I said he owns everything; however, the stadium is under Scunthorpe United LTD and the land may be under a different company that Hilton own. A company that will look to develop the land for the club’s benefit as he stated.
Like I said, I may well have interpreted it wrong, but it was something I picked up on.
That is how I interpreted it too, Cliff.
If that is how it is, it boils down to whether we trust the new owner more than we did the former owner with that.
My view on that is that I’d rather the club be where it is now than where it was a week ago.
The longer term plan must be to develop much of the land around the ground (obviously with the acquiescence of the planning authority) and maybe the end game would be to relocate the ground (across the road?).January 28, 2023 at 8:18 am #254124AnonymousInactiveOffline

I’ve thought that for a number of years.

January 28, 2023 at 12:16 pm #254133Whatever! The ground and land is no more ours than it was with Swann, just stop overthinking things, we’ve have still got a club and that’s all I was bothered about specially for the grandkids.

January 28, 2023 at 1:03 pm #254139Oh we’re keeping it going, precisely what should be handed back for free or otherwise, people buy things then “THEY” own them it’s all quite simple really, so long as Hilton doesn’t come and try and tell me what to do with my land and property I won’t tell him what to do with is. But wish him well with any developments he does if it benefits the club.
January 28, 2023 at 10:05 pm #254217Hilton did mention he had plans drawn up already which hadn’t obviously gone through planning process yet. It will be interesting to see what he has in store. I’m guessing that project will include a new training facility.

Rinse, repeat?
Maybe not with Mr Hilton (?) but it doesn’t control its own destiny.
It is not the people of Scunthorpe’s club.
It is a real life FIFA 2023 for a wealthy man.Small towns, with small clubs and small fan bases need to be community clubs.

First action to increase that by two seems strange then?

They need their wing man, crutch, marker picker upper, sound board.
And above all, a mate to talk to on the bus.January 30, 2023 at 8:27 am #254427Im guessing Hilton is quicker to sign up n add staff then he is to sack the ones he feels are surplus to requirements but it is coming as sure as eggs is eggs… there is areal urgency to get new bodies in in the slim chance of survival … then sort the wheat from the chaff… or the better chaff from the chaff

It’s a 17 game season.
Let’s see what the stats tell us at the end of the mini season.
Let’s see how we perform.
Let’s see how the squad is strengthened.
Let’s see how many supporters and hopefully new fans attend games.
Let’s hope that pies & scoreboards are taken seriously.

Is that enough cash to buy, restructure, develop and run a football club? Let alone to bring quality players in.
How much do you need to spend to get back to the EFL?
Stockport & Wrexham have thrown big money at it these last 2 seasons.
It’s going to take a lot more than $5m to get us back to the EFL.
March 16, 2023 at 8:07 pm #257488The thing for me is it enough to get us out of NLN.

March 17, 2023 at 9:52 am #257501What are iron fans thoughts on him so far ?
Is the stadium sponsorship scheme a goer in terms of take up ?
March 17, 2023 at 9:54 am #257502I dont expect many clubs are bankrolled in NLN so your attendances alone will put you up there alone surely? Given that the highest average att down there is 2k

I dont know
Wrexham , County ,Chesterfield will surely get out and then it will be a more even league without teams throwing silly money at it (hopefully )March 17, 2023 at 10:04 am #257504I’d take Rene’s tendency to negativity with a pinch of salt rich.

IMO … its still very fresh in my mind that Mr Hilton came in bought the club, got rid of Swan and immediately paid off its debts for these things alone he gets my thumbs up …however on the footballing side of things again IMO he was too hasty in appointing the new manger and a raft of signings in a gamble that hasnt paid off and doesnt look like it will. Some of the newbies have already gone others rarely feature and expecting a new manger to get a new group to gel in any sort of quick time was a tall order therefore i have sightly negative thoughts re how things have been managed that way.
With regard to the GP ground 1899 share scheme .. the jury is still out as it appears it was still listed as in the Coolsilk name unless that has changed recently.
Very sad what has happened at the club .. the county needs all its clubs to be in the EFL creating more local derbies but let the Cods with short memories on the fishy forum have their fun ..
SCUNNY WILL BE BACK

It doesn’t appear that Mr Hilton has the wealth to transform us in to the next Luton (4th in Championship – unbelievable), a Fleetwood, a Leyton etc.
I hope I’m proven wrong.
Non Scunthorpe United footballing friends are saying that we are entering the footballing equivalent of a nuclear winter!
March 17, 2023 at 4:11 pm #257535I’m surprised they know that much about our club and the next few years ahead. Most I know, haven’t a clue about our prospects.

March 17, 2023 at 5:30 pm #257542Wondergoals, why are we apparently looking for a new training ground, the existyone is great, is it to build commercial premises on? How you get people to subscribe to a new share issue when allegedly the land belongs to someone else, what about existing shareholders, no mention of them,is there any proof anywhere the new chairman now actually owns all the land, I’m not so sure unless the new chairman would like to make a up to date statement on affairs currently, a bit of transparency goes a long way.
March 17, 2023 at 6:38 pm #257543What’s it matter who owns the ground the football side of things has been taken over. Whoever is selling it by a membership offer is trying to ensure the town has a ground forever that’s got to be good, better than one person owning it.
