Not sure if I’m worrying over nothing, but is anyone else concerned that we will struggle to keep 11 players on the pitch in the next match.
We have been poor with regards to discipline this season – and you cant just blame the ability of the match officials.
Not sure of the rules in the play offs – but I would think if you get a Red card in the semmi it puts you out for the final?
I hope Jimmy has had a word – and not just with the players :) UTI
I think (and hope) you are overestimating the risk Plymiron.
I think Evans is the player with the shortest fuse and is definitely targeted because of that but I think Jimmy will have him on the bench and stick with Kouogan and Boyce.
I would play Evans and risk the temper as he is easily the best passer of the 3 and equally good defensively. If we were playing Alfreton or Curzon I think it would be more of an issue. Boston are physically strong and they keep intensity levels throughout the game but they favour a bit of football rather than the dark arts to get results.
Whitehall gets into a few spats mainly because of his own attempts at shithousery but I was impressed with him at Spennymoor. He was unfairly booked early on and targeted for the rest of the game without ever responding.
I think our other red cards have been Scales and McAlinden for mistimed tackles, the kind of things that happen now and again.
I know some fans think refs have a downer on us and on Whitehall in particular. Apart from the idiot at Spennymoor I think a scary number of refs have been incompetent but not biased. Quite a few refs would not give Whitehall a free kick unless he was a victim of of GBH but he brings that upon himself and obviously his reputation goes before him.
Hoping for a decent ref, Whitehall concentrating on his football, no red cards, a good game, a record crowd, no bloody flares and an iron win in normal time.
Not much to ask.
I’m not worried about our player’s discipline. Whitehalls red was a joke, should have been a yellow for him and the opposing player. I agree with MK about the Scales and Mcalindens reds.
The turning point of the season for me was probably against Tamworth – Evans taking an elbow in the face right in front of the ref, no action and 10 seconds later Denton gets a red for pulling the Tamworth player down.
I reckon our players have learned the hard way this season and will do a professional job in this playoff.
written in the stars , why so worried ..after a lazy 45 mins and 45 mins trying to break em down its 1-1 90 mins … Boston will win on pens anyway .. 4-2 cos i believe we will bottle it ..
UNLESS OF COURSE YOU KNOW DIFFERENT ??????
