Probably never happen but I believe an experienced ex pro with deep knowledge of the game, experience at this level and an eye for a young star or maybe even contacts that can attract bit of quality could be a wise move at this time.
Yes we have Wilcox onboard but wonder if his ex boss might be available, even part time??
What Lawsy?
The club already has a DoF.
Given the regular changes of manager, I think this would be a very sensible approach, giving the club a bit more long-term direction.
Fair point Ferrite, but could you really see Ernest allowing anyone but himself meddle with his club?
We have one already
I’ll play along !
Who is it ? Then I will answer with who I think is being set up for it !!
The team are playing as if it’s Wilcox.
Jordan Clarke – Check out the statement when he was signed.
Seemed to hint at a future role off the pitch.
You all know who it is really!
Maybe the thread should be titled “Dictator of Football”?
It’s OK if people think it’s PS who signs the players and decides who plays and what formation, to me this all has Russ written over it, style of football is similar to the long run with better players and how he played at York, the signings, a lot of players where either what he brought here last season or players he probably watched last season apart from what Neil brought in, so I could be wrong but if there is a director of football I think he is manager of the u23s.
Swann appears to be the master controller. Why would we appoint a director of football when Swann’s here ?. No doubt he’s able to do it all.

That would be the final nail in the coffin.
Personally I would give it to Lex Lamb, the telegraph’s chief sports writer.
He seems to have all of the answers…..

But what about WG? The man who knows everything……

You forgot to insert ” thinks he ” between who and knows.
Surely you have to be capable of playing football, as a team, before appointing a Director of Football.
