Who knew at the time that that game, and perhaps Whitehall’s red card, would be such a turning point in our season? We were flying before then and since it’s 4 wins in 12 games. Yes we lost Smith and then shortly afterwards Roberts got injured but that doesn’t explain why the defence is suddenly so poor.
Midfielders not tracking their runners, centre forwards who have stopped scoring and stopped even making runs, a goalkeeper who still seems a bit suspect, and a back 4 which has forgotten how to play as a group.
You could maybe blame injuries in January but we’re got players back now, plus Sembie-Ferris has been like a new signing since returning from Peterborough Sports and Pugh’s been given games too.
So just what has gone wrong? How has Dean managed to get so little out of this team since New Year?

Pure conjecture this, of course, but is there anything in the fact Whitehall was an expectant father with a baby due very soon, at that moment? Perhaps he wanted paternity leave which was argued against ‘for the good of the team’… and then Dean took time off on a matchday to go to his brother’s wedding… Double standards, unrest gets in and sets in…
March 6, 2024 at 9:35 am #282147Listen to Deans incoherent interviews, he hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about.
If he comes across in the dressing room as he does in his post and pre match interviews there’s no wonder the players haven’t a clue what he wants from them.

March 6, 2024 at 9:37 am #282149Whitehall always seems a bit disinterested with it all. I don’t think he’s happy here. We have 3 strikers out with other clubs who are scoring and we have two left in the club who can’t be bothered or couldn’t hit a barn door with a banjo, but they’ve playing in a system which just leaves them on their own

It’s plausible, which is why it would never pass pub muster.

That depends on your state of refreshment, of course.

I’ve said countless times that if we go with two up top we’ll score. Those two occasions Dean switched up and went two up top in following games not long back we scored shortly after.
For added competition I’d send Youmbi and Clarke back and bring Carver and Bennett back here.
March 6, 2024 at 2:36 pm #282191CARVER!! You have a short memory, remind me how many he’s scored for us.
March 6, 2024 at 2:44 pm #282193I can remind you of how many he’s scored for Southport – 10!

Under a new manager “fingers crossed” with half a clue he may set the team up to actually attack and put balls in the box. I’m not Carvers biggest fan but he’s scored there so he can score here. Bennett is even chipping in with a few.
May as well bring them back and have competition upfront. As said above, send Clarke and Youmbi back and recall those two.
Would we be any worse off than we are now ?

Moving on from maths to philosophy, why didn’t he score any for us?
Owt to do with coaching/management?
March 6, 2024 at 11:56 pm #282271Without wanting to sound like a broken record… a big red flag for me was the way we capitulated after Notts County last year; he seems lost when things aren’t going to plan and as mentioned above, that’s probably translated to the players.
I don’t thing changing personnel will change our problems either btw- it’s comical people are looking at Bennett and carver again

Way I see it is that we’re light of options up front with one in Whitehall who looks to have downed tools and we have two out on loan with one scoring ten and the other in Bennett scoring of late.
What’s so funny about having more options upfront to call upon until the end of the season ?
I’m not the biggest fans of either in all fairness but with what we have currently… WE NEED MORE OPTIONS.
March 7, 2024 at 8:39 am #282305We always need more options though don’t we, a month ago we needed more midfielders apparently and now we’ve sent a competent local lad out to Spennymoor and paying others to sit in the stands- it’s the same strategy which hasn’t worked for 10 years.
We have more than enough talent at our disposal but for whatever reason they’ve downed tools or the manager is simply not getting the best out of them.

March 7, 2024 at 9:07 am #282321Just noticed that Carver does not feature as a player on the OWS, has his loan secretly been made permanent?

Are we heck, we’ve got plenty of options, we just aren’t getting the most out of them.
