Super display by GK – just one intcy wintcy problem …

9 for Onariase for intelligence, presence and leadership. We have, at last, got a viable skipper.

8s for Beestin and Taylor who finally showed a bit of class.

    No 5s, today.

    O’Malley played really well 7.

    Green – 6 or 7.

A tad ironic but most enjoyable game for any passing neutral.

Spence probably lost his first team place this afternoon.

Playing attacking football looks to be a much better bet than not bothering to get the ball into the opposition box.

    Rest were 6s for me

Spence was suspended wasn’t he, about time we played attacking football, but we are getting in poor position and it looks like a two horse race at the moment for the drop.

It’s always better to be at the bottom at the start of the season, Mick.

Credit where it’s due. Given the circumstances, that’s arguably our best performance this season. Carved out enough opportunities to get something and left to rue missed chances. Unlucky – but plenty of heart shown and a real battling performance. Agree with Les, Manny & the Beest were excellent.

A mention for McAtee too – seemingly in a better frame of mind and much improved. Think we lost momentum when he was subbed. Green also lively and should have given Cox something to think about.

Cant fault Jarvis’ effort as he works hard and puts in a real shift, but he has to do better in front of goal. Has missed big opportunities at crucial times for the last few weeks. Two more today. If those go in and we could be talking about different games.

5 more and Russ out with covid.
That team we are putting out is really bare bones.
Watson, Cordner, Bedeau, Gillead & Eisa presumably the ones.
It’s going to be a rough afternoon.

Could be those but we only had 5 subs. Where were Olomola, Brown, Butroid & Dales?

Butroid and Dales didn’t figure last week so possibly the 2 who had an issue with COVID for that game. I read this as 5 more so 7 total?

Brown and Olomola still not fit enough?

    That would be my guess.

    Pretty much agree with Lesgeo.

Shame Howard made the howler but first game since JaJanuary and only 2 training sessions something like that was always a possibility. He does look like a proper goalkeeper though.

Onariase is now number 1 centre back. Cox please pick 1 other to play with him (note 1 other not 2). Probably McGahey for me once he is fit. Roe did enough to suggest a run at right back is in order. O’Malley did fine but Brown wI’ll be in once fit.

Beeston and Taylor better than Spence and Vincent on that showing. Green did OK but Gillead is better with and without the ball. I don’t get Hippolyte. Does very lititle with the ball and even lessay without it. Eisa for me and would rather have Dale’s if Abo not available.

Jarvis works harder than Loft so would perservere with him for now but needs a goal or two soon. McAtee can hang on to the No 10 position until KVV is fit then he is on the bench.

There is a mid table team in there somewhere.

Rowe has to start every week for me going by today’s performance. Beestin was outstanding, which begs the question why the hell he wasn’t playing ?. Beestin and Taylor worked together really well.

Green was dangerous going forward, if at times a bit erratic. Jarvis was really good, until it came to converting chances.

    Onaraise is rock solid.

Nat a bad side once the covid sufferers are back.

    Howard

    Brown Onaraise Mcgahey Rowe
    Eisa Beestin Taylor Gillead
    Olomola/McAtee Turan

I wouldn’t play Jarvis anymore personally, he’s tireless but not got that quality when needed. Rowe, Beestin and Green who came in from the cold all did really well though.

Beestin going by that has to start…going by that it’s criminal he was been overlooked. Rowe is another one, why he’s not been playing before now is ridiculous.

Upfront is a bit of an issue but I’d stick Turan up there now and give him a go. Jarvis does everything right up until it’s time to stick chances away and he fluffs his lines.

Jarvis would be a good striker if he sorted that side of his game out but as a striker that’s the crucial part and we can ill afford to keep waiting to see if he does become more clinical because it’s costing us goals/points.

Really pleased with today though, even with the loss. Million miles better. Rowe, Beestin and Green showed well enough to prove they’re good enough.

Going by that, once Brown starts next week and have Rowe at RB..we’ll actually have fully functioning, solid fullbacks.

I can’t quite believe how good Beestin and Taylor were in the middle. Only one game but going by that Beestin is worth a long contract. I think he’s only here until end of season and you would have thought he wouldn’t be on a lot of money either.

We must stay with either 4/4/2 or 4/4/1/1 today showed we play better with a much simpler shape.

No more of Cox trying to replicate a premier league style formation.

Disheartening to lose again but at least we actually looked like a team who could get something out the game. Finally getting some decent deliveries into the box and it’s a shame we couldn’t do more to capitalise- Jarvis should’ve buried that header first half and Green should’ve made the keeper work for his effort second half.

Beestin, Green and Onariase impressed. Howard had a good game overall but that howler was criminal and put the game beyond reach- really have to cut those errors out and quickly.

On a side note it’s a complete farce that today’s game should have been allowed to go ahead with half of our first team and coaching staff not in attendance.

On the OWS the story about Mussy’s reaction there is a picture at the top. Between Stanton and Clarke on the bench is that Watson?

If so then he isn’t one of those isolating obviously.

Edit – never mind I’ve read it now Eisa and Watson injured not COVID related.

Rowe has to get the nod over hornshaw for me once people are back etc. Hornshaw has been very hit and miss and is very naive at times always pushing forward leaving space behind, sure you could say that other players need to be defending that space. But as a player you need to judge it,

He’s a CM playing at right back. And tends to get targeted down his side when ever he plays

Here’s what I learned, admittedly based on a small sample.
    1. Rowe is a better defender than Hornshaw.
    2. Beestin is better than Vincent, and he’s our player.
    3. Onariase is a top signing and more captain material then Gillead.
    4. We need Brown fit asap.
    5. Hippolyte should never be selected before a fit Eisa and probably not in front of Dales or Green.
    6. Jarvis is not a ‘natural’ finisher.
    7. We need McAtee match fit and interested.

    7. Looking at the way he walked off after being substituted it may take a bit of work.

More poor defending, no tackles at crucial times and leaving a player unmarked in the box. Could someone tell me were the positives were in another defeat please.
