Well the votes are kinda in !!!!
We were not informed about the name of the investor, but they done checks and they are not ideal but are acceptable.
We were asked to vote to allow the board to issue shares etc and bring investment. In the end a vote was approved for the board to return when the members have being given more information including safe guards !!! The vote was about 30 % completely agaist and 70% wanting more info.
See what happens next !!!
Unbelievable.
An owner with no name?
Basically voting blind.
Hitler, Attila the Hun, Kim Jong Un, Mother Theresa, Florence Nightingale, Warren Buffet
It’s all in the name!

A sensible decision
Keep scrutinising and following the money. There will be plenty of journalists willing to help in that department.
Best of luck.

October 2, 2024 at 8:18 am #291434If, indeed, it IS Hilton then doesn’t the very fact he’s up and at another football club so soon after an experience that (to paraphrase him) drove him to the darkest places mentally, then he’s a total fool. I’d suggest that, actually, he’s bided his time and is now piling in on someone vulnerable with his ulterior motive – whatever that may be…

Apologies for the nonsensical grammar, here. Fat thumbs and rushing.
October 2, 2024 at 9:42 am #291442It is possible that a year is enough to get his head straight, but with regards to him I felt it wasn’t sincere. He only ever brought it up to use to deflect from serious questions about his character and actions, as well as to try and deflect responsibility.

Exactly.
October 2, 2024 at 11:57 am #291446Id have him back tomorrow, the grounds sorted for him, club debt free.
Doubt we would have seen the inaction we have over the last 3/4 weeks needing the squad strengthening. Better to try and fail than not to try at all.October 2, 2024 at 12:13 pm #291447It’s only 2 Oct but you’ve won the prize for most idiotic post of the year, hands down. Collect your trophy from Mr A Nally at ITFC. Or the MTFC boardroom… possibly.

Doubt we would have seen the inaction we have over the last 3/4 weeks needing the squad strengthening. Better to try and fail than not to try at all.The ground’s ‘sorted for him’ because we have owners that made the effort and succeeded and not one who didn’t bother and made excuses with nonsensical, supposedly insurmountable, barriers that Michelle managed to navigate in a matter of weeks. Also, we are reduced on debt precisely because we have owners that care now. Bring Dave back and they will stack up again, as will the CCJs and the club will be at risk once more. But hey, maybe we get a new player for a few months before it implodes, which is obviously more important than having a club.

TBF to Awaywego he is very good at being an idiot, seems almost like a natural gift he has.

Glad the majority of shareholders made the right call wanting more info before deciding. However, the fact the Board won’t tell you the investors name should be enough to tell you all that something is seriously not right. What on earth does ‘done checks, not ideal but acceptable’ mean? What definitions are they using. Do you have any faith in the Board MTFC? Do they know what they are doing and is it the best for the club’s stability and it’s future? Not getting good vibes from them based on actions so far.
Also, when are they returning to you and where does this leave your EGM that was scheduled for tomorrow?

Who needs a name when you can choose from so many?

It might not actually be the board’s call. It could be some sort of a contractual condition.

October 2, 2024 at 4:16 pm #291462If the investor with no/several names has connections with Ilkeston and Scunthorpe it might depend on which direction the MTFC board are looking?
October 2, 2024 at 5:57 pm #291464Money laundering via non-league clubs is rife. When are the authorities going to crack down on it with any sort of meaning? Absolute joke and destroying clubs essential to thriving positive communities.

I have little doubt there’s money laundering going on in the EFL, and probably nearer to home than many think.

October 2, 2024 at 7:23 pm #291467Oh aye, but it’s easier with non-league clubs as there’s less scrutiny and interest from the authorities. There’s been enough research in to it and published articles to merit more serious crackdowns.

October 2, 2024 at 8:16 pm #291471Well I wouldn’t trust a turk.
Yet you’d trust a convicted fraudster. I don’t trust any football club owners.

I recall reading about the takeover when it was announced and thinking this will end up in tears. It is about time the football authorities actually started to implement some proper governance in relation to club ownership. Football clubs are so ingrained into their local communities, and it seems that there are so many unsavory characters that are willing to take on ownership. When the proverbial hits the fan, the repercussions are felt beyond the club players and staff.

October 2, 2024 at 10:16 pm #291475Too easy for the shysters
October 3, 2024 at 6:38 am #291477Hard one to call on who and what determines a proper and fit person to own a football club.
Should the said person have the wealth to be able to pay for said club and ground Or at least able to show how you could pay ?
If that be in the case of Michelle she wouldn’t have passed, and we can all see through the test of time that decision would have been wrong whatever happens in the future.
Like I say an hard one to call.October 3, 2024 at 7:31 am #291478Not being a convicted fraudster would be a good place to start…
It is an interesting point though; Peter Swann would have passed every fit and proper test going and certainly put a substantial amount of his own money into this club, however you wouldn’t want him near your football club.
October 3, 2024 at 11:22 am #291493Good point Cliff, unfortunately egotism and narcissism aren’t part of the fit and proper test.
October 3, 2024 at 11:55 am #291495Hilton has nothing when it comes to The Saudi prince of Arabia, or now has it would seem to Mohamed al- Fayed.
The only criminals I would bar would be Kiddie fiddlers, rapists and terrorists.
Other than that it should be done on proof of funding and like I said Michelle would have failed on that score.October 3, 2024 at 12:12 pm #291496So nothing in the test for you about being a convicted fraudster, being barred from being a company Director, never filing a annual return at Companies House with multiple companies dissolved or struck off? Having a traceable income as and business history that withstands scrutiny should be a prerequisite IMO
