It’s been awful these last few weeks, the nastiness ramped up and this site was under enormous external pressure, it’s now in the spotlight again but for better reasons. I’m now of the opinion that the Trust, who’ve also had dogs abuse ,will get the backing they need and that somehow they’ll ensure that in future we’re watching a team at GP.Back your trust
I want a normal club, calling the chairman tight and moaning about long ball crap, not much to ask

The trust have got shite because they haven’t been seen enough over the last couple of years when some leadership was needed, funds should have been built up already, I want them to step up we all want them to step up, they will get the backing, my £1000 is still sat in the bank waiting to help buy the ground, it’s down to the trust now.

It’s down to all of us Awaywego, ONE-FOR-ALL, ALL-FOR-ONE. We are already members of our Iron Trust who I am sure they are doing as much as they possibly can, many of them life-long supporters. It has been good to see our Chairman Tony Gosling in the spotlight on TV and being interviewed by the media in Scunthorpe Town centre.
If we all stick and work together as one I am sure we will succeed to save our Club.

How do you think the Trust build up funds apart from subscriptions?

By funds I didn’t mean the ten pound joining fee that’s not worth a **** in the scheme of things. Dah “funds should have been built up already” ya know haven’t we been in the shite with the ground issue for years now we all knew it would become a sticking point at some time and the trust have done nothing. There as got to be some point in having a trust now you tell me what it should be doing. What are you doing to help the club survive Deerey, NI, IB , seen as though you liked Ironfans comment if I thought giving £10 to the iron trust would save the club believe you me they would get it lol.

“funds should have been built up already” you see the problem here? people like you have marginalised them since Swann was here because” we don’t need a trust,it’s only for clubs in trouble” They were still doing it in the last couple for weeks on other groups. They’ve done well to keep going with such crap attitudes around and now you expect them to have a huge pot to spend ? If they’d had a pot ,you’d have been asking them to give it to your hero Hilton to pay the tax bill he claimedto have paid already

‘What are you doing to help the club survive Deerey’

Giving what I can to the appeal, continuing to make people outside of Scunny aware of the plight and the appeal, offering to help the Trust. Helping to counter smears supposedly originating on here. Not sure what else I can do? Anyway, you miss the point, which was about attitude not a competition over who’s doing the most to help save the club.

The contentious nature of Awaywegos posts, which has probably accounted for 75% of his input over the years on this forum, now threaten to give him 100% brain fog on this particular issue. Which part of standing together as one for OUR football don’t you understand?

There are rumblings of something good happening, which is promising. However, the most important thing for me is the unity we have seen since the fundraiser. For a long part, the division among fans was one of the more upsetting things about the last few months. Not only did that fundraiser help raise money for the staff, but it made fans see past their differences and realise what matters. The club. Hilton’s attempt to divide the fanbase against each other to avoid blame looks to have failed. The only ones left are the die hards, like Herbert, who look more out of touch than ever. What a difference a week makes. Though I do think the banning orders of last week were what turned people round, and the fundraiser made the unity really pick up steam.

If the worst comes to the worst now, I feel we will have a critical mass of people united for the common good of having a team to support, even if it is a phoenix club. For my part I have joined the Trust and donated to the fundraiser. I am feeling more optimistic than I have done for some time.

I think for anything to continue , this needs to be lead by someone who hasn’t backed Hilton, Swann or even both against the fans making noises

Awaywego. Maybe you can outline your ideas for the Trust to raise the many, many thousands of pounds to save/rescue our club and ground?

Thanks ..again..for the above posts IA, Sidey, 64 and Deerey. I’ve not been on much this last week because of hols and poor connection/ limited data. The bits I’ve kept up with re voices calling for unity etc have been so encouraging. IA nails it re Awaywego’s approach. I hope the fog clears. We will need anyone and everyone together if a door of possibility opens.

Personally I think the ‘something good’ might prove to be just as divisive as Hilton.

Apollo 11 please don’t do this, if you know something then give, if not then please keep quiet, speculation will lead to more division eventually.

I’m not doing anything, I promise you. I just mean that you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Whatever happens is going to displease some as much as it pleases others.

Yeah, and in January you could have replaced “Hilton” with “Swann” as a warning.

As I-A says posts like that are not helpful. We know all too well of the perils that could await us.

Hopefully it will be third time lucky!

Both Hilton and Swann still have fingers in the pie.

Not sure there will be much to feel good about until neither has any connection with the club, financial or otherwise. Interesting that both blame the fans of the club for their own failings.

I’m not sure the last part of your post is accurate Apollo. I agree that there may be some who can’t be pleased … but I reckon that by far the vast majority would accept a workable solution that gives a genuine hope and a future.

Did I not suggest building up funds well before Swann left the building 64 it’s not I’ve not questioned the trust down the years you know that, tuther time someone suggested I get off my arse and do something and I’ll re point out that is Surely thats what the trust should be doing not me there are enough of you over 400 last time I heard, do a raffle I’ll sell some tickets, organize a strip do and I will attend or similar,Ill volunteer to do the collection bucket for one game, I’ve offered my donation to buy the ground not just at this time but previous as well. Sure most of us will have given to the appeal but that’s not going to save the ground. The Club there’s another matter, not for me don’t want a community owned club I’ve made it quite clear down the years I just want someone to put money into the club big money. You question my attitude Deerey you’ve been defending everyone’s attitude to the last 2 owners forever or is that different.Dont think anyone can say I’m not pro the club can you honestly say through your posts you have been.

We have something at Notts called Lifeline. Set up in the mid 1980’s, 2,500 people, (That’s the limit allowed due to gambling laws?), pay a tenner a month to be a member. Weekly prizes, quarterly prizes and a once a year £10,000 prize. It doesn’t raise earth shattering amounts, (£200,000 pa ?), but it sure is handy when your club is struggling, as ours has, many times over the years. Or do you think the situation at Scunny is still to “fluid” to set something like that up ATMIT? You could call it “Home Bru” or the “Iron Foundry”, I’ll get me coat………..
