I don’t think we can afford him. Would be ideal but it won’t happen.

November 3, 2024 at 9:41 pm #292882Harrogate (L2) away for Dec & the boys in R2 of the FA Cup.
Bag a couple in that game and there will be interest from clubs.November 3, 2024 at 9:42 pm #292883I don’t think we can afford him. Would be ideal but it won’t happen.
I wonder what Trinity value him at?
His stock is ever increasing.November 3, 2024 at 10:01 pm #292884We need tried and tested players for this league.
Really?
Vardy (then aged 22); National League to Championship when Leicester signed him for a non league record of £1M.Holds the record for most consecutive games scored in the Premier League – 11 games.
Premier League Player of the Year & FWA Footballer of the Year in Leicester’s title winning season.
Premier League Golden Boot winner in 2019-20.
The only player in history to play in every round of the FA Cup, from the preliminary stages to the final.
26 England caps, 7 goals.Leicester did well taking a ‘punt’ on Vardy!

…and how often does that happen Rene?
November 4, 2024 at 12:27 am #292892Quite frequently… check the links previously posted.
Other good examples:
Stuart Pearce
Ian Wright
Chris Waddle
Vinnie Jones
Chris Smalling
Joe Hart
Peter Crouch (loaned by Spurs)
Ashley Williams
Danny Ings
Les Ferdinand
Jimmy Bullard
Steve Finan
Kevin Philips
Tyrone Mings
Andre Gray
Yannick Bolasie
Stan CollymoreI’m sure you guys will have many others that I’ve omitted as history is littered with these ‘rags to riches’ players.

November 4, 2024 at 2:41 am #292895I remember we were offered vardy for around 300k after he ran us ragged for Halifax in a friendly, but turned it down due to it being too big a risk !

‘Speculate to accumulate’ ?
Risk… the managers/recruitment have made some right old howlers over the years.
Kenny Milne signed from Falkirk, wasn’t the fee about £400k ?, apparently he was injured when signed, came off in his 2nd game for us, injured for 2 years, made just 5 appearances yet pocketed £5k a week in wages. You couldn’t make it up.

Bit ironic that players need to be ‘tried and tested’ but the manager steering the ship needn’t be.

November 6, 2024 at 9:37 pm #293195Fantastic strike!
17th of the season.November 8, 2024 at 9:53 am #293368Mr Sherbert out of the clinker and back with a bang on the SUFG. Claiming we are looking at a CM from Farsley and a Striker from Gainsborough. Not sure how ITK he is now (or ever was when he was getting filled with Dodgy Dave’s hot air) BUUUTTTT (sorry Andy) could Rene be getting his Dec Howe dream?
November 8, 2024 at 10:17 am #293373Well we can certainly agree on Ratty Arbuckle, 414. It did make me laugh how he’s been welcomed back in to the fold like the prodigal son (okay maybe an exaggeration). Also telling how at least one dummy spitter from Bru is entertaining him like nothing ever happened.

November 8, 2024 at 10:28 am #293375Has he got a football banning order?
November 8, 2024 at 10:40 am #293376At The Attis I heard. Don’t know about wider
November 8, 2024 at 10:48 am #293378Striker from Farsley would be good IMO. Campton-Sturridge looked the business to me, albeit in a poor side. Doubt Howe would be affordable with his current scoring form.
