Sorry fellow Iron faithful the writing is on the wall.
The team wasn’t good enough last season and is even worse this season. The only goal threat Loft (when he could be arsed) has gone.
Keith arrived made an impact and after 2 months came to the same conclusion we already knew.
This transfer window was our only hope, the owner won’t budge and players simply won’t come.
We are going out with a whimper instead of a bang.

January 16, 2022 at 8:42 pm #221887Would dispute that Loft took many goals with him when he left or that Hill has made much of an impact but completely agree that we’re going down with a whimper.

January 16, 2022 at 8:49 pm #221889Simple formula.
No shots on target means no goals (barring a lucky OG).
No goals scored means you can’t win. That means the best you can hope for is 0-0 draw.
Draws will not keep us in the league.

January 17, 2022 at 12:03 am #221899agree totally with previous posts .. im more of the mind we could tail off and end up finishing rock bottom by a considerable margin rather than even being close to surviving .. hate these thoughts but just being a realist, i just cant see where a win any win will come from let alone stringing a few wins together to get some confidence and offer a glimmer of hope.
Obviously being in this mess does mean players dont want to come here and loans are not the answer.
Most Scunny fans realize the writing is on the wall and 70 plus years of football league status will be lost come the end of the season.. the NL beckons and will Hill stay when thats happened? then what will the disgrace that is Peter Swann choose to do.7 users thanked author for this post.

What will Swann do?, why build build and build again, houses that is not a football club.

January 17, 2022 at 10:12 am #221915It’s so depressing, even when we’ve been near the bottom facing reelection, or narrowly avoiding the drop we’ve had “something” that gave us hope that we would either survive or recover if we dropped. We’ve had terrible squads before, but they’ve had “something” (they’ve lacked skill but had “fight”).
As a Scunthorpe United fan, I don’t expect success, I don’t go to a game expecting 3 points, but I do expect “something”.
But at the moment I don’t see “anything” that could provide hope.
The pessimists have got it right this time.8 users thanked author for this post.
January 23, 2022 at 7:23 am #230292Apparently Ernest can now see that this current squad is not good enough.
‘HELLO’
So 8 days left in the transfer window to really make a difference.

“As a Scunthorpe United fan, I don’t expect success, I don’t go to a game expecting 3 points, but I do expect “something”.
But at the moment I don’t see “anything” that could provide hope.”There is nothing there at all, a defence that seems incapable of keeping clean sheets, more often than not giving ‘soft’ goals away. A midfield that lacks bite, creativity and even legs (how many times yesterday were we failing to keep midfield runners) and a forward line that looks like they could play until Christmas and struggle to have an effort on target let alone actually score. This is game after game, when the inevitable happens and we go down surely the head of scouting/ recruitment must resign? This squad is not and never was capable of keeping us up. So much for Will’s plan to get us back to the Championship!!

February 19, 2022 at 6:11 pm #232256Utter crap and its getting worse, teams only after run at us and we literally become a jibbering bunch of even more useless twats than normal.
Too many of our players spend too much time passing backwards, they would rather play a 40 yard back pass than a 10 yard forward one.
There are glimpses of positives but very few and far between and certainly not enough to keep the club in the football league.
Lost to most of the teams around us, and every one of them even Walsall have looked better sides.

February 20, 2022 at 6:06 pm #232409And now the end is near so we face the final curtain
So Apt 😞
February 20, 2022 at 6:29 pm #232411IK – you are right about the passing backwards.
When you have 15+ yards clear in front of you – the plan should be to go forwards. Who knows – defenders may even go backwards and you can cover 20+ yards.
IF people take advantage in these situations. Nearby players must read the progress and tuck in to create an outlet for the ball carrier.
It ain’t rocket science.Back to one of my hobby horses. When facing the wrong way – learn how to do a 180 degree turn. It causes mayhem to the opposition. It is not a Pele-standard skill. Even the poorest midfielder can: a) learn to do it and b) learn to read when to try it and when not.
February 20, 2022 at 7:08 pm #232415Actually after seeing the picture of the living lard bucket in his shitty tracky bottoms passing as a Rochdale fan from yesterday, the topic headline reminds me of him.

March 27, 2022 at 10:29 pm #234352It’s getting worse on and off the pitch.
The football we are being served up is the worst I have ever seen in over 46 years.
Where can I buy the rose tinted glasses as worn by Ernest Pawn and Kith Helli ?

March 28, 2022 at 11:29 am #234391Has he been kiss arsing Swann and his family 🤔
March 28, 2022 at 1:01 pm #234409Only this morning on Humberside he was telling us what a great job Swann and his wife were doing.
March 28, 2022 at 1:39 pm #234418It seems the only difference between Hill and Cox is that Hill has a Chorley accent.

March 28, 2022 at 3:01 pm #234443Didn’t hear that PP, thanks.
April 2, 2022 at 6:33 pm #234831Well well dear old Ernest Pawn has not only seen us out of the league after 72 years he has done a monumental runner.
After bullshit, then after more bullshit and some more bullshit tooboot he has done a massive back track and a retreat befitting the Italians in WW 11 or Saddam Hussian in Gulf War 1 (that’s the legal one for any numpty about to spill their guts)!!!!!!
If you are a man of your word you will sell the club in total, walk away to be confined to the anals (deliberate) of history, and leave no strings ie the car park for development in your stead.
This complete and utter disaster is of your making and yours alone and now you have chosen to stand down or run away. Leave the ground and its facilities intact to retrieve some semblance or modicum of respect.
