Firstly Maidstone was the worst side I’ve seen at scunny for over 20 years. Couldn’t string two passes. And like normal a side only need one half sniff at our goal to score…
Don’t know how daws can say we played wel for 70 mins. First half was terrible. Second not much better. Created two good chances but nothing else.
I can’t believe we are still playing 5 at the back. More so against a side who’s conceded almost 50 goals already. Why’s he’s not attacking it knowing they leak goals like us?
Having two attacking mids in a midfeild of 2 simply won’t work. No ball winner or someone to get the second balls. There no protection for a poor defence as it is.
Looking at fixtures till January I can’t see a winner coming anywhere.

November 13, 2022 at 1:16 pm #248593I’m so disappointed to say, that we will almost certainly be playing National League North next season. Swann has destroyed this club, and has done so deliberately. He will be alright though, his horse racing business still owns OUR GROUND. 🤬

November 13, 2022 at 1:58 pm #248598I thought we played with a back four yesterday Tom. I think we would have been better off playing 3 – 5 – 2 with Wilson in instead of Pugh. But with forwards unable to hit a barn door at 3 paces would it have made any different.
November 13, 2022 at 2:01 pm #248600The fact no-one can definitively agree on what formation we play speaks volumes.

November 13, 2022 at 3:12 pm #248602The players didn’t seem to know what to do or where to be.

November 13, 2022 at 4:22 pm #248604Scunny has always played exciting attacking football under a 442, Swann’s era has been defined by each and every manager switching to 532 (352). It’s really bizarre.

November 13, 2022 at 5:03 pm #248606I thought Maidstone played some good football far from the worst team in twenty years Tom and certainly out passed us yesterday.

November 13, 2022 at 6:42 pm #248612Came here to take a point, they got lucky due to our woeful strikers wasting two good chances, then took advantage of poor defending from our left back allowing the cross in,how many times have the opposition taken advantage of our weak link this season. We continue with the same lumped up ball from boyce to nuttall which rarely comes to anything and play to their strengths. We desperately need a midfield leader and motivator unfortunately we don’t have one in this squad.
November 13, 2022 at 7:37 pm #248616But 7 wins in the last 75 league games and I don’t think we have won any Cup games in that time either means it is not a good time to be a Iron fan, so I think we are doomed.

November 13, 2022 at 7:56 pm #248618Manager down the road at Gainsborough might be worth a punt ,might be a cheap option ,could bring some motivation back, would be hungry for a chance
November 13, 2022 at 9:23 pm #248619We’re now in such a mess even a potential takeover won’t save us from yet another relegation.

Tom, Maidstone are not the worst team that you have seen at GP in 20 years, the present Scunthorpe United are certainly the worst team that have played there.
I gave up attending two years ago after 70 years supporting them, please answer me one question Tom, why the hell do you keep attending???????????, things will never change under Swann, you should be aware of that pal, the past six years are proof of that, sadly the club will be liquidated within three months, so I can only assume that you have bought a season ticket, but surely leaving GP each match feeling as low as fans must do, I just cannot see any point any longer, the owner, the management and players certainly do not play for either club or fans, so why should fans pay money to support them, and feel sicker as each match and each season passes, I will never attend whilst Swann is at the club, so after saying that, and Swann will not leave until the club exists, I shall never go again!!!!!
Looking at fixtures till January I can’t see a winner coming anywhere.

November 14, 2022 at 6:41 am #248632I continue to go simply because my love for Scunthorpe United far outweighs my distain for the prick that is doing this to our club.
The 1st half on Saturday was the worst half of football I have ever seen, and Maidstone are the worst side apart from Scunthorpe that I have seen at GP/OSG in nigh on 40 years of attending yet still beat us comfortably….sigh!

November 14, 2022 at 7:34 am #248633It’s an effort for me to attend – I need an incentive. (In fact have needed one for five years, I suppose.)
Had planned to come to the Notts Co game as the early K.O. suits me but …November 14, 2022 at 9:38 am #248638Get the ticket bought, make the commitment, see it first hand, give the transistor radio a rest. It’s football we come to watch, tactics ,tackles, goals from both teams. You might enjoy it again,as the good lady says, ah go on ,go on ,go on ,go on You know you want to

Sadly too many of those have been missing for too long.

November 15, 2022 at 4:22 am #248670Daws has crap at his disposal for the most part but not involving Daniel and Whitehouse is criminal. 5 at the back doesn’t work as we’re always over run in Midfield.
Daws has proven before he’s got no tactical nous and that’s coming to the forefront yet again. The blokes a dud in terms of first team management.
I’d go as far as saying he needs booting out with the rest of the crap when/if we actually get taken over. 4 at the back and stick an extra body in midfield, either Whitehouse or Pugh and go 4/3/3 or 4/3/1/2 stick Apter in behind Nuttall and Lavery, it’s not fecking rocket science.

A solid 4 in the middle with the extra man (Apter) up top to cause mayhem.A 3-5-2 invites teams on and unintentionally ends up being a 5-3-2 whereby you are overrun.
Or, stick with the tried & tested 4-4-2
