Nottingham Forest youngster Billy Fewster has surprisingly been spotted in training with the first team. The 19-year-old has been on loan with Scunthorpe United but hadn’t been seen for several weeks at Glanford Park.
Fewster is tipped for big things at the City Ground. He’s rated highly by the staff behind the scenes and he was fancied to go well in the National League with Scunthorpe.
The midfielder made just two appearances for the Iron but now he’s back on Trentside. Yesterday he was spotted alongside several other youngsters training with the senior squad.
Forest are quickly approaching a crossroads with Fewster. He will be out of contract in the summer and the club must now decide what to do with him.
It’s all been a bit cloak and dagger with Fewster at Scunthorpe. They’re a bit of a basket case right now and they’re staring down the barrel of relegation to National League North.
It’s somewhat strange there has been no announcement regarding this. Fewster has been out of the Scunthorpe team for weeks and now he’s back with Forest.
He was spotted being put through his paces as the Reds prepare to face Newcastle. One photo shows him shaking hands with Jonjo Shelvey who was signed in January.
Scunthorpe are a full-time football club. As a result, it’s not as if Fewster was training with Forest on one of his off days with the Iron and the loan must have ended.1 user thanked author for this post.
March 15, 2023 at 12:45 pm #257398Maybe he didn’t like being called ‘mate’ all the time?

March 15, 2023 at 7:17 pm #257427Looked good on debut, went missing for 5/6 games, then out of nowhere played a game out the blue while clearly not been match fit and has now gone back to Forest.
Sandwiched between that were rumours that he’d gone back before.
What the hell is going on at this club ?
Following this bullshit we then had Big Gez who’s been moved on despite us having just the 1 viable match fit target man and he went to Eastleigh and started for them in their first game.
I can’t help but thinking that despite the new chairman’s arrival, we’re still as amateurish as ever.
March 15, 2023 at 9:16 pm #257435TBF, none of the above is news, it’s all just speculation. I don’t think it’s that uncommon for loan players to check back in with their parent clubs from time-to-time. Odd to be doing it on one of our matchdays though.

After being used to passing the ball and finding his man in the Forest Academy, he gets told “Naaaaaah san, you gotta hoof it up to Richie innit”.
March 22, 2023 at 10:07 am #257745Fantastic piece of reporting!!
“Nottingham Forest starlet Billy Fewster has been sent back to Nottingham Forest and Scunthorpe boss Jimmy Dean has been explaining why.”
And then:-
“I won’t give my reasons on air because it’s not fair on him but it’s just one that didn’t work out.”Not much of an “explanation” then is it?

Conspiracy theory time, I’ll go first.
1- Spat his dummy out after not being automatic pick.
2- Refused to bend over and supply his own lube.
3- Thought Scunny was the hottest night spot town in Lincolnshire, then the reality kicked in.March 22, 2023 at 3:42 pm #257756He had heard we were heading to the premier league must have got muddled up
March 22, 2023 at 9:26 pm #257773Well this is what Dean said later on when asked about Fewster
Manager explains why he’s sent Billy Fewster back to Nottingham Forest
Reading between the lines, Dean was of the opinion that he didn’t work hard enough.
