It’s the catering premises that get the ratings not the person, Dannys smoking goat 5, Glandford park 1 come the end of the season and Danny has left Danny’s will stay at 5 Michelle’s will remain at 1 until improvement’s are made, not like Danny or Michelle have had much time to sort it out Danny didnt take the contract on for the season till September and the inspection was late October and to be fair to Michelle she only took over in early October lets hope she gets it improved for the next inspection nothing more than a 5 will do next time.
April 14, 2024 at 4:33 pm #283981The catering premises are the responsibility of the caterer. They don’t cater for themselves, so if there’spoor hygiene, the fault usuallystems from human error. Some of the things I have been told originate from this year, and none reflect well on The Smoking Goat. A capable caterer should be able to achieve more than a 1 star hygiene rating through adequate kitchen management.
It will affect Michelle to be left with it, but that again comes from the caterers.
April 14, 2024 at 7:37 pm #283987A 1 star rating demands immediate improvements and seen as though the inspection was in October we must take it they have been made or they wouldn’t still be operating. Or do they just inspect and say major improvements are needed and just leave it at that.
April 14, 2024 at 7:41 pm #283988It hasn’t been inspected since, according to the food hygiene website.

The return of the Dean and Stamp “Dream Team”
IFA ??? i most certainly have not advocated for the return of Dean , IMO Stamp would not be a bad move though….
Dean no way
Stamp .. personally apart from the Apple crumble i didnt like the look of the food during his tenture at AAGP was always a meat pie n Bovril guy not burgers, respect for stepping in when he did though….that said my daughter and family do regularly frequent Take A Gander and say very good things re the place and food.
November 4, 2024 at 9:51 am #292918Review of the Newark Road takeaway now it’s finally opened.
Food arrived 40min late when ordered for a specific time, got a call to say they can’t do the gluten free option we picked even though it’s an option on there and we paid for it, why we were able to order and pay for it if you can’t do it! Once the food finally arrived late, we found to have a whole main order was missing! We got a call to say it’s there it was put with the gluten free option! Well no because then you’ve mixed a gluten free option with a non gluten option! It wasn’t there anyway luckily because if it was the gluten free one wouldn’t have been gluten free anymore! Getting a refund but then found out my partner has received horrible and sarcastic comments because we said the service is shocking which it is! Absolute appalling service and behaviour nothing I’d expect from a professional business if you don’t like the comments about the service try getting it right the first time and don’t make excuses! Food was OK nothing to write home about. Won’t be trying again awful service!
Food: 3/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5
Like“Horrible and Sarcastic Comments” Sounds Familar…
November 4, 2024 at 10:51 am #292924Talking of food appalling cooking by the catering staff at glanny mixing, well no actually placing cooked burgers on top of frozen ones, (pictures on tuther side) that wont improve the food ratings I’m afraid. Sort it out but more training needed.
At least Michelle should have seen it to sort otherwise you could just see that practice carrying on.November 4, 2024 at 2:06 pm #292936Talking of food appalling cooking by the catering staff at glanny mixing, well no actually placing cooked burgers on top of frozen ones, (pictures on tuther side) that wont improve the food ratings I’m afraid. At least Michelle should have seen it to sort otherwise you could just see that practice carrying on.Ventured over to the dark side and saw the offending picture. Not great for the club but also not nice to see some ‘supporters’ are suggesting the photo be forwarded to relevant authorities. I have sympathy for Michelle if she is having to manage at catering staff level since Kelvins departure. Maybe an external vendor would be the best route at this stage, the incinerated goat or someone / anyone else? Whilst it would mean having to split profits, a share of something is better than all of nothing if the food licence is taken away. There were grumbles in the stand on Saturday that a lot of products weren’t available so clearly some stock issues too. Help needed ASAP.
November 4, 2024 at 2:07 pm #292937I doubt the Goat will be invited back.

November 5, 2024 at 9:32 am #292986November 5, 2024 at 9:36 am #292989Dale Broughton at Spalding serves up some cracking food, Decent lad too. unfortunately it’s at Spalding.
November 5, 2024 at 10:15 am #292990Photos like that should be sent to the relevant authorities how are things supposed to change without them.
Pretty sure they have a supervisor if not in all outlets at least one going round to do checks, certainly don’t need Michelle there.
Ps IFA, the food at Curzon like that is only available to home fans in the main when a big away support turns up they segregate so no chips, peas, gravy or beer from the bar, away fans limited to pies, burgers and overpriced tinies from a shack.November 5, 2024 at 10:19 am #292991I’m sure many ongoing chats regarding food at AA are ongoing.
Good friend of mine is having a chat.Let’s see.
Heard someone state this burger ain’t great on Saturday for then the next breath ‘Glad the foot longs are of the menu as there’s too much bread!
Funny old world we live.Club should do a questionnaire/poll to see what the fans actually would like at the match.
Always think a cracking meat pie is the best foundation with a bovril.Tbh I never eat in any ground as I can manage without eating for 105 minutes bar an odd humbug.

November 5, 2024 at 10:26 am #292993On the occasions I’ve used it in the DRE recently, there doesn’t seem to have been anyone noticeably ‘in control’ of catering, just a load of teenagers in almost headless chicken mode. Obviously things are going awry with the food – and some of this has to be down to staffing in the first place, and then training. Perhaps it’s a money issue, perhaps the equipment is outdated. It’s worrying.
November 5, 2024 at 11:05 am #292998Thought Danny said the equipment was to be replaced during last summer.
One of the products that wasn’t available was hot water at one outlet to make hot drinks now that is really bad. (According to a report on tuther side)November 5, 2024 at 11:28 am #292999I know many restaurants have struggled with staffing for sometime now.
And generally when eating out it’s quite a big disappointment when you sit there for 30 mins for a drinks order to be taken. Then another 20 for menus to come or food order to be taken or having on numerous occasions ask for something. Then to be told we don’t have this that on the menu.
So it’s not just at the AA.Young folk need a strong supervision but to try and get the quality on a Saturday afternoon for 2 hours is obviously difficult.
Not making excuses for anyone as my standards are high and that’s exactly why I don’t bother eating at the ground.
Like I stated a poll on what folk actually want to eat at the match would be a good start rather than the complaining this and that is crap.
More pressing matters on the field in my opinion for us to worry about what garbage I’m filling the engine.

November 5, 2024 at 1:04 pm #293003Saw that food pic from Curzon too IFA. Awaywego right about the away fan offering there. After half time I enjoyed a luke warm strongbow – about the only thing left but I don’t think the options before it were amazing?
November 5, 2024 at 2:11 pm #293010Start off with chips, rice maybe RB, we have a chef who should be able to muster something to put on them Bolognese, pulled pork, spicy chicken vary it a bit big batch cooking cheap to produce bigger profits for the club.
If the club can’t be arsed to open on the best trading day of the week (Sunday) we can suggest all we want but their hardly likely to take sny notice they’ll just want the simplicity of the frozen burger on griddle no waste approach good for them piss poor for us.November 5, 2024 at 3:02 pm #293013A nice early start,a few pints then to soak it up Pie n peas with gravy (chuck in some proper chippy chips and bingo the perfect footy ensemble, after the final whistle straight out on the town n meet the missus after she been all dolled up about 9pm then boogey the nights away at Tiffanys or Garbos then a Frod rd Indian.
BTW has to be a Hollands meat n potato …twas always my number one choice.
November 5, 2024 at 3:28 pm #293014It’s got to be easy prep and tasty for match day.
Chips need decent supervision on the fryers unless they are oven chips which M&S do nice ones BTW.Surely a AA pie tasting evening with vendors showing their wares. Then a casting vote for the favoured pie. With the winners to do a themed pie of the month.
If all else fails get a serving hatch opened up and order of deliveroo or whatever they call it.
Order what you want. How much is a pie at a ground now? Never had one so not got a foggiest.
November 5, 2024 at 3:36 pm #293015Footy food has to address its biggest single challenge. You have two fairly short windows to serve 90% of your product. From about 14:30 until just before kick off then again at half time with about 5 minutes either side.
During these times you want your staff passing out food and drinks, taking payment and moving on. Maybe having one adding food options (peas, gravy, onions etc.) and maybe another pouring drinks.
Cooking stuff and messing about with multi options is bad news for vendors and punters alike.
Menu for hot food should be no more than 5 or 6 and only things that can be batch prepared and ready to rock for the 2 peaks. No expensive catering equipment needed to keep things warm and edible for 30 minutes. Soft drinks and beer in plastic bottles. The club are surely missing out on an earner not selling beer while they can.
The few times I have had decent footy food it invariably follows these principles and the vast majority of times has been done in partnership with businesses that know how to do event food.

Staff!! That’s one of the largest challenge. Whom wants to give up a few hours on a Saturday afternoon to serve?
Kids will do it but generally they aren’t interested.Pie and peas is enough. Bollocks to the gravy the pies should have enough in to when the whistle.
Get the basics right first.
Anyway all this chatter on food. When has the fare been of good standard at GP?
As I don’t eat there I wouldn’t know but just here the moaning tbh it’s been a long long time since I’ve heard ‘Ey up the pies are excellent’ if ever so it’s not just happened this last 12 months!!November 5, 2024 at 5:01 pm #293021Pity Pat O’Cake stormed off in a huff last year. He’d have plenty to contribute to this subject I reckon.

November 5, 2024 at 6:52 pm #293025Grandson and his mate ate in the ground while Danny was here, they now go to maccie’s or Taco bell that says it all.
Many away fans last season were asking where to go for food on here and most were directing them to eat in the ground would we do the same now, I don’t think so.November 6, 2024 at 2:52 pm #293147Can we not sponsor the various ailments people will get from poor food prep?
