Is there any way of blocking out all this Oasis hysteria? I mean I bought Definitely Maybe when it was released and saw them in their very early days. They were great for a year or two but shite after Morning Glory. Noel’s an arrogant dickhead and Liam’s thick as mince. What a load of shite.

Sadly not managed to avoid all the media and Internet hype the last few days. I’ve come to the conclusion that amongst the die hard older fans who are over excited by the news, there are lots who ‘couldn’t give a shit’ (as one Burnage resident commented) there are a lot of younger people who never saw them live (fair enough) and a large swathe of middle class posho’s instructing traditional working class older folk who saw and appreciated them in their earlier years to stop being ‘music snobs’. Frankly this last cohort can go and f*** themselves. I’m sure this reaction would meet the dim-witted brothers approval.

Report on the GMB this morning reckons for every 100 tickets sold 50 will be fraudulent and people will be turned away at the venues. I know ticket fraud is rife but 50% of all sales being dud sounds a lot even by today’s dodgy ticketing standards. Apparently the bastard brothers will clear £50 million each after the tour, it’s always about the money.

    50%?? Surely not?

Heard £50m each touted. £20m towards Parker’s divorce costs and £1m towards servants to make Liam’s Cup a soups again. He’s sick of doing them himself apparently.

Good point about it being all about the money. I would agree that In most cases with reunions it is. I do understand that motive to an extent where down on their heels musicians who can’t survive on streaming royalties are needing to do it. These two are doing it to keep their extravagant lifestyles going IMO.

Without much interest in Oasis, an observation of mine is that artists don’t perform at concerts any more, they lead singalongs.

I’d say thats about right for large open air gigs

New article from music journalist Simon Price that re-hashes a fair bit of old content from a previous piece some years ago. He makes some valid points. Take it or leave it. Just thought it worth sharing as an antidote to the gushing hysteria.

    I think it’s “Lingalongamax”.

(But please don’t tell anyone that I knew that.)

I don’t think you’re alone on that one. Guilty as charged. Also, singalongs at open air concerts. Yep.

I have seen Oasis a few times plus Noel on three occasions. I have registered for Saturdays hoe-down and hope to get Wembley tickets on my next birthday. Recently saw Future Islands for the 5th time, music is a broad church. Last night in our pub the Landlord played in full ‘Abbey Road’ & ‘Harvest’ on their sound system. It was very enjoyable. UTWI

    ‘music is a broad church’

Certainly is and rightly so. No one is denying that

Saw them live in their early days. Boring.

Having said that, the first two albums are good.
