7(-)2 year stay in the Football League…

    May 2011 Garforth Town FC.

I was there with my mate who is a Chester fan. They were odds on the win the Evo-Stik Div1(N) title. To miss out they would have to lose by the odd goal at Garforth and nearest rivals Skelmersdale would have to beat Ossett Albion by seven goals.

The other three of us in the car said it would never happen but our worried Chester chum had a bad feeling it would.

Halftime and Chester 1-0 up and heading for the title despite Skem leading 5-1.
Second half Garforth got two quick goals and it finished 2-1 to the home side. There was still six minutes to go at Skelmersdale and Chinese Whispers went around. Skem we’re 7-1 up, then 8-1, then 9-1. In actual fact it finished 7-2 and Chester won the league.

The guy who scored Ossett’s second was invited to be guest of honour at Chester’s end of season presentation dinner!

And no! Socrates was not playing for Garforth that day!

I wonder when we will get chance to end the longest run without a league win, who will be still alive, my guess is a lot of us won’t be.

The Club is of no value (or very little) – the land as we all know is the asset.
